Song still makes me grin ear to ear and I must have listened to a million versions by Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, Starship, Airplane, ad infinitum, it always kicks my ass and gives me chills at 65 yrs old it has always been somewhat of an anthem.
so YES to this as an anthem, from another who has reached 65 65, who still gets chills, and is still scanning the horizon-, I'm so ready to get on board for more shining shores ...
To be clear: that is Jack Casady on bass, right? He's doing that Surrealistic Pillow cover shot, not showing his face, right? I mean...that's got to be Jack Casady! Nobody else.
So nice. I erroneously thought they were a bad live band but not anymore. There's something missing without Marty here, yet, it's a bit cleaner. C'est la vie.
I wish Darby would get up on that mic - she always seems mixed down on video. I saw Starship with her and her voice was mixed right and was very powerful. - Got a hint of it at 4:40 mark here. I can't help wonder if Kantner wasn't keeping her down a bit to up his vocal impact on this Starship incarnation -- I mean, Grace's vocal power could be sort of castrating... I guess...? (at least Marty Balin could handle it on stage, he was so great vocally in his own right)
I feel the world is a bit less without Paul and Marty in it. Miss you guys. 💔
Kantner was such a pro. Always came to play. Appreciated and felt an obligation to the fans. Bringing it strong at a radio station.
wow!! watta great little video!!,...thanks for posting

it's definitely Jack Casady. I shot this video in a small radio station studio and couldn't move around to get everyone's face

I wonder if the soundboard recording still exists anywhere. What was heard on the radio.
