    I never thought I'd be a disabled and partially spastic person, but a stroke did it. Everyday stuff is fine for me, but I cannot synch any of my watches to 1/10th of a second anymore, like I used to, so this kind of automated sync is great! I have a wave-sync clock in the living room, but I do not get the WWVB signal in house, so I'll try this app on my wall clock :)

    I just found this video as my Waveceptor watch has not been able to sync with the time signal in weeks now! Not sure if the extreme weather across the country all summer has a part in that, but this video has been a huge help, the app was worth the money!
    I was having an issue using just my iphone, but I had the idea of connecting my iphone to my bluetooth speaker and it worked on the first try!! The ticking and clicking is far more audible but I am assuming the larger coils on the speakers are better at producing the full range of low MHZ the timing radio signal uses.
    Thanks again!

Her şey çalıştı.

      Just make sure it's the U version, not the older one without the U. The longer duration of the backlight on the U alone is worth the trouble getting the GW-M5610U instead of the GW-M5610.

    Bro, I figured out how it exactly works.
    The smartphone speaker emits an electromagnetic signal at a frequency of 77.5KHz (the speaker has a coil) and the watch receives it through its antenna (the coil too).
    That's why you need keep the smartphone speaker as close as possible to the face of the watch.

      Nice pickup with the Protrek! 👌 You would need to do this whenever you felt that the time was no longer accurate enough for you. I would not recommend doing this every day, as there is no real need. Most of the watches tend to only stray by a matter of seconds each month. Great question, Dazzy!
      It was a struggle for me to wrap my head around, too!
      Gus DX comment above has about covered it (Thanks Gus 🙏).
      It doesn’t use anything to do with Bluetooth, it’s all about the sounds coming from the phone speaker. At a high enough volume, the sound waves are able to replicate the frequency, and the G-Shock can pick it up as if it’s from a Multi-Band 6 tower!
      Astounding, really. 🤯📡

    • @alanb76
      @alanb76 2 месяца назад +1

      Just to be clear, it is not the sound that the watch is synchronizing to, it is the radio wave emitted by the phone. The sound is not used, the watch has no sound sensor. The speaker emits some electromagnetic radiation. A better way to do this is with a raspberry pi, three resistors, some wire and a program you can find on the internet. You are essentially making a small transmitter that is making a very weak version of the time signals.

      You will indeed be able to set an accurate home time like this, but just know that your Timezone WILL need to match that of one of the 6 Radio Towers.
      I have seen others say that unfortunately, you may find the ‘world time’ zones you cycle through for other areas are no longer accurate, but if these are not used by you often then this may not be a big deal.

    I live in Jakarta, Indonesia, not much cities in the world with GMT+7 and no cities in that time zone is within range of all 6 multiband towers. • @goatreviews

      Great question, Aji! 👌
      I do know that you only need to be within range of ONE of the 6 towers to have your time automatically updated (If you enable Multi Band 6).
      However, as someone who isn't within range of any of the towers, I wouldn't know how the watch would behave if it received more than 1 differing signal, nor which tower ranges include Indonesia, unfortunately.
      Perhaps someone else can weigh in with some experience in this area.

      @@goatreviews I have now both the G-Lide GWX solar radio wave and the Casio G-Lide battery without the radio wave. In Australia which would be best? I can confirm that the sync app is great but the problem is that once you change home time to Tokyo you have to reset the tide settings. Consequently it is just as simple to change the time manually and practically, unless you are spending time overseas there appears to be little benefit in the radio wave function. Having said that it is fun to do but fiddley. It is easier to set the time manually. Also on the GLX the battery is 7 years and the print is marginally bigger and more legible. Both have pros and cons. It is amazing how Casio has these subtle differences between various models.

    • @goatreviews
      @goatreviews  Год назад +1

      G'day Tim! While I really like the face of the battery model (and the vibe alarm!) I'd still go with the GWX - If for nothing else than the Tough Solar. Sure, you wouldn't be able to make use of the Multi-Band 6 (As you said, you may as well do so manually since it disrupts the tide settings), however, that doesn't mean it's worth writing off this watch for use in Australia! Great point. The long 7 year battery life is tempting, along with the MIP display, though I have found these displays get dirty a little easier. It is indeed a tough call though. That's just what I would choose! Which option is pulling you, Tim? 🤔💭

    • @timmcdonald5335
      @timmcdonald5335 Год назад +1

      @@goatreviews I'm thinking of keeping both. I have a dressier titanium mod for the black GWX and can set home time to Tokyo (with Japan tide info) and while in Australia just have the world time as Sydney to keep time. Then use the GLX for surfing, running etc so it has the local tide info when I need it. The GLX also has a 24 hour stop watch while GWX is only 1 hour. Interesting to compare the two.

      A fair call. You know, I almost suggested the GW-B5600 to you, as that one has the option to use Bluetooth instead of Multi-Band 6 to keep atomic time! (It's what I use in Australia) But it sounds like the Tide Settings would be too useful to be sacrificed for a G-Shocker like yourself! 🏄‍♂🤙

    _Not all of us G-Shock fan's are fortunate enough to live within the range of the Multi-Band 6 towers_ - Like us, here in Australia. 🙄

      Exactly, right? 👌
      We’ve got soooo much space here too. Why not set up a Multi-Band 6 tower right in the middle of Australia, to cover the whole country 🤩💭🗼

      @@goatreviews It was shut down, because the government of the day and Telstra who ran and maintained it, saw it as an unnecessary expense. It's not coming back.

      You’re telling me we used to have one?!
      “Unnecessary Expense”…
      That’s insane! We need to petition Telstra to get this badboy back online!! 🤩

      @@goatreviews - It's not going to happen. It cost money to run it and the government won't fund it. For a quick reference look at the "Radio Clock" article in Wikipedia. It's ridiculous that we don't have our own synchronised time keeping broadcasts down on the LF bands between 30khz to 300khz.
