Old School 90s Blueberry, Bubba, Pink Champagne & the orginal Granddaddy Purple is a stapel in the garden.
I would kill for some pre 98 bubba seeds!! That Bubba that taste like the best soil you can buy!! Had it one time and never saw it again. It was dark green, looked brown from far away. Man that was some GAS!! The lung expansion on that bud was AMAZING!! One little hit and you’ll exhale so much smoke!!

I've had my medical card for 15 years in California and the flower was much better before legalization came along. That's why I grow my own now and I am happier for it.😊

I remember the dank skunky nugs back in the early 2000's. Stuff just isnt the same
Same out here in Boston.. before legalization you could find the best kush, sour D, haze, train wreck, diesels, GDP and other strains! Now it’s like everyone got the same crap and they’ll show you 5 different strains with the same exact smell! The stuff on the st is so bad I’m forced to go to weed shops. Ngl though, the weed shop I go to usually has 1 or 2 strains that are legit gas. Been smoking Kush Mintz for months now and it’s a fire batch! Almost looks silver! The longer I cure it the more purple it gets and the tastier it gets. I’m a Bubba kush lover so kush mintz is crossed with bubba. That’s probably why i love this strain. It doesn’t get old in 2 weeks like a lot of strains. Thing is it’s very expensive with the taxes out here. When I start growing, I will never pay for weed again! You have no idea how much I’ll be saving!! Let’s just say I spend almost 1200 a month on weed lol. That’s rent money!
Peanut butter breath is a phenomenal smoke that helps ALOT with pain and ptsd, smoke a bit and it helps in the day , smoke some more and it puts me on the couch if I really need to slow down.
I love the entire spectrum of flavors, smells and effects. My favorites are the gassy, burnt rubber and chem as well as sweet and fruity. I'm about to start trop cookies and gg4 sherbet photoperiods from fast buds. I enjoy basically anything that stands out in the taste or effects.
Oh that chem reminds me of the one time I had supposedly chronic, almost fuzzy looking full of trichomes type of bud, insanely potent aswell, wish there was more of these oldschool flavours and strains around instead of all being mixed into cookies and candyflavours. :D

I would describe my old school Romulan I grew as smelling like new carpet/carpet padding. That was the best of all I grew.

im on a never-ending pheno hunt... long ago i thought ill keep a mom tent with my top 5...and ill run them to death... but that was never the case...i have 5 tents... 1 mom tent... 1 veg tent, and 3 flower tents... the 2 big flower tents run runs of clones from my moms and the 3x3 flower tent is forever testing new strains and pheons my mom tent is forever changing... tastes change and favorites fade... i always keep it moving...

I took apart some old shelving and made myself a frame to hold the lights up and I use and old metal bed frame to hold the bags up off the floor

For me it’s the Sweet Pine, Citrus, Fuel/gas, and Earthy notes that I love.
I’ve got a theory regarding sativa’s stereotype effect of being an upper, a racer etc. perhaps because sativas take a solid 3 more weeks to mature than an indica takes I’ll bet sativas are more often harvested on the earlier side whereas faster ripening indicas get harvested on time or late. Just a theory that pertains to peoples habits and trends that can present correlation instead of causation.

A few weeks back the dogs ball rolled under our bed. I went to get it and found a pint jar almost full of herb! I have plenty and don't need it, but was excited. I can grow enough to not only last till next crop, but also enough to not notice a missing jar lol. Don't know if that's a good thing but sure was a cool feeling

@williambarringer6513 it honestly took me a while to get there. I grow smaller plants with soil and mars hydro ts1000 lights. My next crop in couple weeks will be well over a pound with 10 plants. It's my biggest harvest yet, providing all goes well the next 2 weeks.
My very first crop was 2 ounces from 6 plants lol. Don't give up, just keep trying you will get there! Shine On My Friend!
@@PoppaLongroach I got a good bit one time at my old place I had like 14 and lucked out with 9 females, now I just take random clones whatever is convenient i got 3 pretty big ones I just flipped, I really need to start putting in some effort and acquiring more equipment a few more ts1000s would be nice I just been being lazy and using what I got, I got a whole two bedrooms empty I can have a jungle if I get some more lights
@@PoppaLongroach I’ve reused this dirt probably 5 times and it’s working better than ever I think I actually had it too hot for the little ones I just stick them right in the dirt after the root powder it works fine then I put domes I made out of clear gallon jugs over them I’ve had decent success doing that
Im 63, i been smokin since 1978. Ive alway look for load sweet earthy with a like gas to it. GSC or OG kush is my favorite
Michigan “med” grower here, so it’s all about effects for me. Flavors are enjoyable, always nice when the terps show up adding to the experience. As for growing attributes (yield, frostiness, tall/short). My fav cultivars come in all sizes.

I think grower should be paid for their effort and not based on THC like it is here in Alaska
Extremely interesting discussion, that said, due to life events I’ve been outta circulation since 1975. Our state is now legal for recreational and I’m totally blown away at choice. Back in the day it was IF you had a joint or NOT. It wasn’t about what it tasted like, or really how much buzz, it was more about experiencing anything. I’m looking at getting a grow tent and experimenting with soil, the seed side has so many options.
As a side note I hope that there are folks that are keeping a cultivar pure and void of hybrids. Because there sounds like there is allot of hybrid experimentation that may need to be undone in the future.
I’m with Rob, Gelato og is the best I ever grew and smoked. It smells earthy like Chris said. It’s not very nice smelling but the buds are beautiful and the smoke is awesome. It’s one of the few strains that get me high.
When Chris mentioned earthy. The cultivar Dirt Nap immediately came to mind. This stuff smelled like digging in dry dirt when the dust gets in your mouth and nose. I totally look for medicinal effects, but it has to have certain terps. Great show guys. As always. Peace all.

My last run almost hit wiped out I was stupid and didn’t bake this new bag of dirt I got and got spider mites so I repotted and got rid of the dirt and that got rid of them, I put the dirt In a metal bucket and baked it in the oven it killed I haven’t seen any, you can spray then with dawn dish soap it kills the leaves a little bit

Idk, I like the earthy, kush type flavors. I do enjoy a citrus but that’s an afterthought. The effects-definitely a heavy, sleepy feel. I want the body to be numb and the brain to be slowed down so I can relax both physically and mentally😁
Speaking of grow in the dark plants... there is a moss that grows in the Ozarks that straight up glows in the dark. Coolest shit to see when youre in the woods at night

I agree with Rob on the diesel fuel. I like the skunkiest, gassiest, most weed tasting weed out there. I use raw organic papers because I want to taste my smoke and I just want to taste the smoke not what it's in. Not a big fan of fruity or sweet or spice. Gg#4 is a good one for me. Nice hybrid gassy smoke. Love it
I’m on the same page. Bad thing is when growing these types of plants just opening up your tent in flower can be very loud!!!!!!!

I'm a lover of flavors and want to try everything, my favorites are Gelato 41 and Grand Daddy Purp. I'm hoping Humboldt Seed Co. will release some of their triploid genetics after the phenotype hunts this summer. Having seeds with 3+ genetics in one think of the flavor combos, the advances yields, and vigor.

My favorite flavors have to be anything lemon or orange followed by gassy and dank. Current favorite is the Mandarin Zkittlez. That super orange flavor and then my apt smells like oranges after. Amazing!

I got jinx proof Hashgooberry. I previously was growing ethos genetics. Ethos is ridiculous, but something goes missing when we get thc to a certain level. Hashgooberry isn’t my favorite, but teaching me to look for a well rounded plant. The high is full body. Not dumbfounding. Time and place for each.

I like about any flavor/aroma... Just has to be strong in that department. Effects - As long as there are some, I'm good!
Skunk and gas fuel is what blows my mind. Old school genetics that are hard to acquire nowadays 😢
Effect, by far, is most important feature to me! "How's it make you feel?". If just, "Stoned" usually, you haven't found a special one.
Is there anything more important than "how we feel"..?! This seems to be what keeps life itself in check(or destroying itself?). Stress to protect family, can cause an uneasy feeling, or just work.
When you find some Holy Grail "Effects". and now you're more physically and mentally positive, and feel better than you've ever felt in your memory of partaking The Herb, it's unforgettable.
How you feel? "Best I've ever felt in the morning. I'm going out to change the world today!". And it works every time? "Of course!".
Then flavor is a far 2nd. Important, but effect is like comparing how it feels to have a child, then compare the child to flavor.

Feel ya ROB, GASSIER the better Terpier the better, still trying to find some of that old school SOUR D…..Not the shit you see labeled as SD but has a totally different profile like a citrus or fruity…. Which is great I love ❤️ it all but can’t find a consistent strain at the dispo because it’s always getting rotated.
I really do feel like the focus on the high THC percentage in breeding has caused a lot of other great qualities to fall by the wayside, like flavor and other cannabinoids.

Love stinky bud that has a grape inhale but followed by a gass exhale. For me Gush Mintz got me blazed for long, and tasted and smoked smooth and amazing, the f1 durb gives me the fuel that I enjoy also in it.
I’m a flavor chaser myself! I try to get every flavor possible! Once keepers are picked I’ll start my own breeding program!

At 10:14 I had some orange flavored medicine back in the day long time ago and it was so like you just ate an orange and I kind of been looking for that for a while just curious because it was just so zesty and it got you baked
I didn't even know that these plants tasted good until I started growing. That being said, I very much prefer the effects more so than the smell and taste. Now in the future I can see me getting more into the terps and needing the effects with it. I'm totally mixed on the effects that I want because I really enjoy a very thought provoking cerebral effect! Something that will make you talk to yourself for 30 minutes before you realize that you aren't even talking at all! On the other hand, I really love a couch lock so strong that it will make it seem like you're melting into the bed, chair or sofa and nearly impossible to stake awake! I'd take any suggestions of what I should be growing to find what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance!
I like a skunky,coco and coffee undertone type of strain best. But also do love some fruity turps in my arsenal as well. Chunky Diesel I miss deeply and haven't seen in at least 10 years

I wanna see Frankenseeds created with Crisper for Sure, Being able to edit the Autoflower Gene into any plant but JUST the auto flower gene, that would be AMAZING. Or a True Frankenseed that is has the Auto Gene AND the Gene for every single Terpene!
I got some beans from seedsman and who knows if it is what it is but the freebie beans seedsman offers “white widow” and it’s an amazing grower super hands off takes feedings in stride and it’s very flavorful earthy sweet has some stank on the backend and the effect is solid. Also it yields pretty good and

My fav taste of all time is the strain from the 90’s Christmas Tree. Then it’s the Blueberry, Creamy and that GSC flav with Glue mixed in.
It's hard to say I don't like a certain flavor profile, because some fruity tasting/smelling product can be nice and good, but some can be too powerful and overbearing, so I think it actually comes down to each and every individual plant

I'm with Rob I'll smoke a joint that smells like a skunks butt, LOL. One of my best smokes was 1979 skunk. We would throw a bud at a wood panel wall in my buddies converted garage and they would stick with a hang time of 10 seconds, seriously!

I just like to try the different effects and flavors in strains! But it also has to have nice bag appeal, smell and a strong smoke! I don’t care for older strains…to smoke or grow! I’m picky too!

Yesss...the flavor. Terps are imo the most important part of the smoke as the medicinal effects are often obtained from the terpenes. Yes its a whole package, dont get me wrong...but the terps have a huge part to play. Taking a hit of terps from a rig can have a wonderful effect!

Yea I like flavors, gassey fruit, straight gas, I also like that earthy/incense smoke, but as a home grower I love a healthy plant, I am looking for plants that explode with the growth. And affects do matter to me, I do have a “day time” or “night time” preference. But god I love weed so much. Nature is abundant so everyone should be growing there own and exploring what works for them!!! Good shit fellas

I am definitely a person who looks for flavour, (candy, sweet, and gassy), but potency is important as well. Hard to find that in dispensaries, which is why I went back to growing myself after 15 years. My how the growing scene has changed 🤣🤣

I don't know the true terp' profile until I vape the flower. Ball-vapes have changed the game, 4me anyway. 'So much flavor, so fuggn efficient! Pick yer temp. Thermal extraction via ballvapes is as close 2 dabbing as i can get... w/WAY less steps! 🙏🌱
