I agree. It would be nice to see a ROI on the new $5k S21 after halving. If they are no longer profitable, and we don't mine anymore, how does that work for BitCoin?
@@JTDesign1Price needs to go up to compensate, or you're blown out of profitability and your operation dies on the vine. But, price will likely go up. And then they'll be profitable again. But there'll be a dead zone there for a lot of farms.
be cool to see recommendations on lower power miners, 1500 watt or so, that would work well for using home solar. Unprofitable paying for power will make people money with already existing solar systems. I am running an S9 and L3++ off my solar and am confused by the options to upgrade to. Experienced direction pointing would be awesome.
@@intownsolarhomesteading476 you can downvolt I believe to about 1700 watts on that model. There's other lower wattage miners I'm specifically talking btc Asics. The etc models are something like 1300 out of the box. Good luck I think your on the right track with the free energy!
Great question. Free energy (after solar is paid off naturally) would be perfect. So lower powered, but powerful miners is essential. Have you done the math on number of panels for each miner to be self sustaining?
@JTDesign1 my s9 and L3++ are both on lowest power setting with a combined 1500w and i can just keep them running for 14 hrs day at the current date (northern canada low sun still). I also need to save some energy for the home or it would be 24 hr
Vosk - long time subscriber/watcher, first time leaving a comment though. I’m considering buying an S21 through Revolution Mining and having them host. Was torn on this one or the S19 but you’ve pretty much helped me make my mind up to go with the newest model. What is the typical life of one of these miners? I.e how many months/years can I expect to be mining with one of these before I’ll have to replace it?
As the S19 family is gonna be underwater, or close to it, after the halving...I'd say the S21 family will be good for just this upcoming bull run cycle alone. Hopefully the full cycle. But that's pushing it. What making you decide to go with Revolution Mining? I'm thinking of going with Musk Miners. But nothing is in stone for me yet.

Hosting is ideal for me though because of my electricity rate and my lack of desire to add electrical circuits and whatnot to accommodate the miners in my house

There aren't too many options for 45A, 240V connectors. Anderson connectors are about the lowest cost out there. I can lower your utility rate with partial solar and batteries.
small piece of trivia , in the netherlands the average cost per kW is 0.37 dollar we dont have a lot of people mining here unless there robbing the electricity there using from the power company
I asked Braiins and they said they havent' released anything yet for the S21. Are you just using their pool but not their software or do you have a BETA release of the software?
I think your not wrong they probably are on tight margins reselling but at same time these importer resellers are also buying entire pallet worth of miners not just one or two like you and me so 5500$ miner their cost is probably significantly lower per unit cost.

And does their estimate include customs and tariff costs? Since it sounds like the product would come from China. I just wanna make sure nothing goes wrong.
it most likely does not include those costs, and about the payment I thinks that it is all the same if they are scammers once you send the money (in any sort of payment, even if it is a wire transfer your bank can't do anything) they are gone so be careful.

from where did you order your first miner, I am having trouble deciding on the reliability of vendors. I'd order directly from the manufacturer but their waiting times are longer.

Can downvolt the modern Asics. Can get the s19j pro to 24 w/th at about 2200 watts

At a quick first glance, Musk seems to be more expensive (8 cents per kWH vice 7), and the S21 through Musk is $6150 vs $5500 on Revolution

No. Very little data moves, it's ping to the pool that matters. Pretty much any wired connection works, I use starlink at one farm and it's also fine.
