Can not wait to live this life. My partner and i have just ordered our 1st van and are at a stage of unknown how to make it work yet but can not wait we want to travel full time. Hope we see you guys around
I’m so so happy for you all!! Great choice too!! Such a professional job done, friendly & pleasant from a respectful business! A pleasure to see! Enjoy ☀️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Awesome stuff guys It reminds me before army days of living and raising my kids off grid for 7 years .. the transitions and solar upgrades were always welcomed and epic to see go up. Although there were no caravans for us at the time !! makes me smile to see you guys doing the same thing but on wheels ..!!!!Looking forward to seeing Inskip ... hey I don’t even need to go out and holiday I just watch you guys ! Ha
I’ve got basically the exact same system in my van. I got a 1st gen 200AH btec battery, 40A dcdc charger, 40A ac charger and Epro monitor as a package deal for $3350 2 years ago. (Same package with 2nd gen Btec is $3700 now) 2600W inverter is $1700, low voltage disconnect $240, 150W solar panels $335 ea and around $800 in cable and fuses so around $7000 all up... plus installation costs if you can’t do it yourself. I have since purchased two 200AH lithium batteries from EV power for $4200 to go in the van and the 200AH Btec will power my canopy setup on the 45 series Landcruiser and the 125AH Btec from that will be going in our 100 series Landcruiser. You’ll love it, so much more power and quick recharging, once you go lithium you’ll never go back to AGM...
Good stuff dude, your right there, were so stoked with the set up it’s unreal having no stress with our power and being able to use all our PowerPoints and appliances off grid. We rate that Tristar solar reg as well as the Dc Dc charger. When driving in the sun we’re putting in 70+ amps 👍🏽
No Moss Nomads, I’ve got the Morningstar 40A mppt solar controller with 2 x 150w and 3 x 120w solar panels fixed to the roof... I also have 2 x Hard Korr 200w portable panels I plug into the dcdc charger so in good sun while free camping can get 50 amps from solar alone. In summer we often park the van in shade and run the portable panels out to the sun and they are enough to fully recharge the battery during the day. I put the 125ah Btec in my camper for our Fraser trip over the new year... worry free camping..
looks great, we have very similar setup but with 2000wat invertor. We totally flattened our battery once and wondered if you realize there is a reset nipple on the battery you need to hold for 10 sec to reset if the battery completely discharges, wish we had known.
Thanks for the content. Be careful with the air con in the evening.. Based on the data shown during your test you'll be able to run your AC for 4 hours without the sun or DCDC charger whilst not using any other power, so assuming you battery is at full charge by sundown you realistically have no more than 2 hours of Air Con in the evening to take the edge off. Cheers from lockdown Melbourne
No worries 👍🏽 it only runs at about 100amps running in the coldest temp flat out, when I tone it back to a reasonable temp 24 degrees the amps come down dramatically (this was during the day and I was actually still charging at +13amps solar only with the air con running) haven’t played with it too much yet as we haven’t needed the AC but I’m sure we’ll see just what the system is capable of this summer, we’ll keep everyone updated
Hey guys, we are travelling Aus with our family of 4, also in a Triton. Have you had any issues with slight over heating towing your van and can you recommend any radiator mods etc ?
Sorry I had to share this: Two fundamentals from your old system to the new one which is power and weight. Your old battery may have given you 720 watts (12v 100amp AGM x 60%) usable energy where the 12v 200Ah Li x 90% gives you 2,160watts. Your new 200Ah Li battery weighs about the same, and will cycle many more times than the AGM battery! More Bang for your bucks! Well designed, and functional.
Well done. We will be expanding our solar set up soon. Question, is your fridge running fulltime solar set up or have you kept that running on gas full time?
Enerdrive gear looks like it's the go to system.......can you give us a ballpark figure for a system like this......I'd probably want a bit more battery but this looks like it will be a blessing travelling off grid......
No Moss Nomads I don't have or do Instagram..... I'm only asking as I have a ball park figure on a similar system using Victron components...but try to support Aussie companies!
Okay no worries. I didn’t want to put up any pricing in the comments as when it comes to pricing it can change heaps from van to van. The gear your looking around the 6k mark, you can change it up to suit your power needs and budget as well. Install I’d say 3-5k should cover you.
Hey Paul, we hadn’t needed to use the AC yet but as we keep heading north and the closer we get to summer I’m sure we’ll be using it. We’ll keep everyone posted in upcoming videos about the set up 👍🏽
Thanks for watching! Nah it’s awesome we don’t hear anything noticeable, except when we have the inverter on and it’s drawing a lot of power (our toastie machine for example) the inverter fans will come on, but it’s not excessive at all, our 12v fans are louder hahah
Hey Alan! The enerdrive gear costs around 6k mark, we got a pack but swapped some things around to better suit out needs. Installation is around 3-5k mark. The price changes depending on the van’s needs etc 😊 all the best!
9-11K🤯🤯 for 200amp hour. Australia is far too expensive. DIY 280amp hour $517, inverter and charger $1000, 2 335 watt panels $270ea. So $2057 then cabling install easy done for well under $4k. That's Australian $. Check out will prowse's diy solar channel. Amazingly smart young man. I knew nothing about solar or electrical until i started watching his videos, a very informative channel.
Why not keep the 100ah agm and put it in parallel with the new 200. Then you would have 300ah. The 200ah battery has a bms, you can parallel it with the agm no problems. You can use uo to 550W of foldable panels that you can point towards the sun to plug intothe 40A dc dc charger when not running the car. Inverter hums at night so under the bed isn't ideal. Be aware that the 15A inlet on the side of the van is live when you are running the inverter, don't touch the 3 pins. Ennerdrive is overpriced for what it does but I'm sure you didn't pay full whack.
Because there can be a huge difference in pricing from one van to the next. We’d hate to give someone an idea on a price just to be quoted way over what we payed.
I hope that they screwed those pannels down aswell as sikaflex them. they are know to come off with only sika and new law has came in and they need to be screwed.

That’s amazing that you’ve already taken the hardest step! All the best with getting on the road. Don’t forget to enjoy the journey getting there 😊
I’m so so happy for you all!! Great choice too!! Such a professional job done, friendly & pleasant from a respectful business! A pleasure to see! Enjoy ☀️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Thanks for watching Jen! 😊
yeah we did a fair bit of research and so stoked with what we ended up going with and who we went through! Cheers 🤙🏽🌞

So how much all up? I think Justin from trip in a van said theirs was about 13k.

Hi Guys, this was a great vid, I'm and old bloke and was looking to upgrade batteries, and panels, this was so informative. Thanks!

Epic! Enjoy the journey 😊

Have a look at safari 48V systems mate.
Im my opinion crazy better option. Could get a full 600A for around the same price this would have cost.
Hi Guys great video have you an idea of the run time with air con
Hey Paul, we hadn’t needed to use the AC yet but as we keep heading north and the closer we get to summer I’m sure we’ll be using it. We’ll keep everyone posted in upcoming videos about the set up 👍🏽
@@NoMossNomads I'm guessing a couple of hours with 200AH but will be interesting to see Good Luck
Great set-up, now you guys are ready to go off-grid! How is the covid going over there? Because I saw you shake hands and stuff.. Safe travels guys!🤙
can you tell me what your caravans aircon model is . looking at getting the same setup
How did you go running your a/c off grid ?
Great video. Do you get much noise or hum from any of the components? Things like that drive me nuts when trying to sleep 🤣
Thanks for watching!

I would love to no how much your set up cost as I’ve been looking it up for our van 😊👍

I realize its a bit late, since you had this set up installed in Sept 20. But what was the cost and install cost please >
Hey how much did that setup cost?
How much was it?

Don't want exact figures but what's an install like this worth roughly?
Send us through a message on Instagram and we can run you through our costs 👍🏽
Y not here

15 K spend ??
I hope that they screwed those pannels down aswell as sikaflex them. they are know to come off with only sika and new law has came in and they need to be screwed.
Bet that cost a ship load
Yeah it’s a bit of an outlay, but we’d spend more paying for powered sites at caravan parks in less than year
No Moss Nomads Get out there and enjoy it mate 👍🍻🍻
Hey guys if you where to sell the old stuff hit me up as I would be keen to buy it 😀😀
