"Pieyon. More that. More that please." How did we go from Pieyon to this?! Felt bad seeing Anna struggle to keep it together even during the discussion segment. This episode hit a little too close for comfort. Aka Akasaka is excellent at grounding his works in reality - from teenage woes and first love anxiety, to smartphones, social media, and classroom/cyberbullying. He uses that relatibility to make us laugh in Kaguya-sama, and he's using it to make us hurt here.

as a manga reader these chapters were like a horror movie... a slow moving horror film. The anime staff actually did a better job of portraying it then the manga, which is hard to believe. this was just amazing. love your reactions as always.
Spot on, it was just an escalation of dread throughout. They took their time making things worse and worse for Akane, such that by the time we got to the bridge everyone could see where this was going, and it was all we could do to beg for it not to happen.
The anime has exceeded expectations immensely imo, in terms of being able to fully capture the emotions exposed in the manga. So well done. And I really appreciate how they havent cut much in terms of manga to anime adaptation.
Akane and fkg overpasses man, I swear she should be banned from walking anywhere near those things, every single time she's on an overpass I feel like I'm gonna have a heart attack.
Fr? Like, yeah, it's great, but there's a *lot* of good, real fiction. Idk too many myself, since I never really got into watching anything until like a year ago
A concept that this arc lightly touches on (moreso in the next episode) that I think bears highlighting a bit more: The internet has a kind of counter-intuitive timelessness and permanence to it. Forgiveness, growth, and healing are all things that require the passage of time, but the (semi-)permanent retrievability and searchability of the internet makes it nearly impossible for those things to happen. The structure of most internet spaces and social media makes it hard for the public to perceive or believe in those things when there are permanently retrievable snapshots of a bad moment of a person's history. Even if the people directly involved in an online incident move on from it, even if the relevant tweets/videos/etc. are deleted by the people who come to regret them, somebody new is going to keep running in to them for the first time, forever (as somebody else is for sure gonna have saved screenshots/made re-uploads).
That track that plays over the montage of Akane striving to improve her work is so good. Just the right amount of tension to gave it that plaintive feel.
I struggle to even say this episode is 'good' so much as it's just so damn important. It's a topic that basically hasn't been properly covered in much fiction, especially anime and I really appreciate how it didn't pull ANY punches in terms of presenting Akane's feelings and what she almost did to herself. The direction and voice acting of this episode was absolutely phenomenal too - I'm so glad the show did this arc justice - even having read the manga the bridge scene affected me just as much if not more than it did when I first read it, the delivery of "I'm tired" absolutely ruined me. In terms of the comment that I think really pushed her over the edge, as Ben said it was the more personal comment, but specifically the one from a supporter who actually knew how hard a worker she was, before then deciding to stop supporting her thinking that she's simply using controversy as a means of promoting herself. I think this comment is what's implied to lead to her attempt as it's the last one we see her reading and reacting to, and it's so impactful for me because yeah, on an individual level you can ignore baseless comments about what kind of person you are or people telling you to die (even if the combination of all the comments together will absolutely have an effect on your mental health generally) but seeing one of the few people who actually knew and supported you jumping on the bandwagon would be genuinely soul crushing, it would convince you that all the other comments people are saying about you must also be correct.

Pretty scary part in this ep that nearly all Tweets are real tweets took from a real life accident . people say its based on the Hana Kimura case but it was "bad" timing as the chapter came out a few months after the accident but the plot was already plan out before. After that Japan changed law that Cyber bully could get fined. About the other people like Akane said per contract they are forbiddewn to talk about the future eps.
The dub for this episode just released today. Kristen McGuire who plays Akane said that this brought back memories of her what happened to her own mother and used that to fuel her performance. I don't know if you guys have looked that the dub at all but it's really worth checking it out for both episode 1 and this episode.
it's really sweet of you guys to say to all of us that we're not alone and all but like they showed in the episode, sometimes, especially when it's escalated, you're tired of even thinking. talking about what's going on is far from your capabilities. it really becomes critical to notice the signs and actively reach out and take action like Aqua did in this episode. life is very frail and can end easily. it's just so sad
Great reaction,I just noticed the visual design numbering in your thumbnail is different as per show 🤟. Edit : I also kind of figured that this episode might hit close to home for anna
I think the newer generations have a harder time with the internet for some reason. For context, im 34. I grew up with the whole coming of the internet, for me and for anyone else in my generation that i know, it's very clear what the internet always was, is and always will be. I've yet to come across someone of my generation, that actually gives 2 cents about what or who says something on the internet. But for the younger generations, i think they have a very hard time disconnecting the internet from reality and themselves from the internet too when they should. And thats not really a usage thing either, cause im connected 24/7 because of my work and my hobbies. I use twitter, youtube, reddit and co. When im around people of my age, we actually talk a lot of times about not giving kids smartphones anymore because it's gone way too far. While for some that might sound like something a boomer would say but at the end of the day, the smartphone with access to the internet is what screws up the kids these days.
Totally, you need to do full state infosec-grade training for kids if you want for them to have a chance of shrugging online abuse off and avoiding spilling too much beans about themselves. Even most adults are bad at it. Even as transhumanist and cyberpunk enthusiast myself I would rather for them not be online if unprepared.
It's a touchy subject. On the one hand, smartphones and the internet have accelerated human growth in an unparalleled way, but ther drawbacks are, of course, very real. For people that know what it's like without the internet, such as yourself, there isn't too much of an issue - for you, life doesn't need to be online, that was just an addition. For my generation, the internet has 'always been around' so it just feels more 'real', so we care a lot more about the things people say online. I don't think banning anything is the way forward. People just need educating on how to not be dicks online, and on the other end of things, how to not care as much, by having a sense of self-worth that isn't attached to anything external, online or not.
@@fahrenheit2101 Well i'm against banning anyways, my comment with not giving kids smartphones anymore was not about gouvernement intervention. But parents, parents are the key here to solve this problem, not the gouvernements.
Every character needs hug and therapy, but that's not how it goes. Sadly episode 8 doesn't come out until a week and a half on June 7th. That's when episode 8 will air and the manga will be back from its week break. I do love seeing an anime episode and manga chapter in the same day. Many series can't say that. The only other series that really could do that was Chainsaw man releasing a chapter and anime episode on Tuesday.
I usually just watch your reactions but your discussions but this time i watched the entire video cause i was really interested in your thoughts of this episode
Akane is a hard worker, and it's sad that she's being told that on the internet even though she's just doing her best. So she almost committed suicide. And I feel malice on the part of the staff of the TV program to turn off the recording and broadcast there.
@@BhBc8f8 However, it was clear that Akane would be hit on the internet by stopping the filming there. Moreover, Akane even tried to commit suicide. I think this is an obvious problem.
@@miyaisit4188 You misunderstand. There's a contracted employee injured on your set, her health and well being has to be your top priority before any acting can be resumed. So they had to cut so Yuki could get the medical attention she needs from her production team, but they didn't have to cut out the apology. That one they chose to do in order to attract more attention to the show.
@@BhBc8f8 Was there such a scene in the anime? I'm sorry if there was. However, I can't accept that Akane is driving her to the point of attempting suicide. It's not the TV staff, it's the guys writing on the net. No matter how much it's the net, it's because we're human.
@@BhBc8f8 Was there a scene like that? I'm sorry if there is. But I'm still not convinced. Akane was even forced to attempt suicide. It should have been obvious that it would be on TV and go viral on the internet. Also, even if there are individual differences on the receiving side, even on the Internet, it is an interaction between humans. Even ordinary people on the net should be careful that the words can sometimes be a blade.

"It's good that I put an extra make-up so that it got ruined watching it, it's very visual and metaphorical". Oh, hello, Yuki Sumi. :) (of course I don't mean anything mean - just that character is a pro, she's not pretending, but she's using her real emotions to make a good show, and as you have already watched ep 7 - you know)
There's that moment when Akane looks so peaceful and serene, then it smash cuts to her being drenched by the rain and crying her eyes out. I feel like that what this show does to me.
Unbelievable that this is taking place in the same universe as Kaguya-sama. While Kaguya and Shirogane are having fun at school, doing their daily shenanigans this serious shit is happening elswhere in the city. But when you think about it what happened to Ishigami was also pretty dark...
I don't know what experiences made you identify or connect so much with this episode. But I do hope what happens to akane is not something that you feel in the future. Block anyone you need, ignore it, as far as I know you are one the better reaction channels out there. I like you guys
lmao I always find it funny how it's always the guys (myself included) who gasp/comment out loud when Akane slashes Yuki by mistake. We're all panicking for her. Amazing how quickly the anime gets us on Akane's side.
Reality shows are more show than reality. They only exist for one purpose, and it isn't entertaining anyone. Their reason for being is to make money. Akane is sweet, kind, timid, insecure, and wants everyone to be happy. Those qualities were the "blood in the water" for the keyboard commandos.
I probably won't be very relevant, it's been a year since the video, and most likely you've heard it anyway, it seems like it was popular because this anime kind of even tried to cancel, But still, I haven't seen anyone write, so I'll just write. Maybe someone is interested- The story of Akane from this episode is based on the real story of a Japanese girl, who unfortunately was not saved in reality. This.... Just another reminder of what Aqua will say in the next episode. To all people of all nationalities and ages. People die too quickly and quietly. Therefore, be careful and attentive. Your words can kill. Your words can save. Live happily. Please
The reason it feels so real is because the episode draws very close parallels with what actually happened to a real person in the industry named Hana Kimura in 2020.
It was less than four months before the incident occurred that the author of the story urged the cartoonist to watch the show because it was set on a romantic reality show. The plot was set before and after that. So it is not true. The details about Hana-san's case are also different. She was a professional wrestler and was drying her stage costume when A man put it in the dryer. It shrunk into soreness. She was angry at Sole. No wonder she was angry. Unlike ordinary clothes, stage costumes are expensive. But the fans who saw the fight and liked the man escalated, blaming her for going too far. ---. Now, someone has blown the whistle on her mother for "using the incident as a motif, Hana Kimura's mother has slandered the author and this work. Her mother was told not to watch the story because it is very hurtful and she has reacted to it without even watching it. This has created a conflict with those who love the story, and now the story has come under fire in Japan. At first glance, the association of this story with the Kimura Hana incident may seem like a beautiful story, However, in reality, it is also a cause of conflict, so we need to be careful.
I don't want you to hate Yuki. Creating heel roles and blaming them has become the cause of cyber bullying. Some people throw words against heels because they think they are righteous, Some people throw words at heels out of a sense of justice. They don't doubt their own righteousness. If we can learn anything from this story, it is to question our own righteousness and take a step back. Preventing online lynchings is all about having the imagination to consider the consequences of raising your fist in the air.
Many creator youtubers in Japan, Many creative youtubers in Japan are thinking and communicating as if it happened to them, just like you. Your fans here are listening to you, and will work hard to reduce the number of people who are hurt.
This was based on something true that happened a few weeks before the writer wrote this plot. Except the girl in Japan didnt have an Aqua to save her.. I heard alot of the internet comments in the show are actual word for word comments the Japanese woman recieved before her death.

Have been looking forward to your two's views on this episode, just when the previous episode got us to relax our guard quite a bit
Appreciate you guys, such an impactful episode. A very necessary episode in terms of tackling real issues, but tough to process nonetheless.
The dub for this episode just released today. Kristen McGuire who plays Akane said that this brought back memories of her what happened to her own mother and used that to fuel her performance. I don't know if you guys have looked that the dub at all but it's really worth checking it out for both episode 1 and this episode.

Nodding in synch!
lets watch ep7 soon for recovery

When Aqua clutched my heart jumped out my throat. Exceptional fucking writing.
it's really sweet of you guys to say to all of us that we're not alone and all but like they showed in the episode, sometimes, especially when it's escalated, you're tired of even thinking. talking about what's going on is far from your capabilities. it really becomes critical to notice the signs and actively reach out and take action like Aqua did in this episode. life is very frail and can end easily. it's just so sad
I usually just watch your reactions but your discussions but this time i watched the entire video cause i was really interested in your thoughts of this episode
yeah that episode...hit hard
Akane is a hard worker, and it's sad that she's being told that on the internet even though she's just doing her best. So she almost committed suicide.
And I feel malice on the part of the staff of the TV program to turn off the recording and broadcast there.
They kinda had to. Someone's literally bleeding on set
Even ordinary people on the net should be careful that the words can sometimes be a blade.
man I click "next" and I get jumpscared by the thumbnail lmao
Oshi No Ko isn't really my show ... BUT EP1 and EP6 are masterpieces.
1:29 here is mistranslation.she is not vegetarian, just making effort for everyone
@@brenosantos3392Akane didn't say syoujin ryouri.
syoujin 精進 devotion diligence concentration purification
There is no direct translation for this word in English.
syoujin ryouri 精進料理 Buddhist cuisine vegetarian food
Since no animal products are used, vegetarian and Buddhist cuisine are similar.
@@brenosantos3392yes.sorry for late reply.
she just said, “Because I'm in a position where I have to make an effort. for everyone”
this mistraslation has occur because of translation of shojin(精進).
Shojin have two meaning, 1 is making effort, 2 is buddist style.
this translator mis understood in this time.
Best girl must protect
"It's good that I put an extra make-up so that it got ruined watching it, it's very visual and metaphorical". Oh, hello, Yuki Sumi. :) (of course I don't mean anything mean - just that character is a pro, she's not pretending, but she's using her real emotions to make a good show, and as you have already watched ep 7 - you know)
That thumbnail expression though
There's that moment when Akane looks so peaceful and serene, then it smash cuts to her being drenched by the rain and crying her eyes out.
I feel like that what this show does to me.
It's finally here!!!
Ouch. You really have been watching all of the traumatizing anime at the same time. This, Re:Zero, Steins;Gate 😅
I love you guys.
The only thing I can compare this emotion i felt watching this was 2x11 of kaguya sama
That also stuck with me for a while
Subscribed. Great reaction.
Ben expecting More of pieyon 😂😂😂 and see what he gets😂😂
Unbelievable that this is taking place in the same universe as Kaguya-sama. While Kaguya and Shirogane are having fun at school, doing their daily shenanigans this serious shit is happening elswhere in the city. But when you think about it what happened to Ishigami was also pretty dark...
Main events of Oshi no ko take place in the future to Kaguya-sama
They're in the same universe?!?!?!
I know, I know. This episode got me and it's bullshit.
It got me really scared and almost got my tears out of it.
i was gonna mention it AHAHHA i saw u had more make up on at the start and I was like "oh no not at a tear inducing episode"
Nobody deserve this 💙
Akane is best hard work 💙😢
this episode was intense.
Oh this is gonna be a good one! 😅
Please watch NANA!
Finally 🎉
Where did Ben get his sweater?
It’s Trash Taste merch.
@@brentschlichting5699 Ah thanks
I probably won't be very relevant, it's been a year since the video, and most likely you've heard it anyway, it seems like it was popular because this anime kind of even tried to cancel,
But still, I haven't seen anyone write, so I'll just write.
Maybe someone is interested-
The story of Akane from this episode is based on the real story of a Japanese girl, who unfortunately was not saved in reality.
This.... Just another reminder of what Aqua will say in the next episode.
To all people of all nationalities and ages.
People die too quickly and quietly.
Therefore, be careful and attentive.
Your words can kill.
Your words can save.
Live happily. Please
It's wild that this episode is written by the same author who wrote Kaguya-Sama: Love is War...
Any fun episode from this show feel like a distraction to make me let my guard down. ;c
Where is the episode5😂

🎉The only other anime that got me really bad was Your Lie in April.
二人共大好きだよ🫶🏻💗
The reason it feels so real is because the episode draws very close parallels with what actually happened to a real person in the industry named Hana Kimura in 2020.
It was less than four months before the incident occurred that the author of the story urged the cartoonist to watch the show because it was set on a romantic reality show. The plot was set before and after that.
So it is not true.
The details about Hana-san's case are also different.
She was a professional wrestler and was drying her stage costume when
A man put it in the dryer.
It shrunk into soreness.
She was angry at Sole.
No wonder she was angry.
Unlike ordinary clothes, stage costumes are expensive.
But the fans who saw the fight and liked the man escalated, blaming her for going too far.
---.
Now, someone has blown the whistle on her mother for "using the incident as a motif,
Hana Kimura's mother has slandered the author and this work.
Her mother was told not to watch the story because it is very hurtful and she has reacted to it without even watching it.
This has created a conflict with those who love the story, and now the story has come under fire in Japan.
At first glance, the association of this story with the Kimura Hana incident may seem like a beautiful story,
However, in reality, it is also a cause of conflict, so we need to be careful.
A sad episode 😢💔
I don't want you to hate Yuki.
Creating heel roles and blaming them has become the cause of cyber bullying.
Some people throw words against heels because they think they are righteous,
Some people throw words at heels out of a sense of justice.
They don't doubt their own righteousness.
If we can learn anything from this story, it is to question our own righteousness and take a step back.

This was based on something true that happened a few weeks before the writer wrote this plot. Except the girl in Japan didnt have an Aqua to save her.. I heard alot of the internet comments in the show are actual word for word comments the Japanese woman recieved before her death.
Thank you for your reaction.
