I have been transfering old stuff from my ancient sony 8mm camcorder from 96. I found the easiest way was just to hook it up to a dvd recorder then rip those discs to the pc. That way you have a dvd backup(altho I dont know how long dvdrs will last) and the files on the puter.

A great video, but what were you trying to show? Your silence could have spoken what you thought of something? I like the crisp focus of the camera you shot it with. I just got mine off ebay to use for making dvds. How old are these pre firewire models?
ive got exactly the same one but i cant extract the vids to my pc with the usb streaming mode. It seems that windos cant find the drive controler for this cause it too old
You either need to get an analog capture device that connects to your computer, a digital camcorder that has an analog video input, or something like a DVD recorder that can record the video onto DVD, which you can then put in your computer.

I had a digital 8 sony. The sony nightvision was unrivalled back then, far superior to anything you get nowadays.

i have the CCDTRV316 hi8 no one on youtube made a videoof it!
I dropped mine it was a Sony handycam TRV-308 it won't record or play videos it just get a error code how am I supposed to make skate videos.
