Good video. I do custom charters in the PNW. I bought a new boat 2+ years ago and calculated what it costs me on an hourly basis to operate that boat. I figured in gas, boat payment, main motor depreciation (generate enough funds to replace the motor at 2,000 hours), engine maintenance, insurance, registration for boat & trailer, kicker depreciation, kicker maintenance, trailer maintenance, electronics depreciation and installation for a new set in 10 years. The total came out to $75 and hour and that doesn't include my time. So if I figure my time at $50 an hour I need to get at least $750 out of a six hour trip to cover my costs and give me some marginal compensation. Note that does not include outfitting the boat with fishing gear because I already had all of that. But, reels do wear out, and line needs to be replaced, leader needs to be purchased, and lures get lost, or damaged ... it goes on an on. 🙂
So, the charter captain I used to go out with on Lake Michigan salmon fishing was right. He told me I wouldn't get rich being a charter captain. I remember being absolutely fascinated with the idea of doing this. Instead I got into robotics and machine programming. Still not rich, but certainly doing just fine. I applaud you for chasing the dream. Hoping you find a way to be more than successful as a captain.

That tackle up and down the docks a lot easier. Killer video. We are are starting a charter company in South Carolina and people don’t realize everything that goes into the costs just so someone can come jump on the boat for a day “care free” and catch some fish.

Oh...and I talked to my step-father and he said those tuna jigs are definitely $22.00 a pound. He saw a lot of color and good blending into the body. Sharp hooks.

You should! Always nice to try different things. I never ever fresh water fished but the crappie fishery is one of the coolest things I’ve seen. Would have never imagined I would enjoy it so much

Yes indeed it's a spendy game and this is the video I should play on a loop in the back of the Bertram while booking trips off the dock. About every fourth party that walks up is blown out of their shoes when I say 1700 a day. This video playing would make it easier for me!! Thanks Joe I'm stealing you. By the way the White Marlin paid out 8.6 mil in 2022 while Bisbee's Black and Blue paid out 11.5 mil this year the top three checks totaled 7.9 mil. Maybe I missed an episode, or didn't quite understand the beginning of what you said at the start, but are you on your own now or are you still working for the boat you were on before Bluefin started? I know you said the captain has to supply the equipment but my nephew is a captain on a charter boat here in St.Petersburg, FL doing inshore and offshore, but his boss pays for everything. New rods, reels, tackle, knives and even their white rubber boots. That really sucks that if you owned the boat, you would keep all the profits since you're shelling out for the outfitting of the boat. Unless you've gone on your own now. Sorry I I'm confused.

What exact rod is the Shimano Terez? Looking to get a couple of tuna setups and there are a ton of selections to chose from. Also wouldn't mind seeing some gear being put together/reviews videos.
They are terez BW 6’8 rod. Another, and probably better, option is Okuma DTR rods. They are half the price and have proven to be an awesome tuna rod. Kind of rolling the dice with the terez. Hope it works out for me….

If you're ever up in Texas, I'd be mor3 than happy to take you and some friends out on a Striper fishing trip.
