- Granada Plus (or at the time of closure, Plus) was a digital channel run by Granada Sky Broadcasting, which broadcast archive programming from ITV and BBC as-well as US drama imports.
Despite Granada Sky Broadcasting confirming numerous times that Plus would be staying on-air after the launch of ITV3, ITV and Sky reached a deal which would result in ITV buying out Sky's 49.5% stake in GSkyB. This allowed ITV full control of the remaining GSkyB channels, Plus and Men & Motors.
Meanwhile, the team at Granada Plus were completely unaware of this, having already sent their regular highlights email at 3:50pm. It was only 10 minutes before their abrupt closure that they were told of what was happening.
The last programme to be shown on Plus was the first episode of Pie in the Sky, however only half of the episode was shown as the channel suddenly cut to a GSkyB slide and looped music in the middle of their second ad break. Transmissions ceased shortly after, and the channel slots were replaced with the newly-launched ITV3. ITV2 had also been moved to a higher channel slot than prior.
This was difficult to construct due to the lack of resources in terms of Granada Plus. This video was based off descriptions of the abrupt closure from various forum threads like TV Forum and Digital Spy, and the adverts were extracted from a Five recording.
I am unsure if this is exactly how they've closed so if anybody has any recollection of their closure, please do let me know as I would like to make this mock as accurate as possible.

It feels kind of sad to know that the team only had 10 minutes to say goodbye to their channel... I wonder what the atmosphere was like in those final moments... probably quite sombre.
Very nice recon, as per usual. I have always been fascinated about the abrupt closure of Granada Plus.

I've never seen the Granada plus shutdown (because I wasn't born when they closed so basically I've never seen the channel before) thanks for recreating this and putting it on RUclips
A similar thing happened on Disney Channel India (Hindi Audio) on December 18, 2004. when a ad break during Kim Possible was cut off to a technical problems screen. the footage was not found

that closedown slide continued on analogue cable (NTL) until 2011 due to the demise of analogue cable
What i really like about this is that the generic music has a delay in when its played and when the placeholder slide appears. 10/10❤
Never seen an actual closedown of this channel, but that recreation of it felt more realistic.
Way better than the crappy Kinemaster made ones, and the fact Stormy helped to capture it on VHS makes it more real.
It sucks that they had to abruptly end the channel. It would've been nice if they announced it saying that the channel had to be closed down in favour of a new channel, being ITV3.
I did like the music, but it feels like a missed oppurtunity to abruptly end the channel rather than letting the episode air until the end before its closedown.

Seven days later (after Plus' closure), Granada Sky Broadcasting would be renamed as ITV Digital Channels Limited.
I think it was renamed as soon as the channel shut down. The reason why they abruply ended was not only because of ITV3 but also that Sky sold their share to ITV.

Nice recreation. I'm pretty sure it was on RUclips years ago but can't remember it. I didn't know they closed the channel down with 10 minutes notice and they couldn't even have the decency to wait until the programme was finished. ITV were real scummy during those years.
They Could've least had one of the Continuity Announcers saying "Granada Plus is No More from Tomorrow we're becoming ITV3"
