      Spot on. Whoever they choose from these two, Truss is by far the worst choice. At least Rishi Sunak is being honest! He too could promise a load of fairy tales, but I think he cares about the UK. He doesn't even need to do this job which tells us quite a lot about him. Truss is promising all this to get the papers on her side, that's all. She won't care about the UK - so long as she sees her ambition come to fruition 🙄 Fickle woman.

    Liz Truss is the definition of a flip-flopper. She was a Liberal Democrat at University, and now, she's a Tory. She voted Remain during the referendum, says she "regrets" her decision, and is now a staunch brexiteer. How many more big decisions is she going to flip-flop on? There's something shifty about Rishi, but I think he's leagues above Liz Truss in terms of competence, and that's not saying much.

      Of course he is more competent than Truss! Just because he is rich doesn't mean he has no awareness of practicalities financially for others. His family came to this country and worked very hard and he knows the value of money. He is a worker and has charisma. Charisma is important as well as brains and competency, because the PM has to liaise with other countries and needs to understand the nuances between cultures. I think Truss has had a personality by-pass!

    I love that Liz brought up Japan’s high level of government debt when she was talking about tax cuts. That is NOT an economic module that one should aspire to emulate. If you read a book, or even the Wikipedia article on Japan’s economy you would know that the country has been borrowing excessively for decades in an effort to kick start inflation and get out of a 30 year economic slump 🥴 Literally, common knowledge. Canada borrowed more money than any other developed country during the pandemic yet the economy has underperformed…sooo yeah Rishi's not scaremongering, or part of 'Project Fear'...💀

      High Gov. borrowing does not have a link to mortgage rates, that's how Rishi is 'fear mongering'. The Gov. debt is not nearly as big a deal as these politicians are stating, we have the same conversations about debt every 3-4 years and never get a surplus. It just doesn't matter as much as they always claim. The UK has had less than 10 surpluses in the last 70 years or so, and yet we aren't drowning and unable to borrow anymore....

      Restructuring the duration of COVID debt is not only sensible for a one in one hundred year event, it has many precedents f.e we have recently settled WWI debt. Reducing taxes also tends to increase tax revenues, precedents are the RoI and counter example France under Hollande. Sunak went native at the Treasury and their failed Keynesian philosophy, raising taxes is never a solution when times get tough, unwind QE and reduce the money supply, let interest rates find a new level and reduce taxes, that’s how Moneterism will reduce inflation and promote growth.

      I’m a landlord, and I agree with you. I do make a profit on my houses, as it’s a business. But I make sure I don’t put my tenants out. In fact I save enough, for when the pandemic happened. I let 3 of my tenants stay for free for 2 years until they got back on to their feet again. I know so many more landlords helped tenants. Even tho we lost out. The government did not help us. We had to help ourselves.
