@@aseemagarwal9493 there was a point during the premiership of Liz Truss where it was expected that she would resign within a week, which also happens to be the length of a lettuce's shell life. a British newspaper then started a livestream featuring a lettuce and wanted to determine whether that lettuce would go bad before she resigned. she resigned before the lettuce died and it has since become the best joke in all of British politics for 2022 and probably for years to come.

Sunak's speech about integrity and honesty has gone out of the window appointing that woman as home secretary.
Smells a bit like a backdoor deal. She got 'sacked' and/or resigned, which finished off Truss...and now she's right back in with Sunak.
He had no choice. He only got her vote right at the last minute. A deal was done with her and others in the cabinet to get votes and beat Boris in the leadership challenge. Boris claimed to have over the 102 required votes but lets be honest, it wouldn't be the first time he's lied

Rishi isn't defending a criminal, but offering another chance to someone despite their blunder, and it should be seen as it is, not taken out of context as if he's in support of crime! If Suella sucks, doesn't do her job right, she's expendable and replaceable. Perhaps Rishi didn't want her either but had to bite the bitter pill to keep the Tories together?

I'm from Canada and I'm watching this for the first time. We have Question Period here too, and while the political model is exactly the same (we're a former colony, after all), I find the difference in culture interesting. Especially the fact that British MPs say "Hear hear" and "yea" in parliament.
It gives a renaissance feel to it.

I feel like we're watching Harry and Malfoy going head on with each other. The important part about all this is seeing the outcomes and not just watching drama day in and day out. Knowing what policies are being implemented and what the outcomes will be---that is what I prefer to hear and watch.

Sunak started stuttering and losing train of thought once Starmer called him out for the recorded clip at the garden party.
As an american watching this, it's so fascinating to see politicians not attack each other over things like abortion, race, vaccines, science, etc. (things that shouldn't be debated but just are), goes to show how far gone our government is compared to the rest of the world. This is how politics should be.
America still suffer from mass shootings and drug addiction, yet politicians are never questioned on how to fix these issues, maybe besides gun control

As a Canadian, we have a very similar system, it's difficult to make others understand why this battle of wit is so important. It's because those who are politically active can listen to both sides and pick whom they'd like to follow. What would others prefer? A unitary system with no debate?
It works for China. And those who disagree are quietly ushered out.
I would prefer debate that I can actually hear, think through and weigh. Tradition has its place, but this noisy zoo seems dysfunctional.
