      Thank you for stating that
      I was going to ask a question , like how much influence does the positioning of the work lead have on the end result'
      Very few welders think about the direction that the current takes , and very few speak about the phenomenon called "arc Blow".

      With all due respect it's nothing to do with the fitup, but to do with Jed's pushing his rod into the slag. Never seen anyone in downward position pushing instead of dragging which is the proper technique, and this is why he's got slag inclusions. and it would never pass any tests.👍

    Your rod angle look like you were pushing the electrode instead of dragging it. I usually drag the rod toward me and hold it at a 75 degree angle. This way I can see the workpiece and get good penetration. Get more arc shots next time. The most important part of welding is the timing and electrode to work gap.

    So question bro, I'm from New Zealand working as a rigger welder (iron worker) we follow Australian standards for welding (aus/nz standerd) why do you push with 7018? I was taught when it slags you drag. Also on that I'd personally weld the inside of the beam as one weld, why do 3 separate welds? Iv always said there's no wrong and right way it's upto what the welder feel comfortable with and the end product...

    Never tack, start, stop, or connect a weld in a corner, why? Because it is almost impossible to remove all the slag and if x- rayed you WILL have slag inclusion thus failing to weld to standard. How to avoid this? Start your root knowing you must weld through all corners before breaking arc and plan accordingly.

    lol you push a 7018? then you show us your weld with all your cold laps, I would be shitting myself if i knew you welded any structure I was in. You should be a mig welder.

    See a lot thought he’s pushing the rod as I did, not sure it’s just he looks to be a left hander & the camera angle making it look a bit strange?

    • @Bo2xpro
      @Bo2xpro 5 лет назад +1

      He's pushing it and his welds look horrible. 7018 are drag rods. Only push depending on scenario such as vertical up

    Just a FYI, 6010 is not a pre approved electrode for structural. Check the AWS D1.1 code.

    I never seen a welder use two hands on 7018 and welding away from him and wrong angle on the rod. Stick to the grinder hand 👍
