Could someone please take a moment to educate me on the European use of the term "Kitcar"? I know many manufacturers are in Europe, but the only European kit car videos I see are all rally cars, not road cars.
@@JR-Rallye - Why are all the European "kitcar" videos just rally cars? I can never seem to find any street car builds except Locost and Ariel Atom videos.
Late answer but here it is. In this era of rally, mid 90s if I remember correctly, a large number of constructors found themselves without a car for the group A class. So the IFA made a new class of cars, the kit cars, the cars have to be FWD and must have a NA engine no larger than 2000 cc and the car must be based on the chassis of a regular car. And manufacturers made kits to convert those regular cars to become what we know as kit cars. And they were devilishly fast on tarmac, often beating the group A cars on tarmac specials.
