- We catch up with Calvin while he tells us about what it took to get his Lexus is200 build where it is today, as well as discussing what plans he has in store for the future.

Sorry mega late reply mate! Most of the work was carried out by Calvin himself eg fitting the air ride, car was painted by HT motors, other bits and pieces should be covered in the vid, anything in particular you wanna know I can find out.

Yeah man, between screwing up the audio so it’s clipping, and us coming at this as complete beginners shooting on an iPhone half the time, it’s not as good as I want it 😂 but hopefully as our skills and budget improve as we go, we’ll have some better gear and a proper mic in future 😁 thanks for the view and the feedback, appreciate it!

How is the j160 holding up?
Holding up good! Just running a basic exedy mr2 turbo clutch too. Plenty of people are using j160 with basic jz gte swaps too. I will probably upgrade the clutch down the line though
@@calvinkirby3103 i heard the j160 cant handle much torque.
They seem to handle 350lb-ft okay but id imagine an aggressive clutch setup would put more strain on the gearbox and rest of the drive train
@@calvinkirby3103 iv seen people run about 600hp on these and he said its just fine. Are there any mods that can be done so it can handle more torque.
@@ao8271 no mods that I'm aware of currently although the gearbox is the same as Nissan s15 and mazda rx8 (although ratios are different). I'm told the internals are interchangeable
Like to see proof of the 300hp
If the car attends a dyno day 2021 we’ll be sure to post up the exact power it makes. Calvin estimated the current bhp figure to be 300hp based on what the stock 1uz-fe V8 produces from factory, although this being an exact figure could vary obviously with age, parts of the engine having being rebuilt/freshened and some additional modifications to be a little more or under the stock vvti 290hp figure. Could be on account of the northern Irish accents, or could be because there was no mics used 😅 unfortunately due to a low budget and only starting out we have limited equipment but hoping to improve this in future! Thanks for the feedback 🤙🏼
