can't describe how long it took me to find a proper video for high protein but low calorie meals that aren't either expensive, stupidly elaborate in prep or just not my taste of ingredients. this video is not only straight to the point, no bullshit - it's also including simple meals that literally anyone can make, are still varied and actually full meals and cheap too! I'll start making these meals for myself starting this Sunday. thank you a lot!
I don't want to sound too dramatic, but your video brought me to tears. For a span of 2 years I have been watching meal prep videos over and over from a variety of different content creators, and they were always missing something - such as the amount of servings, or the amount of grams the food was, etc... But your video was very detailed, very simple, and by far a video that I will be using to re-start my meal prepping journey. I never watched a meal prep video so seamless. Please keep up these videos! You are changing lives!
😂 Dude. I think he just told on himself that he’s never cooked before and he’s in here tryin to teach us. I have never seen anyone fail at peeling an onion like that in my life
For the onion. Keep the root end on and chop off the wispy bit at the other end. Then chop it in half and take the skin off. Place each half flat side down. Make cuts from the root to the cut end, but not all the way to the root. Rotate 90 degrees and chop it up into a fine dice.

This looks both delicious and reasonable to do. Thank you!! I’m an old mom so not your target audience but your video came up recommended after my mind glazed over looking at other meal prep videos. It is the best meal prep one I have seen. Bc it looks like real food and totally doable. It seems like a lot of prep videos are too much work (bad shoulder) or are like “add a block of cream cheese and 3 packets of dry soup mix to one chicken breast” gross stuff. I’m going to make these soon w daughter helping so boom…you helped 2 generations here.
Same here (old mom viewing meal prep videos). This one does look so doable and tasty. Gonna have to multiply by 3 or four depending if oldest is home or not.
Just wanted to say you're such a great content creator, really useful advice and well-made videos that are straight to the point. I used to watch a lot of Scott Murray when I was getting into volume eating, but as we all know now he was struggling. I felt really sad after he died and it took me a while to start looking into other content creators that did similar stuff. I feel like your channel takes a much healthier, more life-friendly approach - your talks about quickly estimating calories for meals out, not getting too obsessive, I think are really needed in these kinds of dieting/cutting content. Just wanted to say I really appreciate your stuff, and keep up the great videos! I got to my heaviest I've ever been last month, but I've dropped a lot of weight already and a lot of it is thanks to the ideas here. Eating banging salads every day. Rep for the greek yoghurt + lemon juice salad dressing with paprika, it's my favourite.
Hey Greg, Not a week goes by where Scott doesn't cross my mind. Sometimes I literally just click on his channel to see the latest comments haha - it's cool to see him helping people even though he's no longer with us. A true legend 🙏 Glad to hear you're doing well 🙏
Scott was so knowlegdable! I used to watch his videos too. Such a shame that he is gone. I didn't know him except through his videos and some replies to comments but he seemed like such a decent guy with a lovely family.
For the cutting board problem- If you take a paper towel and wet it down, you can lay it in the counter and it will stop the cutting board from sliding. Then clean up with it when you are done.
Jonathan, just a tip for a cutting board that slides - put a damp dish towel or cloth on the counter under it and that should help it stop sliding around as much.
There is so much shite out there when it comes to meal preparation. Especially for someone living in Ireland. We just don't have "fancy" things. Your channel is indispensable for us 🍀🇮🇪
Great content.. Really enjoyed this mate. I'm a chef so I must say your onion cutting skills made me raise a brow.. some tips. - damp cloth under the board to stop it slipping - sharp knife will make life easier too - cut the other end off the onion first. You want to leave the root on. This will stop it falling apart.
Oh my goodness ! I usually never comment but I have to commend u! This was the MOST seamless meal prep I have ever done ! For one ! I jus had a air fryer collecting dust and u encouraged me to use it ! So much more convenient than jus using the oven! Then the time management is great
i like that you show that meal prepping can be as easy/simple as you want it to be. I felt like it was quite daunting when I started but now it's a breeze since I found a a few meals that are easy, filling, and satiate me. I kind of wish that I was more adventurous in trying new recipes, but I'm always worried a meal won't be as voluminous as I would like it to be and thus less satiating. I have a big appetite so this is definitely meal priority 1. Anyways, like always great content!
I hear you! Something you could do is use roughly the same amount of non starchy veg in whatever meal you’re having. This is typically the most filling aspect of a meal so if this is constant and you are using a lean protein source, satiety will probably be similar 👌
Just came across your channel. Watched few vids, great recipes and very easy. One tip for cutting vegetables, don't have to use cutting board. Save time and less dishes to wash. Get a smaller narrower knife and cut it all in your hand. For example onion, cut both tops off, peal it, then hold the onion in one hand bottom up and with the other hand with the knife cut in 5 mm spaces like a crossword, then cut across till the top into the pan. Peppers, potatoes easy as well. With some practice you will cut faster. I use cutting board only for the meats if I buy bigger pieces and have to cut in chunks or snaller bits for the cats 😅
Hey Jonathan. I do not enjoy meal prepping at all, but it is so crucial when you're in the gym all the time. I am going to do this for the upcoming week. Good ideas and variety. I make a lot of your recipes. Hope you're doing well. Thanks 🙂
Looks amazing! I will try. I'm more German English in a French home so it'll be pasta meats & cheese & veggies, butter & bacon . And just a dob of butter.
Concerning the sliding of the cutting board, just dampen a dish cloth or even a couple of paper towels. Put that on the countertop surface and the cutting board on top of that. No more slipping board, simple as that. 👍
Might be a bit late, but here's a Pro Tip for the Sliding Cutting Board: Place a damp paper towel (I tend to you use one that I have used to dry my hands with after washing them before meal prepping) underneath the cutting board. This will provide friction and prevent the cutting board from sliding all over the place when chopping things. Thanks to the wifey for the tip! Hope it helps!
Got so many tips for cooking from you Jonathan while watching all your videos from the beginning. So entertaining. And you are one determined young man. Thank you for your excellent videos and inspiration. 😘👍🇨🇦
I appreciate your videos alot, I'm pretty new to a calorie deficit I'm trying to lose 35lbs Ive an underactive thyroid which I take medication for so really eating right is what I'm doing and been Irish myself I feel confident enough to find these food items cheers
I wasn't entirely sure what to think at first, but seeing the meals come together, I would most definitely eat these at work. Thanks for sharing this with us! :)
I’ve never cooked everything separately and then assembled the meals after, I’ve always cooked as a whole meal (or multiple portions) and often get fed up. Looks like less of a headache this way, definitely going to give it a go and see how I get on. I like seeing how other people meal prep and take inspiration from it.
Id have to cook the mince in the tomato sauce otherwise it’s too bitter and needs to reduce. Like others t towel under chopping board helps and make sure your Vegetable knife is sharpe. It’s safer than a blunt blade. Onions you need to take all the skin off as well as the leaves. Knife skills take time. What I really love is it’s normal food in normal portion sizes helping people who are starting out. I like to buy big boxes of chicken pressure cook them portion them out and then when I do my overnight oats take a packet out for the next day. I’d suggest having a look at delia smith and Mary berry they teach skills well and it’s normal food that does not take 300 expensive ingredients to make a meal. It’s so nice to see a creator making content that everyday people can follow and not let’s eat 20,000 calories for shock value. I’m nearly 8 stone down and yes fitness and diet make a difference but making sustainable changes to your food and the way you live makes it a lifestyle change not a phase.
Hmm what a great idea ! Maybe get a shaker and pre make a bunch of your spice blend as well ( salt pepper smoked paprika garlic) And then you don’t have to keep getting out all the different bottles 😁
This is wonderful and perfect! I will prepare for my new week. What is CHO that yoh mention it in videos subtitle? I am new in meal preps and I dont know what is it!
Yeah, you've got the idea right about cutting onion. But instead of cutting not all the way down, cut all the way through but not all the way to the base/root. So it stays together at the base, then you'll have a better result when you finish cutting them. And please, season the chicken before you put it in the pan. Season the chicken and let it sit sucking that stuff up for a while (the absolute best way is to marinate it over night)
Very nice ideas ! Could you note down the quantities for the ingredients next time (and the amount per portion) ? I know that you said it but it’s easier to find it back. And also note down the amount of calories per portion ? 🙏
It's awesome that you did 5 different dishes in one meal prep, it feels way less boring than the usual 5 exact same meals a week PS: you gotta sharpen that knife my man, it seemed like you cut those onions with a butter knife LOL
Hello Jonathan, just found your videos. This is the first one I have watched. I love the meal prep advise. It is the thing I struggle with the most. thanks for the help.
Use a damp dishcloth or baby wipe under your chopping board and it won't move. Also to stop crying with onions, leave the root on until it's all cut. Grand prep, I just use veggie alternatives.

Just made these. This is the most fun I’ve ever had meal prepping. Once complete, I immediately ate the wrap for dinner.
For the onion. Keep the root end on and chop off the wispy bit at the other end. Then chop it in half and take the skin off.
Place each half flat side down. Make cuts from the root to the cut end, but not all the way to the root. Rotate 90 degrees and chop it up into a fine dice.
I did not expect such few calories for such great macros and volume! I'm really enjoying your recipes and will be giving them a try!
As a student, I loved this video. This meal prep is going to save me a lot of time and is also gonna keep me healthy. thank you

Thank you!!!! I’ve been trying to meal prep for ages and your food is finally food that looks like stuff I actually want to eat!!!!
By far the easiest meal prep video I’ve watched !
Hey mate, the chopping board trick is to put a cloth underneath, wont slide.
Very good idea of using base ingredients to make varied meals. One of the pitfalls of meal prep is falling in to eating a bunch of the same stuff.

I enjoyed the American/Scottish? I think accent. Looks like my meal prep. Great job. I usually roast same veggies in oven, will try in air fryer.
sit your cutting board on a clean kitchen towel. It will help it not slide around until you have a better one.
Use a damp dishcloth or baby wipe under your chopping board and it won't move. Also to stop crying with onions, leave the root on until it's all cut. Grand prep, I just use veggie alternatives.
Very helpful, thank you! :)

add a wet towel or flat sponge under the cutting board. so it stops sliding.
