    It’s a beautiful guitar! I can’t believe it’s only $200 bucks.

    I own this guitar. It had 3 issues coming out of the box. The tone control wasn't wired correctly and acted as a volume. The truss rod cover screw wasn't centered, so the ugly hole for truss rod access ( and I mean looks like an angry teenager hacked through the finish with a chisel) was peaking around the cover just a touch. The nut slots were just about the perfect depth, but the nut isn't as wide as the slot for the nut in the headstock. None of the flaws were egregious if you're willing to leave the tone on 10. I lowered the action and intonated the changes I made, and bam, it's my go to next to my chair. It's a gorgeous guitar. The flame maple cap ( Yes cap, not veneer. 3/4 inches in the middle down to 1/4" on the edges.) looks amazing. My guitar has fewer finish flaws than the one pictured on the Amazon ad. My upgrades so far are PRS amber knobs, which required imperial measurement pots, so CTS full size pots, which means I've wired the tone knob correctly now. Filling and redrilling the truss rod cover, and replacing the screw with a smaller black one. I added gaff tape to the back, because when I went to the smaller screw, the truss rod cover would rattle. Lots of oil on the fretboard (it came very dry). The pickups are good. I'd only swap them if you were looking for something specific. The tuners work, but they feel like cheap tuners. It's mostly about feel. I want more consistency/smoother tapering to the turns. I've got some used 205c Grovers I'm going to drop in along with a black tusq nut, and then I'm calling it done.

    I recently purchased one of these and I am extremely impressed with it. I actually like the vine inlays and was suprised they did not take me long to get used to them. I have purchased the IYV Les Paul and Mustang too and have been super impressed with those as well. Lower cost equipment has come a long way. Keep the content coming, it us fun to watch.

    I have a semi hollow iyv tele that i took to a luthier. Its now a metal machine. It doesnt look like it though lol. Natural finish and semi hollow with invaders and all new blacked out hardware. Locking tuners and all too. I even threw strap locks on it for fun. For around 350 i have an 800 dollar tele.

    I bought mine a few years ago. At the time they were rarely seen on Amazon in the listings. The guitar is a bit bulky and sounds wonderful. I have read some negative reviews on Amazon but my guitar is almost perfect. Only flaw I can find on the entire guitar is a slight gap around one of the inlays that I filled with white glue. Maybe the quality control was better when they first started making them a few years back.

      Great comment! Yes, my IYV had a couple of minor issues that were easily fixed. There is an "extra" hole where the pickup wiring runs through. They obviously mis-drilled the first time. At under $300, if, overall, the guitar is good - which this one is really good - I can overlook "quirks" like that. If it doesn't adversely affect the playing or sound AND the error is hidden, I don't mind. Obviously, if this was approaching $1000 or more I would've found it highly unacceptable and returned it. At sub-$500 I want it to play and sound good and possibly be a platform for upgrades. I definitely hold different standards for price ranges; they have to be playable in all ways, though.

    I think these have 24 frets like a PRS does too,with it's 25" scale length ,IYVs have very unique pickups,I have a handful of their guitars, and I would never change the pickups,they have a sound of their own,and it's very good, it's a shame they don't make these without the fancy fretboard,some like it, I'm not a fan.

    • @MotorRoseMusic

      You are correct. 24 frets.

      I was afraid the fretboard would be too much, too cheap looking, too hard to adjust to with no dot inlays, but I've grown rather fond of the "tree of life" inlay, and it looks great. The frets are marked with multiple leaves where the dots would be.

    25 inches is 1/4 longer than an LP, but 1/2 shorter than strat. Closer to an LP really, or a PRS. My Carvin is 25" scale i freaking love that scale, so comfy!

      You are correct and I know better. Just speaking off the cuff, you can make dumb mistakes. Usually I write stuff down on a dry erase board. I will tell you this, with 9's on this guitar it is "super-slinky", to borrow a phrase.

    That's a really cool finish, I really enjoy your channel, you don't pretend to be anyone and you toss up cheap gear we all look at and review it for us with no bias. Yeah, there are many channels that do this, but you upload regularly for a small channel (this is smart), and you don't play like shit so it helps to assess whether the gear is for me or not. Cheers.

    I just got done fixing all the thing's thar were wrong with my ivy ip300 guitar. I paid $237.00 on amazon. no cable, no wahme bar, I guest thar is why it was $237. I had to make a new bone nut, tighten all the nuts and screws on the tuner's. had to level all of the frets, lemon oil the fret board, and polish the guitar. check the electronics to make sure that everything was grounded. Now it plays great. I probably wont have to do anything for year's, except change the strings, witch I just did .

    I got this guitar recently for $202. What I expected was a mediocre guitar at best. What I got was very different. When I unboxed it, I was very surprised that It looked better than I expected. More importantly, the build quality far exceeded my expectations. Maybe I just got one that was built on a good day. What I know is, this guitar that I received is exceptional in almost every way. I did not expect to be impressed. I am.

      @@MotorRoseMusic I don't why my expectations were so low. This is my third IYV. The first was the double neck. It had some cosmetic issues, but moreover, the nuts were really bad. I had to replace them. But the core guitar was amazing (still is, play it every night). The second one was the IJZ Semi hollow. The thinner one. It was flawless. Something about this one I wasn't so sure. Maybe because I am not a PRS guy. At any rate, I am overall very pleased with IYV. There I said it.

    do you ever use the whammy? Mine will not stay in tune when i use mine.

    • @MotorRoseMusic
      @MotorRoseMusic  9 месяцев назад

      I do not, even on my American Strats. I put 5 springs on them. You really have to keep the saddles and nut lubed. I just don't play like that so I don't have much experience messing with them. I had an American Elite Strat and had a hell of a time keeping it in tune. Finally I just put 2 more springs on it and tightened them a bit. No more tuning issues. However, if you love using the whammy bar there are many videos out there. They will tell you to lube the saddles and nuts and find the right balance with the bridge and spring tension. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    • @jonhoward437
      @jonhoward437 8 месяцев назад

      I hit the nut slots with some fine grit sandpaper to smooth them out, and don't have tuning issues with light whammy use. I'm going to drop a black tusq in, and I'm guessing that'll be more stable as well.

    All guitar makes with any sizable distribution use CNC machines to build their guitars.
    Gibson even uses a PLEK-CNC for set up,
    Talk about needing or possessing a Skill a lack of?
