Thanks very much, for watching and I think you are talking about the maroon colored Thinline Tele style guitar. Yes we've seen quite a few of these and they seem like very nice guitars 😎👍!
I had that guitar too. It was good. Had to think the herd a little, and you can't get anything for them... so I gave it to a Buddy of mine who does some luthery work for me. He can do something with it too. Incredible player. And he loved that smokin' P-90.
It's a pretty guitar, and man... she's a big ole' Gal ! I really dig what IYV has been doing these last few years. The IJZ 300 is one of my faves in my collection. I think this is a solid guitar. Another great vid, guys. Keep the good stuff coming!
This might be one of the most enjoyable demos yet, love the looks and sound of that IYV. In my old age I think it's a bit bulky and heavy for me, but man, it's really something, and at that price too. 🎸👍🇺🇸
I liked your review. I like this guitar so much I have watched every review I could find and yours is one of the best. Your playing really made that guitar sound like it should. I ordered one today because if I waited until next month and it was sold out or discontinued. I would never forgive myself. So Thanks.
Thanks very much Michael for watching and for your very kind comments. I think the guitar has gone up a bit in price since we reviewed it. It's $244 now ,but still a good buy 😎👍!
Wow, didn't expect the really mellow smooooooth Jazz as part of the demo. I bought the IYV 300 . . . whatever . . Jazz box, and after working out the bugs in my new Monoprice 15 tube amp, am getting pretty nice warm sound; but after hearing this, wish I'd spent a little more for the 500. Love your work, so hard to find good Jazz reviews on the lower price stuff. Thank You am subscribed!
Thanks very much for watching and for your kind comments and for subscribing. Unfortunately we have done our last guitar review as of about a month ago. We do have nearly 500 videos for you to watch so please enjoy 😎👍!
Wonderful demo and commentary. You’ll want to recommend an Epiphone L5 or Broadway “jumbo” case to go with this beastie. Mine also came with chrome hardware, standard nickel steel frets, and a bone nut. The tuning machines are hands down the best quality I have come across from this price point and a bit higher. They are more like actual Grover tuners (non-locking) and do not slip at all. The weight for mine is at 9.1 lbs, and sits very comfortably with a wide leather strap. The mods, I am making to mine are changing to locking tuning machines, Schaller strap buttons, pickguard, and possibly a different trapeze. For a pickguard, a Gibson ES-175 is going to require significant amounts of work, and a long ES-335 may require a little less modification.
One other observation, the bridge on my IYV IJZ 500 NA is some type of rosewood and was cut beautifully as was the bone nut. The cutting of the nut and bridge were previous complaints by other purchaser and commentators. Again, I couldn’t be happier with this guitar. Oh, the truss rod cover is Hangul (Korean) and is “Destiny Sound of Music.” The front sides and back are rather thick, so longer amounts of threads will be needed for pots and jacks.
Seems like my comment didn't post, so I will reiterate. It's a beautiful guitar for $167US. How that translates to $486CAD- triple the price- in Canada kind of stupefies me. Great demo and you gotta love that jazz!
Love these big semi-acoustics. Sounds Great, as Always Dan, and diggin’ the cool Leo Pic, on the intro link. You guys blow me away with your affordable Reviews! Stay Well!
sweet unit guys! bet rockibillie fans will be all over this one! them gold destinys are king too! wish IYV would offer them as seperate kits as well as tuners etc....bet theyd be able to move em! P.S. love the "woody" sound too! giggity
A really good looking guitar from the far, right choice for playing in a Rockabilly band. But to me the unplugged sound wasn’t what to expect from a hollow body guitar; not that open clear sound known from some others. Plugged in it sounded very descent imao. But Dan, that Summertime interpretation... ❤ and after that some good ol’ jazzy bigband sounds❣️ And of course it can distorsion - you can play country on a Flying V if you can 😂. It’s not the guitar that makes good music... Please go on doing what you guys do, so many like to watch it a lot ...
Thanks very much Guenther for watching and for your kind comments. I'm sorry to report that we forgot to do the Bortzian E thing on both recordings yesterday. I'm just getting old and feeble and I forget 😪.
Hey Guys, Ok... Where do you bolt the license plate on that truck?? I absolutely love the spaltedy/flamey look to her. That burnt honey against the bright gold is an awesome combination. She gets an "A" in the looks department. She sounds clean on the deep and rich end as well as loud and strong enough with the gain and distortion up some. For the money, I'd say it's a keeper. One fine instrument you got there! Thank you gentlemen, great job once again. P.S. It was nice to hear Dan break out the Jazz chops too!!
Yes, The Days of Wine and Roses was indeed a film starring Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick. You forgot to mention also that the theme for that movie was composed by Henry Mancini! 😉 PERSONAL OPINION: Dan is far too good a guitar player for that guitar. It’s DECENT-the build quality and craftsmanship, while not SUPERB, is obviously decent, and the pickups are obviously decent too, but that guitar is acoustically very much sub-par given its enormous size and weight, and it especially showed with the lack of resonance and feedback in the second song Dan played with the hotter patch. It might be nice for show, but I think the smaller IJZ-300 is a better guitar than the IJZ-500.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I actually have several quite good (IMO) jazz hollow body guitars: - Sadowsky Jimmy Bruno; Eastman (can’t remember the model, but I did install a Kent Armstrong hand wound pickup on it;) Peerless Gigmaster Jazz ; PRS SE hollow body. Also several 335 type axes.
@@dryan08 I had a feeling you might have some good jazz guitars like that, Dan! You are clearly experienced enough to know EXACTLY what to look for in a guitar! 😉
Thanks very much for watching and for your kind question, the only answer I can give you is I have no idea. I just purchased this one for review, and that's what showed up 🎃👍!
for a $170 dollars you can certainly get something worse than this, there are guitars that cost more and they play like crap. it all comes down to the quality and what someone is willing to invest in the product there making.
Thanks very much for watching, I have tried lavalier mics, but they seem to only work intermittently. Since we do everything in real time and in one take, they just aren't practical. I use a Bluetooth headset since I am doing everything on my phone. They are very inexpensive (under $20) but boy does it help with sound. Not just the volume, but it sounds much better overall.
I have a IYV thinline telecaster style with P-90's , it's one of my favorites.❤ Absolutely gorgeous ES-175 copy!!!

@@leodanryan966 Yes, it has a highly figured top , maroon, burgundy, red... Beautiful....lol. Cream colored P-90's. It plays like a dream.

I also have a thinline telecaster from IYV. I like it so much. I had to see what other guitars IYV makes and found this one. Had to get it.

I have 3 iyv guitars and am happy with all. I love jazz boxes so I lust after this model. Is it crazy that it reminds me of a Gibson Super 400?
Thanks very much for watching and for your kind comments, Dan may be familiar but I am not with a Gibson Super 400, so yes you are crazy sir 😉👍!
Sounds pretty darn good. Was the bridge placed correctly and did you check the intonation out of the box? Nice review too!
