Thanks, Jana. My gardening seasoning is on its way. I always have too many tomatoes. haha, a good problem to have. I have Roma, Beefsteak, Cherry (red and yellow), grape, and sweet smaller than cherry tomatoes. I wish there was a way to send you guys at least 1 pkg of them through the summer. I will freeze some. Sorry, this video had me thinking about the tomatoes. 🤔😋❣ Hugs
I ran into Kroger’s today because I only needed about five things. Didn’t feel like fighting the Walmart superstore for just a few things. But I was pretty shocked at how expensive things are in Kroger. I never was a shopper there when I lived in my sticks and bricks. I pretty much shopped at Walmart and Aldi‘s watching the ads.❤🤗
I'm with you on shopping the loss leaders IF I need the item AND if I have the room to store them. I tend to shop Aldi and Walmart the most. I'm constantly consulting the Walmart app and comparing prices while I'm in Aldi's. Great video!
Up here, it is the sale price when you buy two. I don't need two so I go to a different store or do without. Thank you for sharing your shopping tips with us, Jana. Stay safe and stay cool
Great idea to compare pricing and write it down. One area I always check, in every store I go into, is the clearance aisle/section. Also, remember to check dates. I went to a Walmart in Tucson AZ where the dairy section and freezer section were both chuck full of out of date items. No excuse for that! But having experienced that, I always check.
With prices so high right now for groceries - it is a good idea to check prices in the stores you are near. Great if you have more than one place ..... competition. My Mom taught me ( as a young Mom myself ) how to make the most of your grocery dollars. Not sure it the younger generation does that - am sure some do. Good one....
Thanks, Jana. Good advice about making sure you have the store's app downloaded to get the discounts. There was a store near one place I used to camp that had great sales pricing but this was before the age of apps and if you didn't have the store membership card, you got charged full price. One of the things that concerns me about being on the road is how much it will affect my food budget. I will have to take into account my limited refrigeration space and the cost of fuel (diesel in a rig that doesn't get fantastic mileage. Weighing using $20 in fuel to save $5 in groceries. LOL) Do you have ALDIs out there? They don't do sales but they typically have really good prices. Also, here, I have found that some of the smaller, local, IGA stores have outrageous pricing on processed (boxed, canned) foods but really good prices on meats and produce -- and the produce is fresh.
Yes, that is part of the equation is the travel time, diesel. It isn't always cheaper to go to Walmart. There isn't Aldi out here but I do like shopping at Aldi when I see them.
Thank you! I like u write the sale price so u can decide to get it or wait. Great idea! My mother hustles safeway and uses their app. I’m not quite that dedicated, but I admire the effort
I use Kroger's for groceries and it is amazing how much the savings ad up when you do your homework beforehand. It took some getting used to regarding the digital coupon stuff but so worth it! Btw, I think my neighbor still has a stash of TP from the covid scare! 😂
Great ideas. I love Aldi also.
Really cool tips Frug! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. I just downloaded the Lowe’s app and I recently invested in a vacuum sealer!

Thanks, I like Aldi alot but they aren't in the area that I have been traveling. When there is one near I prefer to shop there.

I avoid spending my money at Walmart (aka Malwart) but when I have to it's not for groceries. I hate that mega-company.

My Walmart is 5 mins. from my house. I buy reduced products and batch cook for freezer meals.
I keep a notebook of items I buy so I can refer back to it. Item/size/price/date/store
It's always fun hearing how others "shop" for food. Have to admit I'm not as dedicated 😁

Farmers Market in the area?
Frito bean dip is crazy overpriced. A regular can of refried beans add a little salsa, makes a great dip for a 1/3 of the price.
