    Hi mate great video, I had a job today fitting skirting on a 5 side bay window, each were less than 30° angles on each corner, I was told by the owner that they had carpenters out that wouldn't even touch it, I now realise why 🤣 very very difficult, also didn't help that the walls were bowed and twisted slightly and had to scribe behind each each edge about 35mm

    DIY question: Apologies if I missed it but what is the purpose of making the very precise bevel cut (from around 4 mins) prior to scribing? The cut is a perfect dissection of the internal angle, achieved through the very neat drawing trick with the level, but, if it’s going to be back cut, would a 45 degree cut not been just as effective at exposing the profile prior to cutting? Super helpful video though so many thanks!

    • @spendtimesavemoneydiy
      @spendtimesavemoneydiy  3 года назад +8

      If it's cut at 45 degrees then it will fit neatly into a 90 degree corner. The amount of profile that is cut away changes with the different angles. So the bevel cut to expose the profile is half the angle of the corner. Hope that makes sense.

    Great video! I'm confused at 50 sec when you said the angle was 45 degrees. Am I missing something because it is clearly an obtuse angle? I have a sliding bevel, but I didn't know how to use it; now I do! Nicely paced video. Thank you!

    • @mcamoeba23
      @mcamoeba23 3 года назад +1

      I think I understand now. It's 45 degrees beyond the 90 degrees.

    • @spendtimesavemoneydiy
      @spendtimesavemoneydiy  3 года назад +2

      If you cut a piece at 45 degrees it would fit the angle to simplify for viewers. If I'd have said 135 degrees I think it would have confused people.
