    Just bought one of these, the 5 inch, in like new condition for UNDER $200.
    When I threw a fresh ambassador x on it and tuned it up I was stunned. In addition to being loud and cutting, there's something that *feels* sooo good, as he mentioned. Maybe the SuperHoops have something to do with that... ive not played enough of Pearl's stuff to really compare it to anything.
    Without dampening it absolutely squeals and I reckon would cut through just about anything in a live mix, and with one piece of moongel I was able to get a really great recorded sound with no processing. I'm stunned given how much I paid.
    This is an old video obviously, but suffice to say, these are GREAT snares, and they are still easy to find on the used market in 2021. Highly reccomend picking one of these up while they are still cheap. One of the best deals on a snare I can think of.

    I got this snare a few years ago and it’s siiiiick!! I use it for a funk band and a hardcore metal band and it cuts!! So diverse and a huge sound despite not being very deep. Sweet experience 🤙

    Sweetwater has the best reviews. Nick is a great spokesperson and obviously a seasoned drummer to boot. You really do get a great feel for the drum next to actually seeing it and playing it in person. Next best thing! buy this drum if you can tune it will actually sound like this.

    I love the slight ring that steel snare drums give, such a pleasing sound when combined with a nice, deep bass drum and crisp high hats, great snare from Pearl!!

    Nice sounding snare played by an awesome drummer. As a drummer myself and a fan of Mike Keneally, I have come to appreciate Nick's playing.

    A lot of people say that the Chad Smith snare and other similar metal snares have too much ring and snap. I had one for year and I played Jazz and Swing to Rock. It has an awesome dynamic range as it's so sensitive. 10 lug snares do tend to give more back as he mentioned, maybe because the hoops are more rigid?

    I have this snare at 1st o didn't use it as much bit now that I put the heads i want on it and then tune it right top and bottom and put the snare wires on right this snare sound GREAT! To me imo this snare can compete to some brass snare and other various higher end wood snares. (If you tune it right!). I like this snare a lot and if you don't want it to ring as much or at all just put a plastic ring on it and it's ready to go, with a whole NEW great sound. You can really hear each hit/note when played no matter how fast you play. JS FYI 👍🖖

      SpaceSpud96 But still, Ludwig hardwares are some of the worst.

    • @JoeNocella
      @JoeNocella 7 лет назад

      Ludwig Atlas hardware is great. It works and looks great. DW is known for hardware but it changes the whole look of the toms. All that metal is not very pleasing to the eye IMO. Also, Ludwig snares are the best IMO. That P-85 is outdated and should be replaced which I think it is. I no longer see it on new snares.

      @@strawberry7900 thanks mate. I used some CLR and some other CLR type stuff with rust converter in it and it got better.
      I was thinking of using autosol. I reckon that might get the job done. Few little spots on the shell still. Hopefully they polish out.
