I have a 110 v sanding floor machine that I wish to convert to run on both 1110 and 240 do you know where I could find instructions to do this, please?
Everyone shows how but never bothers to show you why. I've watched 5 videos now no one bothers to resaw a 2*4 before and after to demonstrate the dead space lag.
Good video but very specific to model types and the US market. I know Americans seem to love wire nuts but not legal in many other countries especially in Europe. Some of the comments are VERY scary and display a serious level of obvious incompetence and utter lack of understanding of even the basics of how AC synchronous motors and three phase motors work and the potential for lethal mistakes. If you are going to mess around with AC machines of any type ... 1. LEARN THE BASICS THOROUGHLY! 2. Take adequate safety precautions ... gloves, rubber boots, current limiting, rapid power off etc. 3. View LOTS MORE videos before even THINKING about changing voltages and for GOD'S sake learn and appreciate Ohms law PLEASE!
@Nathan Mcilveen not just 240v in the UK. My domestic voltage is REGULARLY above that and often as high as 250v which is what the original UK voltage was many years ago. 3 phase "phase to phase" on a 240 volt nominal single phase supply is 240 x √3 = 415.69 volts - hence the 415 volt warning signs on European (and CERTAINLY British) 3 phase switching gear. A nominal 220 volt supply provides 220 x √3 = 381.05 volts across phases. That is 35 volts lower than in the nominal 240 volts case. BUT if, as is often the case in the UK, the single phase voltage is as high as 250 volts, that presents as 250 x √3 = 433.01 volts. So between phases you should EXPECT as high as 433 volts to as low as 381 volts! Over a 50 volt difference! ANYONE not experienced, well versed or qualified in such matters MUST be aware that these voltages are LETHAL! You don't understand? Then STAY AWAY AND DO NOT MESS ABOUT WITH SUCH STUFF ... There are enough Darwin awards each year!
Hi. What about the internal bandsaw cables or the ignition switch. Are them prepare to receive 220 w I have a 110 w bandsaw in a 220w country and use it w/ a transformer. Can you explain a little bit more. Thank you
if your device is 110 volts only plug into a 220 v, it will toast no matter what wattage. thats why you need to replace or buy 220 volt transformer with the corresponding wattage.
This is fine for electric motors with a provision for switching voltages such as the one shown but how does one reconnect INTERNALLY for 220 volt a STRAIGHT 115 volts motor without external switching panel nor wires as shown in the video...????????
There's a name plate on the motor/compressor it should tell you if it's 240 capable and how to wire it with a vague schematic. As for the light bulbs and potential 120v pressure switches, thermostat or anything similar it's probably going to melt or explode 🤷
The 120v plug is physically capable of handling up to 250v, but it’s a 125v configuration. In order to avoid problems such as were encountered prior to the 1920s, when America used both 110v AND 220v supplies but used plugs interchangeably, make sure your plug corresponds to the proper voltage.
I have a plug that's regular 120v but I've made it 240v all over the faceplate I've written "240!!! ONLY!" so yeah it's more than possible as long as your load isn't pulling more than 15 amps per leg or line

Isn't it required to also change the swt to one that handles 220v?

so can i buy a generator in Canada, and do this so i can ship it to Africa and use it in a house wired for 220v?
basically you have 2 120 V coils in parallel and just rewiring them in series to put 240 into them.
Thanks, just the video I needed. I have the same motor too. Jet jointer
110 grinder or drill can convert to 220? thanks for the responce sir.
How about a hardwired device (NOT a plug in) like a ceiling fan?
Can i convert 120 v item to 220 without converter please help me

Michael Rhoads I was also looking for that. Found nothing.
Can I use this method on a Honda EU2200i generator?

When have you ever seen an electrician wear gloves and rubber boots? Very strange comment.
@@SightsNjunkI should have said rubber soled boots or shoes. Where have I seen rubber boots being worn ... In power stations! 🤔🙄

May I ask where did you bought that motor?

Can I do that to a110 v fridge? Convert to 220v

How to convert 3phase 110 volt to single phase 230 volt
Can this can be done to a tv or vacuum etc ?
depends what country your in
Convert 220 to 110 ??
is this applicable to all model
Hi iam wondering if i can do this change in a stove ?
most electric stoves can only be wired 220 volt.
do we really have to change the plugs or just make the internal wires changes? Thanks
WOODS plugs. Your 110 outlet isn't wired up for 220.

Muito bom amigão 👍👍👍👍
WOW!!!
How can I do that on a ceiling fan
i dont understand just change the connection that is...
did not show or explain how to wire the source, receptical supplying the 220 volts, plug it in a 110 v and it wont run.
You have to make sure you have the right size gauge wire and a dual pole breaker along with a 20 AMP outlet and plug end to get it fully hooked up.
Εχω ενα δισκοπριονο που δουλευει μονο με 110 και θελω να δουλευει με 220 ειναι SIilkan Αμερικανικο
vary nice
