They are in my humble opinion one of the top five artists ever to record music. I was hooked from day one.❤

The real "Crime of the Century" is that there are so many people who still have not heard all seven songs on this classic LP!! Thank you for doing your part to help change that, Shawn, and before you are done with this album make sure you read to "Asylum"!!!!

You definitely got the Supertramp bug, Shawn. My favorite of all their albums - all the songs are amazing! Been a fan going on 50 years, and I never get tired of their sound. Be sure to check out Rudy. Supertramp didn’t get really popular in the U.S. but were huge in Europe.

This is one of my favorite of the keyboard based "instrumentals" that made Supertramp great. Nice reaction.

If you listen closely the 8-note piano ostinato that starts at 2:58 adds notes as the piece goes on.

Thanks for this comment, I noticed this many years ago and am surprised that there is little mention of this musically brilliant aspect of this instrumental crescendo. This is definitely one of my favourite Supertramp numbers because of this.
      A rock classic.

One of my favorite Supertramp songs - it has it ALL! Glad you found this one. Could tell you were really feeling it and yes, it is heavy, almost haunting.

Supertramp has so many great songs and albums that I am at a loss as to why they aren't already in the R&R Hall of Fame, when artists are being inducted into the Hall, like Dolly Parton (who is awesome), who have little or nothing to do with Rock & Roll. Blue Oyster Cult, is also not in the Hall, which I think is a crime against music itself, seeing as BOC Rocks hard and also has made many great songs.
If Supertramp and Blue Oyster Cult don't belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, then there is no justice.
BTW, great song and reaction. ❤✌

For those of us old enough to have always loved Supertramp, we know they are one of the greats. RUclips is slowly helping everyone else catch up, and you are helping.

I think Supertramp had such a unique sound, I guess it's not for everyone. That's how I would answer the question, "Why aren't they mentioned with the great bands?" All I can tell you is that when I was a freshman in college in 1976 I heard them being played and loudly, throughout the dorms. It's fantastic that they are turning on a new generation of music fans.

They didn’t receive much airplay in the US until the album Breakfast in America. Here in Canada, we were lucky enough to be introduced to them when Crime of the Century came out. In my 62 years, I’ve heard a lot of great music from the 60’s to the 90’s and in retrospect, Supertramp has become my favourite out of all of them. I’m glad these reaction channels are discovering them and hopefully giving them the wider audience they deserve. Not a bad song from Crime of the Century to Famous Last Words.

One of my all-time top Rock Bands of my list.....knew them when they first came out in the public with this album which displays their extraordinary talent. Great musicians. Great transitions like Yes and Genesis and great vocals. This is a masterpiece song...and whole album is a masterpiece!!! Great reactions Shawn to this song....and when I heard the whole album, I got chills and reacted the same way you reacted!!!!

This song is a real mood - I can see you were getting it, too. I love how it pares back to just a single keyboard before building again - a bit like the guitar in Yes's "Starship Trooper". The Supertramp albums "Crisis What Crisis", "Crime of the Century" and "Breakfast In America" are almost completely faultless and worth album reviews. "Even in the Quietest Moments" is nearly as good. Beyond that it's more patchy, but most bands would kill for a run of four albums as good as those. The "CotC" album should really be taken as a whole, track by track in order.

I had this album in 85 or 86, I don't remember well, and Supertramp IS the best band. Most people my age knows about them and put them together with Pink Floyd... maybe the Zeppelin, Stones and Purple people were more snobbish about it (not US, south hemisphere here) but my thing was Pink Floyd, Supertramp and Marillion. Only one of those have the recognition it deserves.

I think Supertramp doesn’t get the same recognition, for a couple of reasons. One they broke with their first big album, Crime of the Century, a bit later than the others, so they didn’t get the same leg up. Two, they broke about the same time that listeners were turning to Punk Rock in rebellion over the bloated pretentiousness of some progressive rock bands and they were caught in the crossfire

  • @lenhudson8194
    @lenhudson8194 20 дней назад

They don't make music like they used to. This type of music was on the radio when I was a kid. To see how dumbed down and paint by Numbers music has become, makes me sad. Yes, there are a few bands and writers who are creative, but today, they are sadly few and far between. Music used to be creative and creative music used to be easy to find. Today, it still can be found, but you must wade through so much trite shit that is the audio equivalent of children's literature to find it.
