Get ready new blood, you’re in for the most epic journey, one of grim dark horror and incomprehensible wonder. 40k is unlike any other fictional verse and this man, this Lore Master helped lead me down that path. A path that has lead to days of discussions with my friends, an insane amount of written material, and a new found passion for imagination. For in the grim darkness of saturated content, there is Luetin09 ☕️
And if they started with the Ultramarines, who even with what the word bearers and eaters of worlds did still the mild part 😱 the grim dark is a scary place 😱 but if you like sci-fi horror it’s some of the best
I hate when people ask me what the 40k story is, because it’s hard to explain that it’s so big you need a couple hours and it still will sound like nonsense lol. I have just started telling people pick one part and we will just cover that, and they can learn more later. 2 hours is an amazing rounded down summary.
My go to is, "its almost everything you can think of" because from the smallest stories to the "big story" it includes too much, if you asked whats the story of our universe, it would be impossible to give a specific answer. As wh40k is an universe with stories not just a story just like our universe
Even for being a 23 y long Emperor worshiper, I loved this video through and through. I really admire your storytelling ability : great choice of words, great choice of pictures, great pace and clarity in your voice and pronounciation. I'm not english speaking native but I just fell in love with your work for already more than two years. Keep up the great work brother. May the Emperor eternaly watch you.
Have i watched again and again every lore video for the past 3 years? Yes. Do i need a recap? Nah. Am i excited for another 2h long intro to the universe among the countless hours already put by our blessed host? Holy Emperor, fuck yes !
Luetin is who got me interested in the lore of 40k. i dont play the table top or enjoy the hobby but man listening to luetin talk about 40k just scratches an itch
Thanks for the video Luetin! As someone that got in to Warhammer 40k just now after putting in 120 hours in Space Marine 2 your videos have really helped! I'm also glad to hear that there is no "right way" to start learning and that you should really just go down the path that interest you since that's exactly what I started doing. I started reading the short Chapter descriptions in the game which led me to read up on many of them fully. I thought Calgar was cool so I started to look up other Chapter Master and found Dante for example. I'm on a Primarch streak right now and just finished reading up on Angron. It's the small things that I just assume pass by you veterans since you know so much but for example when they name dropped the "Treaty of Mars" ingame I just had to pause the game to read what it was, and I love it! Anyways, I rambled enough. Thanks again for the videos and if people have some "cool" stuff to recommend I'll gladly take tips! I'm mostly on the Space Marine hype right now so anything regarding them is most interesting! PS: The Daemonculaba is fuuuuuuuuucked
Luetin has a video about the Daemonculaba. It's effed up, too, but still interesting. I think Luetin could make listening to the phonebook interesting...
You can really tell the level of care thats gone into the script, keeping it as detailed as possible, but respecting the limits of the newcomers knowlege. great job.
Thanks for this. I'm near 50 and just started in 40k after watching a ton of painting videos. I found your channel and have watched 30+ of you lore in order play list. This is fantastic and much appreciated!
Part of the appeal of Warhammer 40k lore is the mystery itself, and as a newcomer, I agree. But I’d go further and say that the fact a lot of the lore is tied up in hard-to-find books or codexes adds to that mystery. It feels like a real-world treasure hunt, where piecing together the universe is an adventure in itself.
Luetin i listen to your hallowed preaching's while i toil amidst the manufactorums, building with steel and rivet to shape the flying machines of the United war machine, each long sermon from the Enlightened one makes the day go by that much faster.
This. this is the reason why I tell anyone I meet who seems mildly interested in 40k to come watch and listen to your vids because even not playing the tabletop you bring the lore to life and explain better than anyone. Never change man.
Something for the starter, you can buy most of the tools from hardware stores. The snips are flush cutting pliers. You can buy a tradesman quality set for $15. The GW ones are 30 and are trash. Any rattle can paints are just acrylic paint. $20 for a GW can. Same colour at Michaels is $4. You don't have to break the bank on supplies, there is usually another option.
After a few months of trying to convince myself to start I finally just jumped ina few weeks ago. It's definitely intimidating but I realized there's no perfect place to start so I just found things that seemed cool and went from there. Any path you take will end up leading you down the right path as there is no "right path". Every 10 min video I'd watch turned into 3 more hours of videos/reading from that single original video. "Who's this? What's that? Who's that??" I LOVE IT!
Hello potential newcomers. Welcome to the cult. We really hope you enjoy your stay, and hopefully your time, money, and sanity will be somewhat intact as time goes on.
My envy towards those who just discovered wh40k and luetin's channel can only be compared to the joy I feel when seeing a new two-hour video on this channel.
He did the right thing, even the smallest chaos corruption (either willingly or unknowingly, its doesnt matter) could damn entire systems if left unchecked.
Been getting into 40k since I played through the campaign of Marine 2. I've been watching you're playlist of 40k lore about halfway through and then making my way through the books, currently reading False Gods. Building an army seems like both a lot of fun and very time consuming (economically too). Don't have any questions I think just want to thank you for all the videos, you've been a great help.
Welcome new 40K fans, it's good to have you. Despite what you may have heard, the fandom is very welcoming and helpful to newbies. Please observe the following rules: 1: Yes, you can play Tau. Yes, we will make fun of you for doing so, don't worry, it's all just friendly ribbing. 2. Magnus did nothing wrong. 3. Please don't ask for female Space Marines - they already exist and are called "Sisters of Battle". Yes, they are just as cool as Male Space Marines despite what tourists to the hobby say. 4. Don't let "Dave" put you off - no one likes him anyway. 5. Buy whatever models you think are cool. Paint them however you like, go nuts - they are your models! There are plenty of amazing painters that have free video tutorials on RUclips. Pop into your local Warhammer store for a free tutorial on painting - you may get a free model or two to introduce you. 6. Have fun! 7. For the Emperor!
Honestly for me it took months of reading to get a full grasp of the 40k setting. And to this day I’m still learning new things about the lore. While that’s alright for someone like me. It’s not to everyone’s taste to have to do that much to understand a fictional setting. A video like this I imagine is much better for someone who can’t be bothered to read so much lore.
You're ripe enough now to get into the books. I've been loving the audiobooks on Audible. The whole Horus Heresy series is on there and we'll produced. You may also love the Eisenhorn and Ravenor series which is how I started. I also have to recommend the Gaunt's Ghost series. You'll be very entertained!
I found this channel on reccomendation from MyNameIsByf, and haven't been dissapointed. I've had a sort of vague background knowledge of 40k for a while through games and cultural osmosis, but over the past couple of weeks I've consumed probably an unhealthy amount of new knowledge.
I've been sick for the past 4 days and I've been just listening to your channel for like 10 hours a day. I'm really happy I found your channel. The writing is great, the voice is pleasant to listen to, and this isn't AI generated content, like most other W40K lore content I found on youtube. Good job and thank you!
Hail the Omnissiah! HAIL THE MACHINE GOD!! I'm just here to appease the holy algorithm! For the flesh is WEAK! .... But deeds endure. (Love your stuff Luetin. Keep it up!)
This video had to be made. I see lots of reactors looking into 40K, and I want to point them in your direction, and now I have just the place. Great stuff as always!
Welcome to everyone we've sent here. Luetin, sorry we keep sending all the new people here and made you make a new video. I hope everyone just coming in really enjoys the video, welcome to the greatest Sci-Fi setting!
I like how you left a nice big space in the bottom right of the thumbnail for react streamers to place their face over. I hope this Space Marine 2 Hype is bringing you all the added attention you deserve!
I'm watching this video to help my wife out with this. I played table tops in the 90s. Actually still have a box (outdated) I wish o could attach a picture to the comments. But she has never cared and when i try to talk about it, she gets confused.. we are now watching this video, hoping that you can teach her the right way. I've always looked up to you and your videos because I haven't read all 400+ books and you know way more than I do and I like to think I know a lot. I found you when I had covid for the first time and she didn't so we had to be in separate parts of the house for 14 days. Watched everything and fell in love, you taught me so much I didn't know and reminded me of stuff I forgot 20 years ago. Thank you for your time bro. I'll edit this after the vid and hope she actually finally gets into it. She's only interested now because SM2 so I gotta thank them too. 😂
Great piece of insight in regards to dealing with spoilers. As a “journeyman” lore nerd, I guess it just becomes intuitively assumed that a lot of aspects are kinda spoiled by default. Until you said it though, I realized that I’ve actually never thought about it. Anyways, that was a great bit advice for a newcomer.
If the Emperor didnt protect, how do you explain him sending us Luetin? ... Exactly 😊 Thank you sir for every video you post, ill never get tired listening to you.
i would like to add 2 cents. I was new to the hobby 5ish years ago before the world screeched to a halt lol. And everything Luetin is giving you as tips, advice, & guidance is all 100% dead on and luckily how i went blazing down the rabbit hole lol. Started with the Ynnari and wouldn't want it any other way and then i spider webbed out my knowledge and prob 2k in my army i could easily drop another 2k on more to add and complete my army lol. This mans word is solid gold and always great & as a person and for the community is nice, solid, helpfl, & even bounce ideas off of.
The Duncan Rhodes painting academy channel is probably the best one I have seen for learning to paint on RUclips. He really takes the time to go properly through everything he does, explaining and show how to water out and use the paints.
Welcome to 40k, here's some tidbits. Don't buy directly from Games Workshop or Forgeworld if you want models. Buy secondhand or 3d print models. Warhammer games range mostly from alright to bad. The really good ones to my knowledge are Space Marine 1+2, Dawn of War 1+2 with all of their expansions (except Soulstorm but that one has mods to compensate), Mechanicus, Inquisition, Vermintide 1+2, Darktide, Gothic Armada II, Rogue Trader, and Shootas, Blood & Teef. There are a lot of books set in both Fantasy and 40k, not all of them are good. If you want to read, I suggest starting with Gaunt's Ghosts or Ciaphus Cain. The TTRPGs are great. Warhammer Fantasy 2nd Edition and every book connected to the Rogue Trader line are highly recommended and have a ton of lore attached Female Space Marines are fine to think about or draw or create models of, but they cannot exist officially due to the lore and thus never will be. Do not be a tourist and try to change that. While no faction is good, the Imperium is by far the best choice for the galaxy. Chaos consumes souls and degeneracy. The Dark Eldar perform ever more degenerate acts to stave off the chaos god they birthed that's feeding off their souls. The Craftworld Eldar are too pompous, arrogant, supremacist, and few in numbers to ever fix the galaxy, Orks just want to fight, Tyranids want to eat, Necrons are too divided and might do bit of a culling against the living when they wake up, and the Tau justify their actions with the facade of "The Greater Good" while also being a small empire. And the squats are just a fallen empire of dwarves.
All I ask of people is, don't be a tourist. Enjoy Warhammer 40k for what it is. Don't try to change it. If you don't like it then go away and leave it alone. Don't ruin it for the rest of us.
I’ve watched all of LTs videos, read a bunch of books and played a ton of the games. I’m still going to watch this video because knowing 40k I’ll probably learn something new. Also I could listen to Luetin read the manual to a fax machine, mans great at telling stories.
As someone who’s new to the 40k universe I have been researching books as a jumping off point and find it stupidly hilarious that everyone recommends the Horus heresy, a 54 book series😂😂
I would recommend the Ragnar Blackmane books. It's a good story and you get to discover the universe with him. Granted through the eyes of the space wolves chapter. Any book you choose is going to explain things from that factions view. So keep that in mund. And it's only 4 books lol
While I had the background of playing Dawn of War and Dark Crusade many years ago, my first books were the Eisenhorn trilogy by Dan Abnett and then the first few books in the Gaunts Ghost series. He's great at describing the brutality of 40K war from the more normal human's perspective. There is so much material out there, basically just pick anything and then decide if you want to learn more about the Emperor / Imperial Guard or Space Marines or Titans or Chaos or the Eldar or Orcs or Necrons or... Luetin's videos are good but very in depth. There are other channels with shorter videos, including overviews of the different races or just a quick summary of the entire Horus Heresy. They might help you decide which path you want to read more about.
I agree with @donkeysunited. Start with either Gaunts Ghosts or Eisenhorn. It's good to see the world of 40k through the eyes of a regular human. Either Guardsmen (Gaunt) or Inquisitors (Eisenhorn)
I think you should have mentioned that as the orcs get higher in rank they get bigger and smarter which is what allows them to somewhat organize an assault.
Around a year and a half / two years ago I discovered your channel and started watching out of curiosity of this weird new thing called 40k since I moved down the street from a warhammer store. Fast forward today and I've played hundreds of hours of Tabletop Simulator with World Eaters, Drukhari, Necrons, Dark Angels, Tau and recently Adeptus Mechanicus. I've read 3 hefty books and am considering moving on to The Infinite and the Divine very soon. I've got a half built Necrons force with the Void Dragon sitting on my bookcase. I've gotten better at the craft of hobbying, formed a little group of friends to play games with online and watch tournaments and become enamoured with this universe. Now I find myself back where it all started, on one of your beginner's guides; not to learn this time, but to almost do a victory lap of nostalgia and remember it was your channel that stopped me being intimidated or shy about getting involved with this community and sent me into the best hobby I've ever gotten into. Thanks 40,000 times over Luetin.
genuinely I've been wanting to make 40k content on YT for some time entirely due to Luetin09 inspiring me and getting me into the hobby in the first place i doubt ill ever make anything on par with your content but you make me want to try and contribute to this community thank you man
Space marine 3 game idea!: You start off as a child in a hive city and quickly go through the journey of becoming a space marine. +100 points if the child becomes a salamander. Can have it where he was abused as a child and hates people, but with the salamanders learns to like them.

"Who's this? What's that? Who's that??"
I LOVE IT!
I started watching your 155 video playlist after interest from Space Marine 2. Top notch content and lore. Thank you for what you do.
U have embraced the light of the Emperor, brother
Am I a beginner? Yes.
Am I surprised at the length of the video? Nah.
Am I still gonna watch it? Yes, that's what I'm here for.
Sending to the whole SM2 squad now!!
Hello potential newcomers. Welcome to the cult. We really hope you enjoy your stay, and hopefully your time, money, and sanity will be somewhat intact as time goes on.
Seeing new people getting into this universe after space marine 2 makes me happy for some reason.
40k is like a cult.
Welcome brothers and sisters
Been in the hobby 20 years plus but want to watch this video like I’m brand new, it’s so cosy 🤓🥩🥂
Achievement unlocked. The 13th appear in a Luetin video. Smiley face.
It will be all the better when its a full battle report :D
My envy towards those who just discovered wh40k and luetin's channel can only be compared to the joy I feel when seeing a new two-hour video on this channel.
Space marine 2 is my intro to Warhammer, my ONE big takeaway? Leandros is a narc and I'm convinced he's the corrupt one.
You've got a bright future ahead of you in the grim darkness.
Plot twist: everyone is the corrupt one.
He did the right thing, even the smallest chaos corruption (either willingly or unknowingly, its doesnt matter) could damn entire systems if left unchecked.
It was in the way he did it@@stag2551
@@stag2551no, he only partially did the right thing.
So this was like 20,000 words. Mate works hard to give us so much quality content.
Welcome! Enjoy your stay!
Welcome new 40K fans, it's good to have you. Despite what you may have heard, the fandom is very welcoming and helpful to newbies. Please observe the following rules:
1: Yes, you can play Tau.
And no female custodes, we have sisters of silence
That's a familiar yellow looking Space Marine army 👀1:41:17
A Beginner's Guide being 2 hours long is pretty appropriate for the franchise ngl.
1 year into the hobby because of Boltgun of all things. Now I've started collecting my 3rd army and I have no regrets.
the bigger the betterrrrr .. this video is going to play on repeat till your next video comes out
Started watching your lore vids when the new game came out and I'm addicted to them about 25 of the 155 vids in on the playlist 😂😭😭
@@AshtonCoolman you're my hero 🫡 definitely gonna be checking them out thank you
I found this channel on reccomendation from MyNameIsByf, and haven't been dissapointed. I've had a sort of vague background knowledge of 40k for a while through games and cultural osmosis, but over the past couple of weeks I've consumed probably an unhealthy amount of new knowledge.
Byf is a good one. Eyes up, Guardian!
Luetin is besides Malcador the one only one who is blessed to be in the direct realm of our everruling and omnipotent Godemperor.
40k veterans flooding in to check if everything is in order 🧐. And because we love Luetin!
Luetin asked and answered: WTF is WH 40k. Thanks for carrying the flame.
luetin protects
Been in to 40k for my hole life(going on 40 years) and still love listening to your law video helps me keep up to date on the changes
Best way to approach 40k: in bed dozing off to luetin. Sleep gang 😊
Why am I watching this.. 30’years in 40k.. but it’s luetin lore vid.. so it’s a must listen! :)
Luetin said, "You got a taste. Now you want more. Daddy got wut u need. You're hooked."
Surprised he doesn't carry a pimp cane. 😂
always good to have a quick refresher
Damn I saw the title and had a flashback to the good old Totalbiscuit review videos
Luetin's Lullaby Legion here.
Another banger of a video
If the Emperor didnt protect, how do you explain him sending us Luetin? ... Exactly 😊
Thank you sir for every video you post, ill never get tired listening to you.
Here we go
When the loremaster publishes a 2 hour beginner guide to 40k you know someone produced some good 40k interactive material
22:43 .... Eddy Murphy?
i would like to add 2 cents.
1:27:40 very funny of you to asume any of us have wifes or girlfriends Luetin.
lol most people I know who are serious into 40K do though 😅
The Duncan Rhodes painting academy channel is probably the best one I have seen for learning to paint on RUclips. He really takes the time to go properly through everything he does, explaining and show how to water out and use the paints.
24:29 Ha! You said penal....
In the grim dark future.... There is only penalisation.
@caramia6681 Ha! a man of intellect and wit, I see. Well done, sir.
@@petergodin84 :D
I've watched your content for a little over 4 years now. I must say that out of all 40k content creators, you take the prize. Cheers Luetin!
Warhammer Fantasy 2nd Edition and every book connected to the Rogue Trader line are highly recommended and have a ton of lore attached
Female Space Marines are fine to think about or draw or create models of, but they cannot exist officially due to the lore and thus never will be.
15:10 killbots from Futurama. I didn't realize that the worlds were connected. Great video as always.
A good starting point in books to me is Infinite and divine, its a good and fun read.
Started putting together a small Krieg set today, first time, thanks for the chill vid.
After watching this channel for about 7yrs I will always watch Luetin start from the beginning again, he is the foundation of my 40k knowledge.
The Soul Drinkers Omnibus was my entrypoint...the level of confusion and desire for more engenders nostalgia as I reminisce over my amasec
genuinely I've been wanting to make 40k content on YT for some time entirely due to Luetin09 inspiring me and getting me into the hobby in the first place i doubt ill ever make anything on par with your content but you make me want to try and contribute to this community thank you man
Space marine 3 game idea!:
You start off as a child in a hive city and quickly go through the journey of becoming a space marine. +100 points if the child becomes a salamander. Can have it where he was abused as a child and hates people, but with the salamanders learns to like them.
Old timer here.
I watched it twice, back to back. Awesome stuff OP.
My favorite House rule is
destroyed vehicles & monster become terrain
To the new people that arrive in this blessed verse, this guy right here, "in my opinion obviously" is one of the best loremasters of WH40K, if you want to watch lore regarding Warhammer this is the man, dont be scared of the videos length... its neccesary... and its Luetin.
Good luck on your new found obsession!
You aren't wrong about long time fans enjoying a "refresh". This has been enough to get me excited to try and rope some more mates into this pit of depravity we all love so much. Cheers Luetin!
It was during the pandemic when I first watched Luetin's video... my first foray into the world of WH40k was "IMPERIUM - TYRANIDS FIRST CONTACT & The Battle of Macragge". Still here after 4 years !
Your closing statement about disillusionment in other fictional verses really rings true. Very well said.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video, thanks a lot for your content.
I've been new to 40k since 2016 lol and I'm loving it😂❤
Dammit, i love me an intro video for Warhammer. I've been in this hobby for 22 years and it still holds my attention. Another great video from Luetin!
