Hello everyone! Well, We still have not been able to locate the owner of the Bluetick Coon Hound that showed up on the property. He is a very sweet dog. So far he is getting along with all of our other dogs. He likes to chase the cats around but I know he is not doing it to be vicious. Roxane and I got right back to work on the next part of the front porch build. We are literally about 90% finished now. It looks amazing! Thank you all for being here, we appreciate you!

Soooo happy you decided to keep Bruce. Your decision brought tears to my eyes. He is a sweet dog and in time, he will fit right in. He'll make friends with the cats and will eventually not want to eat them. You should have named him Elvis after his song, "You ain't nothin" but a hound dog". Awe...😍I figured you'd keep Bruce. Front deck looks GREAT! Yes, Ant can call himself a professional builder..he's getting $$ for filming his endeavors so walah! He's paid for his work 🤣🤣 Are you going to screen in the front deck to help deter flies from coming into the house? I've found it really helps to cut down the numbers=you hang the sticky tapes on the front porch and catch them there. I also love the long wide sticky types to hang =they catch a lot of flies as well.

You can teach him to track what you want him to track. For instance he can be taught to track humans. Which means that if any of the kids got lost he could be used to find them. Hound dogs are amazing dogs when you get use to their little oddities. They do need a job and whatever kind of nose work that you can think to teach him will help to keep him as well as you and Rox happy.They make amazing pets. That baying noise is their bark. I knew that you guys would fall for him.

We had a Bluetick They are so full of personality ad goofiness. Very entertaining dogs. One word of caution since he is a tracking dog once they get o a scent they will stay on it and get lost. I'm thinking that is what let him to you guys. He looks like he has been well cared for. But if you can't find his family I'm glad you guys will give him a good home.

I used to breed and train working dogs. Anthony dog treats are your best tool, once they know what you want them to do the treats won't be necessary, it's the quickest and most humane way to train them You guys have the biggest hearts God bless you for taking in yet another lost soul ❤.

Did you get Bruce checked for chip? I had my lab chipped because he was an escape artist.....just wondering if y'all had him checked just in case...any vet or animal shelter has instrument to check...

He was a big dog, too. May I suggest getting him a walking harness. It’s much easier to train a big dog to walk.
Also those neck collars can injure dogs.

A friend of ours had a German Shepherd that had pups, didn't know who the dad was. My mom always wanted a shepherd so we got a little pup. He was as wide as he was tall and the name "Chubs" stuck. My grandparents came to visit and us kids were eager to show her our new shepherd pup. Grandma took one look and said, "That's a Blue Tick hound". We assured her Chubs wasn't...until his markings started to come out and he began to howl. Yup, didn't see any shepherd in him at all. Crazy, fun dog however. We were on a dairy farm and he stayed on the farm, never chased the animals. We had a wood pile alongside the house and he used to climb it and sit there looking in the window as we ate meals, just a foot or two away from him. Good memories. Enjoy Bruce!
My husband watches your show and sometimes I join him. Have subscribed to your channels on the computer so we have you covered...lol. I haven't checked other post but in case no one suggested it or thought of it I will post this about Bruce. Have you had him checked to see if he has a chip? If so sorry to repeat something already said. The fact he didn't have a collar lets me think someone let him out but I know my dog would get away before we built our fence. So just a suggestion.
Two years ago I rescued a female beagle , I had always raised labs, but I found walking my beagle it is best to let her lead me as her sense of smell dictates her desire, .. they have such a strong sense of smells they have to follow it, so you might find that letting Bruce follow his nose, for awhile then you can start “ training” after he has satisfied his need to track the scent..just a suggestion..also you are by far the kindest, most compassionate , caring and Loving RUclipsrs for ALL the lucky animals who live with you ❤️

Carrots are my favorite and I’ve learned to grow more and more and even succession growing carrots and I’ve gotten pretty good last year. I did OK this year it’s a game changer. I got carrots all over already for harvest, and I’ve already planted some Morrisons.🥕🥕🥕

Glad you and Bruce are bonding. I suggest getting him a harness. It will be easier to walk him.
I read a post the other day emploring people to get a proper harness for their dogs because a collar can damage their trachea. I think it was from a person that helped our in a vet clinic or something. Our neighbours got a hound and OMG their bark drives us crazy! They may be good for the country but we’re in the city and on very narrow lots at that!

Roxanne you will never use those stairs without a basket of veggies, or laundry in your arms. I would go for a handrail
back at my home in south carolina those hunting dogs were like children to the hunters and are worth lots of money , they used to track and hunt in the swamps and heavy thick underbrush , most popular in the low country or lower part of SC , l know you have did research but I was raised in the swamp parts and these guys are in big demand . Just thought I throw that out there , if you wanted to find him another home.
They are also very loyal and good watch dogs too .

Bruce is a good name for a dog and I am sure you can train him. He might be useful to flush out some deer come hunting season.
As the front of the house gets the weather, are you going to put a weatherboard on the front door? It will deflect the wind and any rain that gets blown in that direction and stops it coming into the house. BTW, the porch is looking great.
I did the same. I just wished I would of poly form it. It broke down so quick.
Just for your info. Insurance companies require handrails where there are stairs.
