Doctors are educated for medical care.. They also know the law and Texas will penalize them for providing what they (the legislators) consider "abortion care." If you want your medical care to come from legislators I suggest that Texans show up at the Texas legislature next time they are ill since these people seem to think they know how to treat medical problems.

Years ago, I friend was suffering with what was an ectopic pregnancy...taken to the closest hospital which was a Catholic hospital. They sat on their hands (too busy praying?) and then had to be rushed to a REAL hospital which saved her life. This was in New Jersey, where abortion was not an issue! A POX on this crap!
We are pro life Catholics who visited Texas Presbyterian in 2016 for an ectopic. The doctor pushed the methotrexate abortion shot HARD but we refused. Our priest at the time advised that salpingectomy fell under double effect and was therefore permissable. No one is going to prosecute the procedure unless they are pro abort and want to have the law reflect all or nothing. Refusing salpingectomy is a passive aggressive tactic going further than the pro-life movement OR the Catholic Church to twist-arm the public into accepting elective abortion. Either accept dismemberment at 4 months or later or refuse removal of fallopian tube containing baby. Pro aborts on hospital boards are making that ultimatum for political reasons.
Salpingectomy diminishes future fertility at best, as well as possible destroyed future fertility due to complete loss of the tube. Medication procedure potentially preserves the tube (not guaranteed) and therefore may allow for a future viable pregnancy. Why deny people who want kids the best chance to preserve their fertility and try again?
Once you find out you have an ectopic pregnancy, doctors have to move fast to get the cells out of what ever area they are growing in. The only option is to remove the ectopic pregnancy before it bursts and the mother gets sepsis. You can't wait four months or you will die. This is not something doctors can play around with.
