Hilarious that guys on different channels still show the 4 point method that we used 20 years ago by going through the wheel spokes . Definitely scratches the wheels and guys with nice cars are super picky ( and I don’t blame them ) thanks for showing people how to do it properly …..
Great video brother I'm fairly new to the towing industry I still use the strap through the rim method I will show my boss this video so we can upgrade to the 8 points
@@towtrucktech1555hello quick question how would you normally tow one of these new cars where the shifting is electric let’s say it wouldn’t turn on and there no way to put it in neutral is leaving in park and parking brake a good idea when towing a long distance on a flat bed or would it put a lot of tension on the transmission?
@@Dom1n1canGoogle make and model as most have a trick to put the car in neutral . Somewhere around the shifter gate there is a hidden slot . Sometimes covered by a plastic cap
Excellent, watched other vids and some did similar or the same but none explained as good the why and why not to use methods. Feel more confident now and to think what we did in the past, even though only short trips, dumb. Going to buy the correct sling set up that you use as i have to pick up a BMW for my son and do a 1000km (620miles) trip on a trailer, thanks mate, very well presented and extremely clear and understandable.
I sold my auto repair shop 2 years ago, I have been watching many different videos how to tighten down wheels. You are the only one explaining many wrong way of doing it. If it’s a total lost vehicle then we don’t care about it. Thank you and be safe out there! Oh, by the way what kind a rollback is it?
You are not just securing the vehicle to the bed to go down the road, you are securing it for the time that kid runs a stop sign and you swerve to miss and run through a ditch or two. You need that vehicle to stay with you through the whole event.
if you were building a car trailer for moving your own cars/trucks around, maybe wheel finish is of no concern, would you use the same system and would a slot every 12 inches be necessary or overkill? I'm building a trailer to move the same few cars around so I'm also considering the possibility of adding permanent hooks on the car itself in a place that still allows the suspension to move freely.
That’s why I’m my opinion rollbacks are only good if you have a call for more than one vehicles to be towed but mainly they are only good for car accidents. You can tow an electric vehicle with a self loader wrecker tow truck. Just get out of your tow truck and thro the tow dolly’s down. Boom no damage claims. Work smarter not harder and save on the gas as well.
I agree on using a wrecker and dollies more but you Still got to strap the wheels down, at least on the stinger. That’s why you charge by the hour too….why is everyone in such a rush? 🤷♂️ Sure a repo or wreck, get it out of the immediate area then take 10 minutes and do it right in a parking lot
Chris do you recommend putting the vechile in park and parking brake applied on a flat bed and when using a wrecker and picking up on the drive wheels putting it in park?
Considering the bazillion ways Wrecker Operators mishandle cars, I’m not concerned with either of these methods until someone shows up with actual evidence it’s a problem. Strap the car down well with the right gear and it’s going to sit still. That being said, winch it on, strap it down, THEN go to park so you’re not loading the park pawl.

Great down Chris explaining the differences on strapping. Nice Job.
Thank you Sir!

Take a look at our short on the LFA towing strap down

This is very good and correct information, I approve.
Thank you

Excellent video SF
That was a great video, very informative and accurate information.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I would e track the floor under the tire and go over the top of the tire like most long haul transporters are doing now.

Any advice on installing the net on a tire when it's flat? Use the through the wheel method I guess? Thanks

What is the best method to strap down a classic show car, with adjustable suspension, show wheels, on a regular car trailer?
Over the tire straps on E-Track.
Now I'm a little more educated.
Thank you
You only have to tell me once. 😂
Your rear ratchet???
You should never tighten it down that tight. Geez dude give the tire a break
#2and#3 was never an option.
2and 3 used to be the only options, other than tying it down from the axel.
