Constructed (in two sections) by the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company in 1889 and 1891 for their own use on the west side of the Merrimack River, the two brick structures connected by an overhead bridge became the world's largest cotton mill, measuring 900 feet to 103 feet wide containing 4,000 looms alone.
Many fabrics in cotton and wool were produced at Mill No. 11, specialties included gingham, flannel and ticking. More than a century later, the Lofts at Mill West is reborn as a premiere loft community with up-scale apartments and amenities.
