    Good video. To the point. I just did this test prior to ordering the part and it took maybe 5 minutes. Here is a fun fact. Has anyone commented prior that when you perform this test the check engine light goes off on the dash with the valve disconnected and the engine running. Would be fun to punk the Emissions Test . Thanks for the video.

    Great vlog but I have a question, would you smell gas in your cabin if the evap is bad

    • @fixitish
      @fixitish  5 лет назад +1

      Yes on this car the customer did complain about the smell of fumes inside

    • @tonykari5124
      @tonykari5124 4 года назад +1

      What do you mean if the Evap is bad. You mean the purge valve. I replaced it and the gas cap but I'm still getting the check engine light and I smell gas vapors in the rear of the GMC acadia

    Mines not throwing a code its very random mine has a long start then when it fires it runs rough then smooths out. Its happen twice now once after filling up and another in my garage when we were leaving. It probably does it once out of 50 cranks. Talked to my mechanic and this is what he said to replace. So I've got the part ordered and im going to replace mine tomorrow.

    • @fixitish
      @fixitish  3 года назад

      When you take it off, check to see if you can blow through it. That will tell you if it’s bad. When you have the hard start it’s that your getting fumes from the gas tank getting into the intake thru that purge valve

    Thanks for the video, I replaced the part but I’m still getting a check engine light.
    Does it need to be turned off manually?

    • @fixitish
      @fixitish  4 года назад +1

      fgq82 yeah after you replace the part you need to clear the code with an scanner. Or you can try disconnecting the battery for a bit and seeing if that will get rid of the check engine light.

    What does the service tire monitor system mean?

    • @MonteD1
      @MonteD1 Год назад

      It means that you most likely have a tire sensor that has a dead battery.

    Hi I got a P0449 P error code for 2008 GMC acadia slt and you know it says for a evap vent solenoid control...ok.. but why does it die completely I give it a jump and starts up I turn it off and it's dead I can't even take the key out coz there's no juice dead completely .. I need help..

    • @fixitish
      @fixitish  Год назад +1

      That sounds like a complete different problem. If it dies completely with no power after you jump it I’d check the charging system make sure it’s charging properly. Sounds like It could be a bad battery or bad alternator. Atleast that’s where I’d start checking

    Thanks for the video. So I replaced the purge valve and put in a new gas cap but I'm still getting the check engine light and I smell gas vapors in the rear of my GMC Acadia. Anyone know what it is. Please lmk. Thanks

    • @fixitish
      @fixitish  4 года назад +1

      If you still smell it towards the rear you’ll need to check for any leaks at the gas tank or charcoal canister. Also what code are you getting now?

  • @m.douglas5406

    Does it make a ticking noise when it needs to be replaced?

  • @BB-kw8vw
    @BB-kw8vw Год назад

    Any simpleton can do this one. Try the other solenoid on the gas tank.

    Do u have to run car for 50 to 100 miles for the code to reset after being replace

    • @fixitish
      @fixitish  5 лет назад +1

      t money you’ll need to clear the code with a scan tool. You can also try leaving the battery disconnected if you don’t have access to a scanner

  • @robpeters5204
