Seems complicated AF
It’s not as bad as it seems.
Damn this sucks.. never have i wanted to take my vehicle to change the alt.. but this piece of shit is so stupidly designed
Yeah I heard it the valve always a failure
Glad to see another 300zx video, I have a kdb front bumper I’m located in El Paso tx if you want to make the drive
Send me an email. Ish8586@gmail.com
Good video 👍🏻 thanks
Change the battery onaequinax
I just did this for the 2nd time on my Patriot... don't get autozone alternators/Duralast.. they don't last and bust into pieces..The belt on the patriot is a mile long ! haha
@@midnitemonty 😆 the belt is really long
This is my second time too in less than 6 months
Where are you located man? I’m in Arizona and would like pricing on something like this for my 2018 Subaru wrx
I’m in Glendale, send me an email i can give you info on it Ish8586@gmail.com
great video man i thought it could be something with the ignition lol i appreciate the video fellow hvac/r guy myself haha.
Do you know the Part Number for the original alternator ?
so far u ar the best one on youtube to reamove the alternator ,but after all this hard work u should have bought a new one, just in case,
@@olivernortth yeah I would have if it was my car lol customer didn’t want to get a new one
FYI: Usually before I mess with any connectors .I spray them down with electrical cleaner. Then spray it with some BLASTER silicon . Seems to make easier to disconnect. That's just me. Thanks for the directions.
@@raditian2 I never really needed to do that but I’ll probably try it out next time see how it works.
That looks sick 👍
How much were the new parts - condenser and compressor?
The compressor was $100 used and the condenser was $150 but that was with my shop account at Autozone. It will be a bit more regularly
My alternator is over charging at 15 volts and smoked my battery, it got about 150k miles on it.
Any update on the 300zx??? It’s been forever
Next video should be on the Z.
Pinche Ish let me know if you ever need moose parts. I got you!!!
Thank you my brother. You helped me to change it, especially since we do not have a professional mechanic for Honda. Greetings from Marrakech, Morocco.
Your welcome!! I’m happy to hear that it helped you out

Easiest way to place the new compressor in? I’m having a hard time getting the new one to fit
how have these coilovers been in the long term? looking at putting them on a '02 IS with 17s
They were good. Only issue with them is they were noisy when it got cold. If this is what you can afford it’s a good choice until you can get something better. I have a set on a different car and those have had no issues for 2yrs so far
Any instructions on the hoses that wouldn’t come off?
Yours might be different but on mine one hose clamp was just positioned in a way that I couldn’t get to it until I got the other two off. Hoses came off fine
I believe my alternator went out but I’m not 100% sure. Is there any other way to check besides checking voltage?
@@cichfish7525 if you have a voltmeter I usually check the voltage at the battery when the truck is running. Then I check for battery voltage at the positive terminal on the back of the alternator with the truck off. If I have voltage there but it’s not charging it’s usually just a bad alternator. There’s other tests you can do but this has always worked for me. Way back in the day with older cars you were able to remove the negative battery terminal to test an alternator but you don’t wanna do that with this truck. It worked with older cars since they didn’t have much electronics on them
I have a vg30dett come get it out my yard
If it’s not too far I’d go get it
That looks like a big job, nice work! My back hurts just watching this.
Bro you rock. I ran into this same issue exactly. Went into a shop and got an AC service and was told that I had to rip out the dashboard to fix this issue. Thousands were saved because of you're video. Thank you sir!
You welcome. I’m really happy to hear that this is helping out
Unequal length headers literally reduce performance. “BuT tHaT sUbiE rUmBlE” Idgaf, it’s stupid.
😂
Great video bro , do you happen to know if a g37 AC compressor will fit the 08 g35??
Tune it.
Yes it’s gonna get retuned
Brave soul for using Amazon parts
I’ve honestly had better luck with Amazon and eBay than I do with Autozone and O’Reillys. If it last the summer I’ll be ok with it lol
sounds amaaazing, but didn't it need a tune to do that?
I say it does. The owner talked to his tuner and said he didn’t but will be getting it retuned anyways
I dont have to recover the freon what can i do?
You can take it to a shop to have it recovered or you can slowly release it to atmosphere. You aren’t suppose to do it that way but if you can’t get to a shop or don’t have the money to spend at the shop it can be down that way.
@@fixitish ok, do i let out pressure from both valves the H and L valves? Thanks
You can do that. When I’ve had to do it that way i would loosen a bolt for a hose that was gonna need to come off but not fully take it off just a little lose and move the hose a bit. It will start leaking pretty quickly
@@fixitish thanks bro big help, once i have the new one on do i have to get it refilled somewhere or can i just buy the freon at walmart and do it myself? Cuz i know you have to ad oil but dont know if those walmart freon bottles with gauges come withoil
You can refill it yourself if you go rent the tools for it you’ll need to use the ac manifold gauges and vacuum pump. If you don’t wanna go through all that a shop can recharge it for not too much. And you’ll also need to make sure you add oil to the compressor. If you get a new one it will usually say it comes prefilled with some but you’ll need the correct amount for this car
Hey, I have a unique issue. So my compressor wants to turn off 5-15 seconds anytime its on by itself, however I can use the climate control to forcefully turn the compressor on and it stays on and works perfectly. Do you think this could be the AC refrigerant switch on the condenser causing this? For some reason the cabin air temperature sensor does not read accurately after I put a brand new one on from the dealership...
It’s possible it’s that switch. It sounds like a low refrigerant condition with it turning on and off
@@fixitish thanks. One thing I noticed is my cabin air temp sensor reading -22 even tho I just bought a brand new one from the dealership. It’s not always -22 but it’s reading wrong temp. I had one place tell me it’s my ac amplifier unit but not sure.
@@rexxor4219 it’s really easy to damage those sensors. It might just be bad even tho it’s new and oem
Hi man, I have 350Z 2008 which has the same engine Same Compressor. I want to repalce the AC compressor but do you have any idea how much Pag Oil I need to add to it? I'd really appreciate your help. Last year my new Compressor blew up mostly due to wrong amount of Oil that was added to it. If you have any idea or can help I will be grateful.
The new compressor typically comes with a small amount of oil, but you should add the total system oil capacity minus what you drained from the old compressor. For the 2008 Nissan 350Z, the total system capacity is approximately 6.75 to 7 ounces (200 ml) of PAG 46 oil.
@@rexxor4219 Thanks for replaying. I checked some online sources it say Oil type is Pag 100. Are you sure its Pag 46 ?
@@travelheaven6593 Oh my bad, you are correct. Also, I have a method for Infiniti's/Nissans where you can instantly force the compressor on if you need that.
@@rexxor4219 Sorry but Not sure about that. I ordered a brand new compressor and just need to know the correct amount of Oil which it requires adding. Its okay I will try look more and hopefully find it. Thanks for replying
@@travelheaven6593 If the manual specifies a certain amount, follow that. Generally, for a new compressor, add about 2 ounces directly to it.
Did you have to drain the AC compressor
No you leave it alone. Only unbolt the ac compressor but leave all the lines connected
@@fixitish ok cool, every other video said to. Just wanted to make sure It wasn’t necessary. Thanks!
@@mikesempier if you don’t feel comfortable doing it that way you can drain the ac system and remove the compressor completely but it’s not necessary. Just be careful to not move the lines too much and end up damaging them. You’ll feel how much it can move
@@fixitish you the man, thank you!
did you loosen the bolt under the ball joint before using the separator?
Yes 👍🏽
Where did you get all the bushings for the rear subframe in the rear control arms what did you purchase them from if you don't mind me asking

beast is it easier for a NA or about the same process ? Thanks
It’s about the same process with a few more steps. Not harder but definitely more work

Is there a special tool for that 3rd power steering pump bolt at the top
No special tool needed
Currently stuck on that specific bolt, can’t take it off. Where you able to?
Yeah, I couldn’t go through the pulley slots to get access to that bolt-the pulley was covering the bolt, and the slot wasn’t big enough. Tried using a regular wrench, and it started to round off the bolt. Got a crowfoot to hit it from different sides of the bolt-that rounded off, too. Now, I’m completely stuck.
Started today on a driveway wish me luck
Good luck!!!
Thanks, it’s almost out but the egr in the back keeps getting. Stuck on the firewall, any tip? I noticed you already had yours deleted
@@samogunjumo5539you can lower the subframe a bit to get some more space to get the engine out

@@samogunjumo5539hell yeah good job!!

Took me 2 1/2 hours. Didn't drop sway bars. Loosened power steering pump, moved it out of the way , removed alternator through fenderwell. Installed in reverse order. 08 Tundra 4x4 . 5.7 engine.
What was the reason it blew? Just got my first 300zx and trying to learn what i need to watch out for.
I did 3 pulls in a row, my best guess is that the cylinder got too hot at the piston rings butted up again each other and that’s what took out that piston. The fuel pump was bad as well so going lean contributed in the cylinder getting hot. I’ll probably try and make a video on common 300zx problem someday but that might be about the whole car lol 😆
Did you add pag oil to the condensor or only the compressor
Yes I added some pag oil to the condenser. I believe the total capacity for the ac system is 4oz so I only added about 1oz maybe less the the condenser
Just finished mine on an 07, didn't have to remove sway bar and I removed mine through where the wheel would mount. For the alternator, you have 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. As a correction to your video, there are only 2 bolts that connects the powersteering to the mount. Both need to go through the pulley to remove or assemble. Any other do it yourselfers beware, this job is a pain in the ass. Better not plan anything all day.
I looked at it and didn’t think it would come out through there. Good to know that it can be done through there as well.
Took me 2 1/2 hours. It was a pain in the A....
@fixitish invert it and turn and it comes out. Pull the lines out of the way and move the power steering pump up and over to the right and it's a wide open shot.
@@jeffsullivan3573 sure is
I wasted an hour trying to get that “third bolt” out, and found someone else saying 3, just 2 is required for the power steering.
