I do this in about 2 hours in my z32. But I have a hoist in my garage. I like to remove the gearbox first with a gearboxjack then pull the engine out. Surprisingly easy when you've done it a couple of times.
I think it's impressive in 3 hours without a hoist! I think maybe it will be harder to wiggle the engine on to the transmission but the other way around. I did alot of deletes and moved my batteri back to my trunk. It gives alot of room to reach those two painful top bolts on the gearbox. Usually I unbolt the power steering pump and leaves it with the hoses on and just pulls it out of the way when I put the enging back in. I also pull my engine without removing the radiator as I moved to electric fan and it gives alot more clearence. @@fixitish
@@Pervalidus I have all the deletes done as well, I should be relocating the battery to the trunk as well but we’ll see when I actually get to it this winter. I just hope I can drive the car before it gets hot again over here.
Hey I'm wondering how you got that vg30dett past the steering shaft without dropping the sub-assembly? You said you were able to bypass it earlier in the video. If you could explain how you did it, it would be much appreciated.
I had a really crazy angle on the engine and transmission when it was coming out. It just barely missed the steering shaft. It does still get hung up on the oil pan a tiny bit but once you get there you lift up on the transmission and it gets past the rack and pinion. I’ve never had a problem taking them out without dropping the subframe only a few times with steering shaft. Only other thing I can tell you is just pay attention as it’s coming up you can slightly maneuver the engine around to get it out but I do thing the angle as it’s coming out is what really helps
I usually go from the intake if I can or from the exhaust manifold. Haven’t got around to doing the v band exhaust yet still running what was on the car
I found a j30 pretty cheap locally at a salvage yard. I was gonna go that route and ended up finding a z32 vg even cheaper. Just hope I don’t get anymore surprises 😬
@@z32_workshop52 no your right the j30 is cheaper then the z32 vg at any salvage yard. I found this one on Facebook marketplace, running before it was pulled
@@fixitish I’d highly suggest the Eastwood Fast Etch spray. It looks costly, but can we really put a price tag on doing the job once and only once? And Raptor does have a tintable spray kit that you could get some white urethane car paint and mix to spray down your engine bay after you get everything straight and it’s a fine truck bed like spray that’ll protect. But if you go that route, don’t use Hobby Lobby paint. Was a big mistake that I made that cost me one whole bottle of mix.
This is going to be a whole learning process for me. I’ve always steered clear of cars that need bodywork but with this one I really want to try and do it myself. When I get to it I’m going to make sure I try and do everything right the first time
Man you made that look so easy😅 Meanwhile when I relocated my PTU I thought I done something 😂

I had to do this again it was even faster but I left the transmission in the car this time. Eventually I’ll hit that 2hr mark lol

Nice... saved this to my playlist. Will be doing the same soon
I am about to install an na engine this week. it was a pain in the butt to pull it out.

beast is it easier for a NA or about the same process ? Thanks
It’s about the same process with a few more steps. Not harder but definitely more work
are you in North Dakota? Looks like a ND license plate in the background. That would be cool if you were....
Unfortunately no 😂 im in Phoenix Az, probably a lot nicer there right now then it is here. Hot as hell
Which points did you use to pull your engine? And how did your v band exhaust go?
I usually go from the intake if I can or from the exhaust manifold. Haven’t got around to doing the v band exhaust yet still running what was on the car
Did you drop the subframe?
No I didn’t, the oil pan does gets caught up on the steering rack so if you dropped the subframe a little bit im sure it would help clear it better.
What are them wheels called?
Aohdan ds05 black vacuum
J30 will be cheaper from the salvage/junk/scrap yards

@@fixitish Nice, but that's surprising. most salvage yards, charge more for the 300ZX engine than the J30 Engine, even thou they are the same Engine

@@Nojalaese yes, it already had an na vg with the twin turbo set up. It worked great but i blew it up, operator error 😆
5 to 6k tt engine ebay
After feeling the high compression n/a engine with turbos I don’t wanna go back to a stock TT engine.
where are you located at? I'm at phx az I'll pay you if you give me a hand.
Email me ish8586@gmail.com
Maybe I can help you out while I’m in town
Better get on that battery tray rust before it gets past the point of no return
Yeah engine is out once again to rebuild it, I’m going to be painting the engine bay so I’ll be taking care of that rust as well

Thanks, it’s almost out but the egr in the back keeps getting. Stuck on the firewall, any tip? I noticed you already had yours deleted
