I have a 16 foot trailer with pressure treated deck that is 40 plus years. I am only just now seeing enough deterioration to be looking at replacing. I am not sure that I would use oak. Seems like it would make the trailer considerably heavier. I may be wrong. I need to do some research on that.
I luv the teaser for the M video.😎
Well done on the board replacement the timber oil is a good choice.
Nice Vid! My boards need replaced now.
Nice rebuild. That will haul trailers for many years to come.
Most people won’t seal their trailer boards. Great job on the re decking.
My old man when he would change the oil on the truck would brush on the used motor oil on the deck wood .
Old oil mixed with diesel fuel is what I've seen.
This was extremely helpful. I'm doing exactly this right now...!
Nice, great idea using oak
Oak lasts much longer.

Great job. Oak wow.
Did you leave space for expansion and contraction of the lumber?
It’ll create a gap as the green wood dries out. Then there’ll be plenty of space between boards for future swelling and contracting.
Ditto on this. If you use green lumber or ground contact pressure treated pine you want to butt them tight because they will dry and shrink.
How is the Cabot stain holding up? Wondering if you would use it again?
As of Nov 2023 it is holding up well.
What type of screw did you use before tapping screw? Thx…Bill
Drill bit through the wood and maybe a little into the metal then the screws
That trailer with its new oak boards will last a long time with additional application of a good wood oil each year.
How much heavier were the oak boards than the original pine boards?
Probably about 4 times as heavy. But now that they are dry they are much lighter.
Love your vids, your like a mini Andrew camerata

What size boards did you use?
the guy with a lumber mill cut them for me 1 7/8" x 8" x 18'
@@thesmallenginekid we don’t have a lumber mill. They are 1x6 now. I want to go to 2x10
Do you think it will work?
What kind of wood? Where did you get it? Looked rough sawn which is what I want for grip
If you’ll watch the video, all your questions will be answered.

Do you have videos on tiktok that are not here ???
Oak boards?
Yes White Oak. Installed them wet, they did shrink but not too bad.
you should post more on youtube
You're going to regret putting green boards on there. When it dries out you'll have cracks between the boards wide enough a chain will fall though.
The boards did dry out as there are gaps, but not even a 1/4” chain would fall through.
