    Imo New Vegas's Riot/Ranger Gear is one of the best outfits in fiction, it's just got everything. Aesthetics✔️ Practicality✔️ In-Game Viability✔️ In-Universe Reverence✔️ Recognizability✔️
Gotta love how you can start any playthrough by speedrunning to the start of Lonesome Road at Level 1 (Riot Gear can be obtained from the Commissary by selling the overvalued loot in the Missile Silo) or Level 4 (usually the earliest you can get Riot Gear as well Riot Shotgun for free by unlocking the Locker in the Barracks just outside the Missile Silo) then immediately leave to continue the game as normal.

I always saw them as not only the most badass force the wasteland had ever created, but also saw them as awesome due to the comparisons I did with them in terms of what each of them was worth based on the ´´one ranger equals one platoon´´ general comparison line mentioned in the game:
A ´´recruit/ non patrol armor´´ ranger being worth at least half a platoon
One ´´regular´´ ranger with patrol armor an entire plantoon
A veteran ranger being in the one to two entire plantoon worth range (if not more depending on the expertise of the particular ranger)
And a platoon of veteran rangers a tactical nuke as the captain put it xD
And a chief ranger like Hanlon in his prime day can be considered, alongside Lanius, as the most powerful single human west of the Mississipi and a force of nature to be reckoned with.

Continuing my comments relating to the OWB mod for Hearts of Iron, the Desert Rangers were once a independent faction (largely just a Wasteland reference) even though the game start happens past the Unification.
However, with the Nevada rework, there is a schism in the Rangers and a Rogue Ranger carves a little statelet out in central Nevada. Assuming everything goes well within the campaign, this Rogue Ranger will overthrow California and create a new Desert Rangers. However, there is a path where the Rogue Ranger is defeated by a loyalist and the Rangers are reunified once more, albeit with most of Nevada being a NCR territory.
Also within Old World Blues, we are shown whats in Baja. It is two large but fairly irrelevant Raider tribes, who only exist as early game expansionism currently.
