The information on The Vipers comes from The Fallout Bible and The Van Buren Design Documents.
Fun Fact: Asp, anglicized form of aspis, name used in classical antiquity for a venomous snake, probably the Egyptian cobra, Naja haje. It was the symbol of royalty in Egypt, and its bite was used for the execution of favoured criminals in Greco-Roman times. Cleopatra is said to have killed herself with an asp. It would seem Jonathan Faust was quite the fan of snakes and couldn't help but name his son after one!

Dude man, I have listened to the story of the survivalist...I don't know, probably a couple hundred times, usually listening as I go to sleep, as it's a facinating story to begin with. The fact that you turned probably 5 minutes of written journal entries into a great short audio book is something else, nothing short of impressive. I love the DLC for the same reason most others do as well. The change of scenery and the story of the survivalist. So, thank you for writing and producing all of your work. Have you offered your services (as a freelance contract) writer to Bethesda or Obsidian? Also keep up the awesome work and keep on being an awesome human being.

They have The Cult of the Mothman on Fallout 76. They have Outposts, and Settlements all over Appalachia. But they don’t have a lot of story content asides from The Mothman Equinox event, being side enemies in other quest lines, and the decent amount of lore about them. But I think they are pretty cool, and are honestly my favorite Fallout Cult.

Nah not alone, its same for me. Khans to Vipers , Dead Horses and Sorrows. They are the most interesting aspect of the game to me. Post apocalyptic tribals of Fallout, they're unique and primal, there's whole Fallout movies or series you could dedicate to them.
So nothing is known of Asp after the last Brotherhood purge on them. Smart writers could write him back into Fallout 5. Create a story where he comes out of hiding. Revives the Vipers, and their tribal culture. Maybe compromise with a balance of practical firearms, along with the poison spears and arrows next time. So they aren't easy prey for BoS etc.

It'd be nice if we got a Fallout game set in the future where the Vipers have regrown their strength and we could join them like we can with the Great Khans in NV. We could explore their culture, spiritual beliefs(perhaps they introduce some reforms), and see how a more centralized Viper society interacts with others. Also as a bonus, perhaps you could gain a Viper companion by helping them with a unique quest. That companion could give you a perk that boosts your melee weapons, or perhaps more fittingly.. the damage you do with poisoned weapons.

Faust’s story of surviving and returning from his near death reminds me of the myths of the ancient world, Greece, Egypt and the like, tales of heros and creation myths, the apocalypse had brought the time of epics back to earth, it’s a shame the newer games have abandoned the more fantastical elements of the older games

    • @colddaze6680

Absolutely agree. I love and am fascinated by the cultists and tribals of Fallout.
And the mythos, lore around them. Have to give even F4 its due though. There is a secret ancient artifact - sword you can retrieve at the bottom of a deep well in one of the main dig, minesites. The artifact and statue at the bottom of the well are related to an ancient god , "Q'altoth" who is a part of the long running Dunwich horror saga around Fallout. Starting far back as F3 ,far as I know. Then F4 also had the legend of the Cabott family and their relation to the mysterious eternal youth serum, which has a relation to ancient aliens , god like aliens who were inhabitants of an underground city in the desert thousands of years before human civilization.

OK hear me out here. What if the new vegas map was expanded to the point that you can have 4 goodsprings like settlements, at least 3 Legion controlled cities/towns to see life of the average Lucius under the Legion, multiple raider factions in neutral territories all of which would be joinable, 2 mercenary companies that would compete against each other like the Rangers and the Talon Company in Fallout 3 which you could also join as well as 4 different trading companies like the already exisitng Crimson Caravan and Happy Trails which you could also join? I mean can you imagine the replayibility options in that kind of a fallout game? Having the option to still join the NCR, Legion, Mr House, Yes Man as well as be a raider, mercanary, caravan trader or even giving you the option to become an Overboss of those raider gangs like in the Nuka-World DLC but making this role actually impact full.

      @colddaze6680 2 месяца назад

You speak what I was thinking, pretty much on same track.
Definitely a new way to bring back their far more interesting tribal roots and customs .
I was thinking since in the lore video here he says nothing was heard of ever again about Fausts son , Asp. No records of BOS or NCR killing him. So going on that piece of known lore, I would suggest Asp be revived , brought back as the next Vipers " Messiah", shaman, prophet leader. Synonymous says he was even more of a Viper zealot than his dad. So bringing him back some how would be the perfect way to revive the Vipers cult, tribe to something like their former glory. The Viper 'boogey man' shaman. The one both the BOS and NCR failed to hunt down and kill.. I mean thats legendary stuff right there huh?
How to bring him back... Was thinking, he somehow found an abandoned self contained bunker , most likely Enclave that had a science lab with some vats of specilized FEV they were experimenting on, during their project to do with creating genetically, chemically enhanced super soldiers , like they were doing with Horrigan. Except in another secret bunker in the Mojave.
Not only was a secure , secret spot to lay low and hide from BOS and NCR for years, but also allowed him to live longer in a special strain of FEV vat. Aka like chemical liquid stasis pod.
He was smart enough to realise the other specimens were still alive, though in stasis, living in the liquid. The experimental FEV was a specific Enclave concoction , designed to support muscle growth, intelligence, disease and radiation immunity, plus heightened reflex's and situational awareness for combat situations lets say. And basically is a liquid mixture to keep reserve units in stasis and alive for years with minimal automated lab maintenance, if and when any Enclave senior staff would need them.
Say the Enclave command that gave the green light for the classified project got wiped out on the crawler or Raven rock. But the bunker was still fully automated and self contained.
Asp finds it some how, say through a secret , fake wall in a cave. Is smart enough to realise what it is and uses it. And when he finally resurfaces in the Mojave. He's stronger, smarter and more resilient than he's ever been. And sets to work in finding any remnants of the modern Vipers and reclaims their tribal ways etc. Claiming this was all fate, his survival was pre destined fate etc ,given in dreams to him by his father and the mutated snake gods while he was sleeping in the stasis vat etc . I dunno , I think that's at least some kind of legit, lore friendly way to go about reviving Vipers former glory I think? I know there is a great mod called Venomous Vipers around already for N.V. But if any modders see this idea of mine, please feel free to use it, Id be honoured.
