What version were you playing? I've noticed people playing the game, and when they beat Sephiroth, the theme is still playing. In the original, it stops playing, and all you hear is the sound of Sephiroth dissolving.
That's plausible in English but doesn't line up with the katakana. It's likely meant to be Sepher Sephiroth (Sefer Sfirot), or Book of Numerations, a reference to aspects of creation in Jewish mysticism. I was always told it was 'Seraph' because of the six non-arm wings, ha
I'm sorry for replying so late I just saw this comment - thank you so much! I just started the Remake on this RUclips channel this week! Hope to see you around again!

And you're welcome, I put effort into making sure fans would understand the title/thumb without spoiling anything for new players.
@@RexSterlingLive It was a beautiful ride to watch someone experience again. The poignancy of Sephiroth being so strong he's in the soul of the planet like a sickness and the planet itself choosing Cloud to be the one to fight Sephiroth after everything is such an incredible buildup of character growth and high stakes storytelling FF was known for. Glad you enjoyed, be sure to watch Advent Children (Complete) if you haven't already following FF7! I hope you play FFX at some point in the future!
@@lienstone8019 yes!! I watched Advent Children on my Twitch stream with viewers. I’m doing CC, then remake, then rebirth but I’d love to try FFX later this year!
While Cloud and Tifa make the most logical sense, I prefer Cloud and Aerith. I agree with the way Cloud and Tifa's relationship is depicted in Advent Children. While Tifa would be patient with Cloud, I don't think she'd ever truly understand him or know how to handle his trauma and mental issues. Aerith showed throughout the game that she's very intuitive with emotions. I think she'd have a healthier relationship with Cloud than Tifa would.
Congrats on finishing the game! I stayed up all night watching this haha love that you enjoyed it. Even tho it's so old now and parts of it are very dated, its story and heart still holds strong. Looking forward to watching your remake playthrough now!I'm in japan rn and keeping my eyes peeled for any rebirth stuff. Haven't seen anything yet tho haha
Hey man, happy for you that you chose to play OG first. You should check Knights of the Round summon if you haven't already. Crisis Core is a little different, but will help you understand Remake ending. 27 years waiting for an impactful death like that in a videogame. Rebirth scares me. Hype is at maximum. You will love Remake. Have fun!
I would love to go back for that challenge, but I just finished CC today on the stream and I’ll do Remake next. We’ll see if I have extra time between Remake and Rebirth
I always thought Midgar was the Promised Land they were searching for all along and Shinra had unknowingly pumped it dry, nothing would ever have been good enough for them. You could say too its simply a state of being and a corporation could only ever view such an idea as a physical place and therefore were doomed to destroy themselves in search of it. Both interpretations work.
@@RexSterlingLive You mean you're gonna stream and watch the movie? What time? Also totally agree that Advent children needs to be watched. Its pretty confusing though so get ready lol
nah go back and rewatch the original cutscene where they fall on the skyship. there is no way those things are reasonable. tifa is perfect in remake. on an entirely different note, the best part of the way they did aerith's death, that you dont even notice. its not even just that the fight just starts and music keeps going. but when you beat the boss. THERE IS NO VICTORY FANFARE! THERE IS NO WIN. you just kill it. you still lost. and fuck me thats genius.
@@cloudkitt I can't disagree with that assessment. It is vastly inferior to Remake, but 90% of people out there would agree that Crisis Core is a lore essential to be played before Remake
@@cloudkitt well... Zack wasn't fleshed out at all was in ff7. He gets fleshed out more in CC, and the Devs are clearly approaching the game like we should have a deeper knowledge of Zack. Feels like they're going to draw on stuff from CC to me. After all, they're drawing on stuff from advent children as well, which isn't technically supposed to be relevant... But we know it is
Honestly you should go with crisis core reunion first before remake since you finished OG. If you don't have time, watch all the key CC scenes. Cause cc reunion is still a psp game and it really didn't age well in terms of story telling. It's a chore first half of CC
I was intimidated by the size and scope of the game at release. I only rented games back then and I knew I'd never finish it in the 2 days or so that Blockbuster let me keep it. So I would always rent something else. Eventually I just moved further and further away from it. But I'm really glad I got to experience it live on this channel with viewers. Wouldn't change a thing.
I enjoyed watching this playthrough, but as with 99% of modern playthroughs, I cannot STAND how the ported versions have so much jank with the broken music during important cutscenes. From the fades in/out not completing fully, to scenes like Tseng's cutdown inside the Temple of the Ancients being completely fucking silent, so much of the mood is ruined by Square's lazy half-assed efforts.
Not to be disrespectful for those who like it but I’ve always thought of crisis core and the other spin off stuff were non-canon fan fiction. Nice for the people that want it but it’s a lower quality than FF7 and it retroactively spoilt Zack’s story and how I saw Aerith - I always thought of her as Clouds love interest and honestly Zack was better dead. I’m kinda sad they’re bundling this all in with the remake stuff personally, I wanted a straight remake.
I totally understand... I wanted to play Crisis Core to better understand why the community was so split on it. I'm enjoying it for what it is. Remake should start on stream this week and I'm excited to see what they do with the story. I've definitely heard very good and very bad things lol
Crisis Core isn't really that important & it's not even a good game. Just play the remake. You can enjoy remake even without crisis core. Only tie in to CC is the the ending.
I totally understand where you're coming from. I feel like I can breeze through CC without sacrificing my experience with FF7R. I think seeing the strong opinions about CC from the community made me more curious about playing it lol
@@RexSterlingLive people recommend it only because Zack is a very likable character. It's fine if you treat it like an edgy comedy movie of 2000s.😜 I don't think you'll feel your money is wasted if you go in with the right expectations. CC is very different from original FF7..😅 It severely lacks in substance and depth compared to remake. Since you're a newcomer, I didn't want you to think that FF spin-off games are good representation of Final Fantasy as a franchise. They're not equal to the mainline series.
The remake is trash in comparison and i feel betrayed by Square bc they changed so much. The OG is a Masterpiece and they definetly should not have changed the story just to please ppl. Because it is so tragic it is as great as it is. To answer your question about what game is similar in epicness is hard to answer. it was my first JRPG and first game i ever played bc of the story and so far there was nothing that came close. the best games in terms of story and personal investment that were great to me are, FF 10, FF 6, The Last of Us, The Witcher 3 and the Dark Souls trilogy.
I don't think it's "needed" but the community had so many STRONG takes on CC that it made me want to play it to see why it was so divisive. I'm about 37 dad jokes in right now and I'm starting to understand lmao
Technically, you didn't. You did not. You physically can't "beat" FF VII. Let me explain: the whole entirety of VII is one big, long, massive GAME OVER. Humanity lost and went extinct, after Meteor hit, because Aeris/th failed to "link up" with Life Stream and "summon" Gaia's power fast enough, she wasn't successful. Sephiroth (actually brainwashed by Jenova, as well as Shinra, as Jenova is basically Lavos-equivalent, a parasite that twists minds and actions of creatures, into doing what it sees fit) succeeded in eradicating humanity and absolute majority of other living beings on the planet's surface. We don't "win" in FF VII, ever. You don't "beat" Sephiroth or Jenova, because they've already-won by the time Black Materia gets transferred and Meteor gets summoned. You failed. Because you cannot not fail in FF VII. However, VII's very last "ending" frame showing Aeris/th, is actually *NOT* VII, but *already VIIR's beginning* scene. Aeris/th fully pulls the "Raiden at the very end of MK Armageddon~beginning of MK 2011" shtick of "phoning back to herself" via LS, thus doing a "Continue" attempt after the one big massive dozen hours-long "GAME OVER" that is entirety of VII. The very last second of VII, it's very last frame that shows Aeris/th, is when VIIR "starts" after "other" Aeris/th already "got the message" that was sent/left to her by "other self" (Aeris/th of VII's) from inside the Life Stream/Gaia, straight up. The "remake" word in VIIR's title is actually a red herring, a misleading wordplay. It is *NOT* a "remake of the FF VII video game" and NEVER was that any. There is NO "OG" VII, thus, as VII is ONE AND ONLY, with VIIR being it's continuation, not it's "remake". It is a direct sequel, VII-2. The "remake" in VIIR's title is merely there to denote "Aeris'/th's and LS's/Gaia's attempt to give humanity a second chance, attempt to *remake the events that transpired* as to end up with better results", a literal "Continue" screen after the "Game Over" of VII's. HOWEVER, Sephiroth NOW *knows* and *both* the Sephiroth and Aeris/th fully *know* about ALL OF IT in the VII-2, about everything that transpired, hence Sephiroth's "I will never be a memory" quote, as both Aeris/th and Sephiroth were inside Life Stream and Gaia, they fully absorbed all of the Cetra's knowledge on Jenova (hence Sephiroth's disparaging/"rebellious" remarks of his "mother" in VIIR "Disc 2's" trailers). Jenova is a TD.
This is such an interesting interpretation. I'm very glad you shared it. I'm streaming Crisis Core on this channel now, then remake, then rebirth. I'm interested to see if I agree with your take on things when I get there!
@@RexSterlingLive Original vanilla Crisis Core could still be played purely for the flavor purposes, but it was pretty much completely removed from the canon due to the fact that VIIR/VII-2 "rehauls" it's narrative and Crisis Core's remake (the "Reunion", which is, ironically enough, *actually* just a remake of CC, while VIIR is not) adheres to the ongoing newly established timeline instead, being directly tied to VIIR, the "Disc 2" that is Rebirth, and the yet-to-be-released "Disc 3". And, also...it's just not a good game sheer gameplay-wise, really. Very outdated, being the hostage of PSP that it was. Same goes for Before Crisis' "remade" take in VII Ever Crisis, which was "altered" to fit into VIIR's/VII-2's timeline as well (original Before Crisis game from the pre-iPhone era Java-based mobile phones of NTT's DoCoMo's, is VASTLY different and is actually officially the most darkest and "edgiest" of all stories in the entire "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII" catalogue of products). Also, neither Advent Children nor Dirge of Cerberus ever happened or took place, despite the fact their content is present in VIIR and has a role in the overarching plot. Original takes of AC and DoC were basically "cancelled" retroactively by VII-2/VIIR. Since you're going to do VIIR's "Disc 1" soon, you'll see/find out eventually, don't worry. It's actually quite hilarious, how they handled *that* particular aspect/part of it. Basically, there is only one true 100% canon timeline/chart of events now, once entirety of VII-2/VIIR started happening: First Soldier (strongly debatable) -> Ever Crisis' Before Crisis "alteration" -> Crisis Core "Reunion" -> VII -> VII-2: VIIR/"Disc 1" -> VII-2: Rebirth ("Disc 2") -> VII-2 "Disc 3". Java cellphone/NTT DoCoMo's OG Before Crisis, PSP's OG Crisis Core, the "Last Order" (a.k.a. "we don't talk about that one"), the Advent Children movie, and PS 2's "Dirge of Cerberus" game, are all completely uncanon takes now, erased from continuity retroactively by VII-2's freshly established MK'esque sequence "reediting".

The Tweet? That was such a lovely thing. I'm glad you checked out the channel! I'm on day 2 of Crisis Core tomorrow - hope to catch you in a livestream one day!
As much as i love this game, and as much as i enjoy replaying it, i think watching a new player experience it for the 1st time made it even more enjoyable. Glad you liked it as much as i do.
It was unforgetable. I'll knock out Crisis Core and then jump into Remake. I'm so excited to see how they handle these scenes in the new game
Congrats on beating my fav FF ever. Genuine reacts reminded me of how I reacted circa 98
Imagining what this fight will be like in the third remake game. 🤯
“when it comes to rebirth….I’m gonna take my time chat”….LMAO
Me too Rex, me too….see you after!!!
Hell yeah! Dragon's Dogma II and Stellar Blade!
I thought your reaction to finishing the game after so many years was really cool. and I see that you are also a really cool Godzilla fan! Congratulations on the work. Greetings from Brazil!! 🙂
Aye! Cheers! Thank you for the comment and I hope to see you around again!
I intend to continue following your journey in the remake and rebirth!! Sorry about my English, it's not very good.
@@RexSterlingLive
@@davidkolman don’t apologize! I’m glad you enjoyed the content. I’m streaming Crisis Core now - then Remake, then Rebirth!
Ending gives chills everytime! Never gets old. Hope you’re enjoying the remake / rebirth

Aerith is the greatest heroine of all time
Best game ever. Best story ever told
Love seeing you going through everything i did as an 8 year old, this game is amazing lol
How did nobody in the chat ever bother to tell him to SORT HIS ITEMS… Jesus !
What version were you playing? I've noticed people playing the game, and when they beat Sephiroth, the theme is still playing. In the original, it stops playing, and all you hear is the sound of Sephiroth dissolving.
I was playing the PS4 port of the game
“Safer” Sephiroth was probably a mistranslation for “Saviour” Sephiroth.
I’ve loved watching this series man!
And I’m happy for you to have beaten the best game ever (in my eyes):
☄️
FINAL FANTASY VII
I'm sorry for replying so late I just saw this comment - thank you so much! I just started the Remake on this RUclips channel this week! Hope to see you around again!
@@RexSterlingLive ❤️ Lovin it man
Damn. I'd cut my balls off to play this game for the first time again. I'm up to like 25 playthroughs lol.
25!!!! But…. I get it
REMAAAAKEEEEEE YOUR BRAIN IS GONNA EXPLODEEEE!!! YESSSSSS
Having a 1v1 in the core of the planet is peak. Glad you didn't miss the Omnislash. I swear another millisecond and Sephiroth would've hit you for 5K.
Fuck that "it's an old game so it's fine for me to spoil it for you" mentality. I can't stand that ignorant pov. I had some of that attitude in my chat when I first started streaming FF7 but I put an end to that quick.
Congrats on beating FF7! I recommend playing Final Fantasy X sometime. I think you will love it just as much. Cheers!
Thank you so much - I’ve heard multiple recommendations for Final Fantasy IX and X and I hope to beat them both on stream
Now that you're done, you're without the influenced ofthe internet and with your own opinion. who do you prefer? cloud and aerith or cloud and tifa?
I appreciate your comment so much. Thank you for the kindness and I hope to continue making content that you enjoy.
Have fun!
Hey thank you so much! And at the end of this stream, chat showed me the Knights summon. INSANE.
Very nice to see you enjoyed the game, wonder if yyou was able to beat Saphire weapon and Ruby. If not you should do it to say you beat FFVII!
I would love to go back for that challenge, but I just finished CC today on the stream and I’ll do Remake next. We’ll see if I have extra time between Remake and Rebirth
That lore video you watched at the end, no disrespect to the guy that made it, but it was very, half baked shall we say
yeah that's one thing that sucked - I couldn't evaluate it that well
I always thought Midgar was the Promised Land they were searching for all along and Shinra had unknowingly pumped it dry, nothing would ever have been good enough for them. You could say too its simply a state of being and a corporation could only ever view such an idea as a physical place and therefore were doomed to destroy themselves in search of it. Both interpretations work.
Oh btw. I dont know if you said something about it but you might watch Advent Children too.
Going to try and do that tonight on Twitch
@@RexSterlingLive You mean you're gonna stream and watch the movie? What time?
Also totally agree that Advent children needs to be watched. Its pretty confusing though so get ready lol
I guess I gotta do the same...with alot of game actually lmao
Bro my backlog is ridiculous 😭
nah go back and rewatch the original cutscene where they fall on the skyship. there is no way those things are reasonable. tifa is perfect in remake.
on an entirely different note, the best part of the way they did aerith's death, that you dont even notice. its not even just that the fight just starts and music keeps going. but when you beat the boss. THERE IS NO VICTORY FANFARE! THERE IS NO WIN. you just kill it. you still lost. and fuck me thats genius.
DAMN you're right... holy shit
I honestly believe the best way to introduce Aerith death is to let you be Sephiroth when it happens
I love FF7 bro, best game ever!
YOU MUST PLAY CRISIS CORE BEFORE REMAKE... Yes I'm shouting! The end of Remake will mean literally nothing to you without Crisis Core.
Done. I started Crisis Core today and the VOD is posted already!
The problem is crisis core's writing is shit next to the OG and Remake
@@cloudkitt I can't disagree with that assessment. It is vastly inferior to Remake, but 90% of people out there would agree that Crisis Core is a lore essential to be played before Remake
@@happyd9733 I'm not sure why, the OG already showed what happened to Zack
You’re finally now playing this Game? What took so damn long
I was intimidated by the size and scope of the game at release. I only rented games back then and I knew I'd never finish it in the 2 days or so that Blockbuster let me keep it. So I would always rent something else. Eventually I just moved further and further away from it. But I'm really glad I got to experience it live on this channel with viewers. Wouldn't change a thing.
Crisis Core should happen before Remake. Remake will have far less impact without knowing Crisis Core events.
But to elaborate, just knowing the CC story is good enough. Don't need the play through
Doing it now bro!
OG and Remake are the only games you need to play. All the other spinoffs only lessen the story.
no crisis core?
Already did Crisis Core - it’s on the channel on a playlist. And I’m streaming Remake right now as I type this
OMG. I was going to subscribe and follow,,, But I love Cait Sith.
(No, not really. First time watching, hope this goes well lol)
haha thnak you!!
❤
I enjoyed watching this playthrough, but as with 99% of modern playthroughs, I cannot STAND how the ported versions have so much jank with the broken music during important cutscenes. From the fades in/out not completing fully, to scenes like Tseng's cutdown inside the Temple of the Ancients being completely fucking silent, so much of the mood is ruined by Square's lazy half-assed efforts.
yeah the music glitches were ridiculous
Only tie in to CC is the the ending.
i dont get these people recommending cc first
I agree. Remake should absolutely be the priority. CC isn't that good, lol
CC is very different from original FF7..😅
It severely lacks in substance and depth compared to remake. Since you're a newcomer, I didn't want you to think that FF spin-off games are good representation of Final Fantasy as a franchise. They're not equal to the mainline series.
@@Koustav_04 agree with you, though I think ffx-2 is important for ffx clousure
KTOR is Knights of the Round.. likely the summon you didnt get your hands on in this playthrough! KTOR is not a game lol
What do you mean 27 years? You never finished? What did you do, let your little sister bite disc 3?
I intended to play it at release but put it off for 27 years. Finally decided to start the journey.
Thank you for sharing! I loved 10 when I played it (it’s in a playlist on this channel too). Heard MANY good things about Final Fantasy 6
Now go watch advent children
Watch advent children before playing remake.
Without saying too much, it’s important.
I did! Playing remake today in an hour on this channel!
Play remake. Crisis Core is not needed.
I don't think it's "needed" but the community had so many STRONG takes on CC that it made me want to play it to see why it was so divisive. I'm about 37 dad jokes in right now and I'm starting to understand lmao
It's very much needed if you want to get the full context of Remakes ending. Without it, it would just go over his head.
Can tell he newbie playing this game
100%
@@RexSterlingLive
Original vanilla Crisis Core could still be played purely for the flavor purposes, but it was pretty much completely removed from the canon due to the fact that VIIR/VII-2 "rehauls" it's narrative and Crisis Core's remake (the "Reunion", which is, ironically enough, *actually* just a remake of CC, while VIIR is not) adheres to the ongoing newly established timeline instead, being directly tied to VIIR, the "Disc 2" that is Rebirth, and the yet-to-be-released "Disc 3".
