Nice video. No undeserved hype and your honest experience. You should definitely try putting a patch on the top right port specifically. It's the only TX antenna on the Goggles and it matters a lot for best RF performance. See @Mad's Tech video on the subject for more.
Hi Drew I don't know if I can say it's as good as DJI, it definitely is a improvement over analog especially going behind the building. But when you as flying over the grass it blended together. Not there yet to pay as much as they want me to pay. Keep trying Fatshark
Did you fail safe and lose video at the same spot? Is so then I don't think there is an issue with the Fat Shark. Another question, is there currently another set of goggles for analog that performs the equivalent to 700mw/25mbps for cheaper? Then if so is the price for the Dominator HD currently justified?
Its just dirty or RUclips compression it looks just as crisp if not better i have this and dji and i dont know if its oleds or just better but its crispy
Over time I've seen most every channel I watch alot do shadow legends... and sir Drew of camdenshire, you do it very good. Also amazing flying, that kinda just goes with out saying. It is a great time for fpv right now. It's never been better actually.
The fact that it's not from DJI and the smaller form factor are definetely advantages. Does the Fat Shark system also make you jump through hoops to "activate" it?
I watch that and think that is doesn't seem as big of a jump up over nice analog. Are the dvr files looking like you remember in the goggles? I'm guessing the goggles look better?
Beta testing and many firmware updates to be on par with Dji. Funny how this channel is all about one product then shifts to another almost slamming the product they pushed for years.
Shen you switched to 1000mw/50mbps, the image look's much less hazy. Was that because of lighting conditions slightly changed, you wiped lens or just the change of bitrate made this difference? Anyway, awesome video, thanks Drew!
These are getting good! Like it!! The shadow raids threw me off lol. I see it in my urbex exploring videos but seeing you do one was cool!! Tv commercials soon drew!😁😎💯

Completely unrelated but do you guys still fly 4s batteries? I noticed on the rotor riot site that yours and bubbys pro built quads are only available in a 4s option
@@LeDribFPV thanks for the reply dude. I actually just got my moxy like 3 days ago and I freaking love it. Was just wondering why you guys prefer to fly 4s when 6s gets you a little more flight time. I do love the way the quad flies tho

I’m hoping the firmware will mature to get this system on par or better than DJI. 50mbps DJI seems to beat this, even in your 50mbps mode. Nice review Drew, so much fun seeing the technology develop & advance in FPV. I'm sure there are going to be some very happy folks out there who will be able to trade in the big DJI goggles and transition over to these. DJI works well for me so for now, I'm good but I do like the goggles compared to the Shark Byte system I have hanging off of my HD02's and I like the antenna's you have chosen for these new goggles. Your so right, you can still freestyle and that's the most important fact here, nothing like getting "back to fpv." ;)
It is indeed a great time to get (back) into the hobby! I’ve been flying FPV for 20+ years and quads since Wii nunchucks and an Arduino. So these compare pretty well with DJI to me. That being said, I opt to stick with my DJI system for the foreseeable future. It totally changed the way I fly, straight up. Even small improvements with the Avatar system probably wouldn't be enough to get me to go all in. Great video, Drew. 👍🏼 You didn't sound completely like a commercial, so that's good. Lol
If we're talking bias, the only HD system you don't get funding/stuff from is HDZero... And it's almost never used on your/RotorRiot's channel, so... 🤷♀ That said, I don't consider this review of the Avatar system to be very biased. It's pretty good. No mention of the latency though, which is a problem for both Avatar and DJI. That drop-out with zero warning is a major issue though (and one I've seen from another RUclipsr too) - DJI at least gives a bit more warning - getting blocky and/or going high latency.
I like the DJI, but I've held off buying it because of the alien predator goggles. I also feel a little burned that my original DJI googles won't work with it. It's good to hear people like the new Fatshark. It looks good and I've heard it integrates nicely with betaflight.

Reading this comment I’m wondering if some of the smearing is the RUclips compression. It’s happened to me before. Picture looks great on my computer but sometimes after RUclips processing it gets smeared/blocky in spots where fine detail is. It’s hard to retain the detail when you compress the file to a fraction of the original size. I saw a video once where a guy uploaded a video then kept downloading the processed file and reuploading it 100 times until it wasn’t recognizable.
