I used Shazam to identify "Shine on me" by Pete Stewart, then added it to my MUSIC Playlist. I find the best unknown to me music on your channel. Your videos have a reach beyond the bast cycling in the world. Thank you Sir.
Thanks, I thought it was Simon and Garfunkel at first. I will check them out as I find the music relaxing and it goes well with the scenery and commentary. Thanks again and keep the videos coming 😊
Great video.. if ever I see a sign for Ramsbottom or the Rake whilst out cycling I will know to do a quick U turn 😂😂😂 Well done, looked tough, keep them coming.
Chapeau to you for making that climb, it looked brutal! It's videos like your's that broadens my knowledge of the UK. I didn't know of Peel Tower so Wiki put me right. Every day is a school day. The view from the top looked great, I'm sure even better when you're there. Great thought, recording your rides for when you get old. I wish it had been possible in my younger days. Thanks for the video of your very hard climb.
Thanks, Colin. Took it really easy so quite enjoyed the climb. I have a couple of old grainy pics someone else took, from travelling through Tibet and trekking to the north side Everest base camp in my younger days - a once in a lifetime trip with no camera (big regret as the memories do fade). I suppose I'm making up for that now with the cycling stuff! 🙂
@@onemorecyclist I've done that before not one of my my greatest moments having my legs lock up from lactic acid repeatedly on an audax while a bunch of 70 year old riders ask if I'm alright while breezing past lol
Great video and climb. Vista's look great. I removed clipless pedals off my triban rc520 and replaced them with dmr V8 MTB pedals (alloy £30pr). - feel much safer with them. No noticeable difference in performance for me.( I'm 66 and average about 20km hour on undulating routes) Do you find your Boardman significantly quicker on climbs?
Cheers, Andy. Yes, I quite often have flats on the Triban too. Clipless on quite lumpy off road is rather an unnerving feeling when you're not used to it. The way I've got the Triban set up at the moment I do find the Boardman quite a bit quicker/responsive (and it seems to accelerate on descents much quicker). It's all relative though ... I'm pretty slow on both bikes these days. 🙂
You went up and down Holcombe Hill on the hardest path. If you had gone right immediately opposite the Shoulder of Mutton pub, there is Moor Road, which runs to the right, almost parallel to the main road, before doubling back and arriving at the tower from the right. It is a longer route, but it is less stoney and gentler gradient.
That's really good to know, thanks! My Wahoo was suggesting that I think but I wasn't sure and ended up going the way I knew. I was pushing further up and it wasn't great going down (especially as quite busy with walkers etc.). Will try that other way up next time! 🙂
Eh what’s wrong with power data 🤣 great effort mate. It’s a tough old slog that hill. I need to go revisit that hill with the camera and my power data on the screen 🙄
@@onemorecyclistdon’t matter how fast or slow you go mate. Getting up it is an achievement. I’ve only done the rake once. You’ve give me a idea though for a video series 😎
Great video again. And what a great route. We must have just missed each other as I took my lad out on his first gravel ride yesterday and we headed up to Ashworth reservoir in the reverse to you and back down through deeply vale to Rammy. Well done on the rake though, it’s a killer to drive let alone cycle.
Thanks, John. You've got me thinking now. I was standing just off the road chatting with another local cyclist that caught up with me and saw a young lad and what looked like his dad go past. Think we even gave them a wave ... might have been your good self?! It was a cracking day to be out yesterday. 🙂
Thanks! I get the music from Soundstripe and for this track the artist was Amherst (if I remember right). There's a few tolerable tunes on that platform that I like to use, in between all the AI generated techno horrors! 🙂

Great video and superb scenery. I think the tips were great and will certainly take them on board. Stay safe.
Thanks for watching, Stewart. Happy cycling!

Looked an absolute slog nice view worth the effort.
I took it megga easy ... could really have blown up on that climb and had a long limp back home! Definitely worth the effort for those views! 🙂

@@onemorecyclist Strange that, I feel safer clipped in, on and off road. Though I have been riding clipped in for years.

Definitely worthy of a top 100 spot that climb, slow poke style like me or full gas with the stats ... all good fun! 🙂
