My neice's birthday is coming up but with the pandemic we are on a budget so i'm glad I found this detailed video! Much love from a teen baker in Jamaica!!! ♡♡♡
Ohh thank you so much for the comment Shanice! Wow Jamaica! I would love to visit there someday, I love to travel. Good luck on your cake for your niece! I'm sure it will turn out more amazing than buying one from a bakery! I'd love to see pictures of it if you want to send them to me on instagram. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@BrittneeKay I can't wait till i'm older to travel because i really want to visit other caribbean countries. Her birthday is on the 12th of Nov so if all things go well i can get some photos to post (as i am now transition into cake making) and ill definitely send you them as well!
this is so helpful! I'm making a 25th birthday cake for my friend in May and she can't eat chocolate as it causes her to have severe migraines but I desperately wanted to do a drip cake for her and now I can!!! Thankyou!!!
The silver looks so nice! But I really like the way the marbled settled on the base of the cake. Also what a clever way to get the marbled look! That’s not what I was expecting.
Groovy 😎👌 Love how fun it looks to eat, it actually looks like a conversational piece of cake. I'ma total sucker for bragging rights 😂💯 thanks for sharing ♥️
Royal icing can definitely be used on a buttercream cake! The only thing is that it will dry hard, but it can just be broken off before slicing and eating. I prefer the look of royal icing over chocolate, but ganache tastes better! 😋
Mmm, depends on if your whipped cream frosting is stabilized with gelatin. If it is, the royal icing still might be too heavy for the cream and cause it to collapse. I would recommend using buttercream rather than whipped cream frosting and chilling it before creating the drip!
Nope! Once royal icing dries it basically just stays hard as a rock! It shouldn't melt in the fridge, but i also can't say I've put it in the fridge once it's all dry. But I think you should be good!
I wouldn't recommend using a drip on a whipped icing because it would be too heavy, if that is what you're asking. If you are asking if you can add cream to frosting to make it thinner to drip...in theory you could, but because it is runny without an element that helps it dry I don't think it would work very well because there is nothing to stop it from dripping :) I think the best things to use for dripping are royal icing, ganache, or chocolate!
I know this video was made awhile ago, but I was wanting to know if the particular silver highlighter dust you used to paint on the white drip is edible? I am wanting to use a shiny metallic silver on my cakes, but I’m worried about it being inedible and causing stomach upset. I appreciate any feedback!
I would like to ask if I can use a chocolate drip on my royal icing cake? Planning to make a chocolate cake and the frosting is royal icing and some chocolate drip. Is it okay??
I would not use royal icing to frost a full cake. Royal icing dries very hard and crunchy and is more for small decorations. You could use buttercream to frost the cake and then yes, you could use chocolate for the drip!
I'm not sure you'll be able to get a nice full coverage over a cake with a sugar glaze. I would definitely recommend buttercream! You can get it quite smooth with practice!
It will just dry on it's own, you don't have to do anything except let it sit for a while. I'd say give it a few hours to become hard before painting or anything.
Hmmm good question. Honestly, I wouldn't. Unless it is stabilized whipped cream, but even then I think royal icing seems a bit heavy to put on top of whipped cream icing. The textures just don't go well together. In fact, I think drip on a whipped cream cake would be hard. Possibly a thin white chocolate ganache could work though.
You can use royal icing on a chilled buttercream cake if you'd like, it'll just have a crunchy texture when you cut into it. I would prefer to use a ganache drip on a buttercream cake or you can even just use melted chocolate!
Which of the 3 styles of drip is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
I like the solid color! But all are interesting.

I love the three, but can royal icing drip be done on butter cream cake?

Im looking for your ganache technique for a buttercream cake which id like to be able to paint. Please could you reply with a link
Sorry I do not have a video about the ganache yet. But if you search youtube you will find a lot of great options!! :)
@@BrittneeKay i sent you a message through your website on some advice if possible x
Can we substitute water for lemon juice? (for both thinning it down, as well as when making the royal icing itself?) Thank you!
Usually lemon juice is used to stabilize egg whites but if you’re looking to thin it down for a drip cake I am sure you could leave out the lemon 😀
very helpful, thank you 🌸

Can you use royal icing to cover a cake I’m in a very humid country and I’m looking for an icing that I can use in decorating cakes.
No I would not do that. Royal icing dries hard and really is meant just for decoration! :) I would still use buttercream
The silver one
Thanks!
Silver
For how long its dry the royal icing in fondant cake?.
It should be pretty dry within 1 hour, but be carefully because depending on how this the layer is it can be soft inside!
Painted
What if you accidentally paint on the cake? Can it be remedied?
NO! be careful! 🤪
Can't you mix gold or silver Directly into the royal icing instead of painting
Yes but it will take a lot more to get the color to show!
