- A review will happen after a few months, the camera got soaked. That did alter the sound & recording a bit. Will tend to record a more narrow set of frequencies....so it sounds like there is MORE piston slap on the "wet" camera than there is in reality, to those who go there.
My favorite large saw I've ever owned 395xp. Stock amazing.
First saw Husqvarna was 44 then on to a L77 then got confused and bought 444 and 466 then the G660 and 070 .But got a 288 and then I need another 288 awesome saw. Now I ordered a G395..anyway my finding before tunning put new Bosch plug in they ran way better.. that was my findings with other blue saws also. New bosch plug .. and 40:1 in everything orange stihl mix oil and Husqvarna oil in orange saws..lol last point the Husqvarna 353G oem I put 3/8 chain on pretty much best no vibration saw for 300 series. Great video real world..
I believe you are going to really like the 395. That clone seems to be running nicely. I can't remember the last time I ran a 288, forgot all about it once I bought my first 395xp. The 395xp balances perfectly with a 32" Tsumura light bar and I find the weight very manageable with this combination. It is a great saw for felling and bucking big timber. They oil very well and the air filter and filtration is one of the best on any saw made. I hope Husky keeps making the 395xp. Enjoy!
@Schwalbe_262 The 395xp is approx. .65 of a pound heavier than the 288xp. The 385 replaced the 288 then came the 390xp @ 88cc and .60 pounds lighter than the 288. With an inboard clutch, better anti-vibe, and filtration the 390xp has been a very popular saw for logging. The 288xp, 390xp, and 395xp are all great saws and definitely worth the price for an OEM saw.
Excited to see it after a break in. I have G111,G888,and 2 of the G660. All have been good saws so far.
Thanks for showing us the new saw walt your the man peace
I just got me the blue one also thanks to your videos thank you so much I hope I have as much luck as you do
Very nice Walter! Sounds like it's gonna be another nice saw!
I think so too!
I got a G288 after watching you run yours. I love it. It does vibrate but damn after five tanks of fuel it has more than enough power for 4 foot oak trees. Lotta bang for the buck. It appears that 395 is gonna be the same way.
Yes it is, not sure yet if I would put the 2888 down if I have the 395. I think what's going to happen is the OTHER saws on the truck will be retired for a while, except when Bob is up.
I have a Holzfforma G372 and it’s my go-to saw at the moment. It’s a very good saw. I really need a smaller knock-around saw for brush cutting and the like. Great video. 👍
Can't go wrong with a husky 350. I ported mine and put a pop up piston in it. Runs good for a 50cc. Needs a 2nd 1/2" pipe in the muffler tho after I ported it it seems like it needs more flow
Hello from Piqua Ohio. Keep up the great videos.
Awesome!! I can't wait to get one those baby's and hopefully they come out with a 395 kit 😊
I think the "builders" are going to have fun with this one :)
All early FT 288s had the same oiling problem, wasn’t just you. But they since corrected the issue with a new oil pump.
Mine has that issue.
A very nice saw! good review!
preview :)
Just put the first heat cycle into my holzforma g372xp after putting a wolf creek big bore kit on it. I cleaned up the little bit of flashing in the hyway cylinder, polished the exhaust and put a uniform texture on the intake. No base gasket and it has A LOT of compression. Almost wondering if I can get the JB Weld out of the decomp now lol. I want to see how it matches up to my 390xp, JRed 820 and husky 61/66 pulling the 32" skip. Love your videos, keep it up.
My brother bought one of those holzforma 288s a few weeks ago and I had to put a oil pump on it, just didn't seem to oil like it should. So I done that, a dual port muffler, base gasket delete, 8 pin sprocket, skip tooth chain, and a pop up piston and after it broke in it is a monster
But as you mentioned that 288 will vibrate your arms off
@Schwalbe_262 let em run this one for 30 minutes your whole body is vibrating. Wasn't near as bad before the mods tho
Touching on your G288 oiling problems mine came with oiling problems to but after about a month of waiting they sent me a new one and it fix the problem
I didn't wait, down time was important to me so I just bought one online, they are cheap. Also as I have said for years now the expectation has to be some tweak and debug on these saw vs. buying them because the price.
Thinking about getting one 🤔
Can't say that's a bad idea! I would get OEM muffler bolts maybe to replace the stock "soft" ones. Other than that run them! I did put a better piston , but the current ones prolly don't need that.
It will be interesting to see how it does against the 660 clone once it breaks in.
I also wish Huztl would offer the mufflers with the spark arrestor screens, if only as an option on all of their saws, I know I got one for my 372xp build but the screen doesn't pass USFS requirements so I had to order the OEM screen. A lot of people have to use public land for fire wood and the use of open mufflers can get you into trouble. I had to buy a used 288EPA muffler for my kit saw that was missing the diverter and screen. Holy cow Husky is proud of that diverter, cheapest price I have been able to find it is about $25 U.S.
The hiway mufflers have spark arrestors , I use them on the 660's that really are in the field for work. The 660 is a little lighter and has some features like the external sprockets that make them easier to deal with day in day ot than any of those Husqvarna designs from that era. Power? It's a toss up, the 395 has more potential but its also a heavier saw. Also the blue husky close seem to have a little better material selection. They are solid. They are a little better out of the box that way. But obviously I was able to work the 660 kits saws into work saws, some I build as far back as 2015--16 are still out there working. So it boils down to what a person like vs. some spec sheet analysis.
Very nice. I just started my 288xp kit build. while the 395xp has the CC and I'm sure is a very nice saw I honestly would have liked to have seen the 390xp done even over the 288xp. Same size as the 288 only with the inboard clutch, I believe a side chain tensioner and two point pivot of the brake flag and I have heard a better design on the anti vibe over the 288 plus higher rpm on the top end. I did order in the six spring isolators for 288 (part # 503 51 48-01), tbh I don't know if they are better than the rubber isolators that came with the kit but I just don't like the fact the rubber ones can age and deteriorate which is something I wonder about on my Stihl 036.
Nice video of the new p395xp. It looks like the first real video of this saw cutting some wood. I saw the other day FT website was sold out of these. They are probably going to sell well. Which saws from FT are the best quality based on your experience, the kit saw you assemble, the blue assembled saw or the Orange assembled saw.
Right now the ones I have had the best results with are the g888, g288, kits saw ms660's and joncutter 5800's. The sense I get is this 395 will eclipse all of them. BUT I don't have enough time on it to verify so that is PURE SPECULATION. Time will tell.
Thanks. Keep up the good work. I wish I had the property you have. I also have horses like you.
I've always felt the nav lights have the colors on the wrong side .
Local buddy Kevin Smith just got one too. Might have to check it out. I prefer the 372 clones myself
I'd set high jet at 12900 on the tach
Yup, want to let things wear in a bit first. NEXT video it will be twisting a bit more. That was "raw" seeing what we have. Prolly 12500 will be next
I see where Holzfforma came out with the G288 in orange. With the introduction of this 395 - I am now debating which one I want to get? Thanks for the video.
Kind of a toss up for me, I have enough time on the 288 to have a sense its a solid saw, I don't yet know that for the 395 as I only have a couple of tanks thru it. As I go thru another lot of tree's I will run both and then have side by side experience. But right now if a person was to pin me down, I could only honestly say the 288 is solid and would not let you down as a work saw, but the 395 is way smoother. I Just don't have the time on it yet to say anymore than that.
Mate!!!!🌲🪵👌🤙🤩nice 😊
Do they have T27 fasteners or hex heads?
It may just be the way the camera is picking up the sound but the bar and chain sound terrible. I can hear it over the saw in the cut or out . Nice video !
Yup,, when the rain soaked the camera it got into the little slot where the mic is. Cut out low frequency like a camera under water would have so all you hear is the mid range "hash". I debated re doing the video w/o rain. BUT the first impression would then be staged, not real. I'll work that saw today and post another one...a dry mic will pick up the true sound
@@afleetcommand ok , good , I thought it sure sounded weird.
So what’s that you are cutting up, is it ash that wouldn’t make good saw logs ?
Just read your camera sound woes, thought it sounded a bit agricultural to most 395's I've heard. I just got my first real boat with a 25hp 1976 Evinrude. Any tips on your other channel I've missed about these motors? Thanks Walt.
Yeah, a wet mic really only lets mid range sound thru. Kind of messed everything up but while I thought about re--doing the video, that would have been staged vs. the real documented reaction. SO warts and all I let it fly
Those Evinrude's are wonderful motors, about as reliable as any motor even made and make solid power. I have an e--start version. Be certain the fuel pump and water pump are fresh as with any outboard. And pick up a spare ignition coil or two as that's about the only parts you will ever need....for decades.
@@afleetcommand thank you sir.
I have an old Husky 394xp that I use with a 48" bar and Alaskan mill. Do you think this one could be a direct replacement? Thanks for showing it, I didn't know they had a 395.
Expensive hobbies are hard to break.
Why would you want to replace a 394 with a 395 knockoff?
The p395 is brand new. Like Walt must have gotten one of the first ones.
@@phogelbice the 394 is getting some age on it. Would like to have a cheap spare in case it goes down in the middle of a project.
Can you tell me if a Husqvarna 385xp has bearing problems? I got one last week and a friend told me that model had problems with bearings. I'm not sure if it was the pto side or what it was.
They did, the new 390 bearings even though they look the same seem to have done better. Always wonder if it was a bad batch from the supplier vs. a design issue on 385's. NONE of the 385's I built ever had an issue. AND the new 390 cranks are better yet and will handle both RPM's and abuse better.
What are the opinions out there for the Holzfforma PRO series? Are they worth the price for the upgrades as shipped vs the standard builds?
Maybe, they look cool :)
So what you think of that 395
SO far pretty interesting. Give me a year. And you will also see it here real time as I find out where it fits into my world .
Be interesting to see how it wakes up after half a dozen or so tanks of fuel Walt.
Run a gal thru it, that's less then 6 tanks.
I wish they’d make this assembled saws in orange. I can’t stand a blue saw lol.
I believe they are coming out with an orange kit maybe even pre built. I for one rather have blue as that IS Farmertec, they color, their saw.
i am from indonesia, & i will buy this chainsaw, How to buy this chainsaw,,, are you have the link source marketplace ?
www.holzfforma.com/
@@afleetcommand thankyou, have i nice day,,,
You never said what it cost?
$370 through Farmertec from their USA stock. But...... they are out of stock.
Right now $359, but sold out. Very good price for a 94cc saw.
Doesnt look much different then the G288
Muffler mod is a must....
