Not to take nothing away from other builders, but by far one of the best custom car builders in the world. Troy and his guys always knock it out of the park.
1 of the highest quality car builders in the custom car building industry in the small town of Manteno , Illinois. I lived there for 22 years and got to see a few of his builds first hand.
what a true legend!! Troy I believe was the founder of what we call the restomod. I've been following rad rides since the billet prostreet days. he has built some of the most ground-breaking influential cars in all of hot rodding. I grew up when Boyd Coddington who could be considered as the father and Troy his son but when he built Chicayne I believe to this day that that was the original restomod. that's been my favorite hot rod since it was built. nobody was twin turbo'ing ls engines and air ride in these 60's muscle cars. I still have every magazine that featured that car the fold out poster everything and to my recollection only after that did I start seeing pro-touring restos and restomods. I think without that car we wouldn't have the 100 custom shops that just build Camaros on a art Morrison with all parts bought where as Troy built and made his because those things and that concept wasn't around before. even to this day the cars that come out of rad rides aren't like other shops. when your building a streamliner that could win a best of show custom class next to a AMG swapped 50's sedan next to a iroc Camaro all while getting ready to break a speed record at Bonneville it not the same kind of shop as we think of custom shops. I love the new stuff like the ring brothers are truly cutting edge but I don't think they would be building cars like tusk and recoil is Chicayne was never built. I also don't think he gets the recognition he deserves like Boyd Coddington. its a shame but I don't think that matters much to him he's busy breaking a new glass ceiling. truly a one of a kind builder. great video thank you so much for taking us through his incredible facility. cheers
@@gregoryfranks7347 you are most welcome and thank you so much for your detailed comment, Troy is a true legend and he has the cars and persona to back it up! It was an honor for me to tour the shop and get a close up on some of his builds. He will be no stranger to the Radar and I hope to keep up with his extraordinary builds!
Thanks so much for the detailed tour. Thanks to Troy and his team for sharing so much of their time. I'm kind of surprised you were able to show the woody wagon. I thought it was eventually headed for the Ridler. That is such a cool build, as are the others in the shop.
Unbelievabley skilled people, turning out premium custom cars. It seems to be that the best builders, have the best attitudes towards their staff and don't have to promote themselves verbally. Keep up the great videos Rana.
LOVED this interview! Troy is in a league of his own. I recently bought a custom vehicle at auction that has the Rad Rides Tesla brake controller. Hands down the best feeling brakes I have ever experienced. Absolutely love this setup!
Rumbler! Was a car that i was overwhelming! Met Troy and family in Columbus, and had conversation with Jack at Shades of the past. The impala! Was a honor...great man to talk with!
Rana excellent work as always I have spoke to Jack in 2012 I remember well he was very well spoken & gentleman I am based in UK can’t afford custom built but Jack extremely nice Troy is great builder you should check his Sniper I think it’s in LA museum amazing car
Thank you 🙏 glad you enjoyed the video and it sounds like Jack was a very well respected man amongst his peers and in the community, something we can see the family continuing forward.
I want to thank Troy for giving us a tour of his shop and how it functions. He love's what he's doing and making a living at it nothing like Americans made product's 👍

Don’t forget that Radrides by Troy has won the Detroit Autorama Ridler Award and Andy Leach use to work for Troy Trepanier before he went into business.
Dear Ms. Ranas Radar, I really enjoy your many Videos about antique car garages. You are such a lovely woman.
