Lol, watching this and pausing whilst doing the job.. whoops, I forgot something after he almost gets the ribbon through the hole. Those damn little buttons. Lucky for me, i had already had my ribbon pulled through after hearing about the buttons. proceed to installing buttons...
Both my gauges were burnt, new gauges would cost AUD1300, send to USA for repair a bit over $600, two new parts from EBAY $64. Fixed and working, thank you very much for your video, would not have attempted repair without it
Thanks so much. Those three plastic pieces fell out of mine with me not even noticing. Had to come reference your video to see which way they went. My ribbon cable was a little different. There was a black locking bar I had to push out with a tiny screwdriver. The only thing I would add is to plug it in before you put the lens back on. Make sure the LCD screen works and the dial is in the right position. Looks like new now.
Thank you for doing this video. I watched and ordered the screens for my Sea Ray gauges. I finally got around to replacing them. Watched your video again and did the job. My gauges are like new again!
Thank you for the video it was very helpful. FYI when connecting the ribbon the black piece on the board pulls out to open the area where the ribbons goes. Then you can put the ribbons easily the push the black clip back to crimp the ribbons. I hope that helps other.
I thought exactly the same - its a common attachment on laptops and PC's . Apart from this, it is a very good tutorial (I took mine apart before finding this and for a while could not determine where the plastic slides went (after finding them on the floor!)
Excellent video which was very useful. The only difference I made was to drill a hole through the screen and using pinch nose pliers carefully chipped away at the screen. This way I didn't damage the lugs.
Thank you for posting I just did mine using your video. I was able to reuse my plastic cover by carefully prying off from top first- only having to replace to lcd screen from Amazon.
Thanks you so much for this man! I was set on just not having a screen and saying oh well until this video. I do want to add for future reference to help you and anyone else struggling with the ribbon, that black bar you are talking about is essentially a latch, you can pop it up and the ribbon come out and re installs easy and then you latch it back down. Just wanted to inform, but again really do appreciate this video!!!
Very helpful video and well done. When taking out the ribbon or putting it in the socket, the black portion of the socket is actually a pull out bracket that locks in the ribbon. Pull it forward with a small tool or even your finger nail, insert the the ribbon and push the bracket back in. Takes a couple minutes that way and creates a more secure connection.
Thank you for doing this video - I have to take my gauge apart this week and replace the lens! I don't have do to the LCD but was wondering what was involved =- you video was perfect for what I have to do. THANK YOU!!!!!
Amazing video! Wish I had found it sooner. Just sent mine in for repair. Couldn’t read the readout. Looks like a real easy fix. Very informative! Great job! I have the same gauges. Well done.
Man that was good. I have the same gauges and need this kit. I bought this kit and got it installed yesterday. Looks good. Thanks again for the info. Now I just got to get the other gauges cleaned up. They have those cracked in them
Great Video... very helpful!!, my old lens was actually glass and did not have the retaining clips, so just be aware some are glass and a bit more difficult to remove, all else went well after reading about the retaining clip on the ribbon cable, much easier.
you need to pull out the black clip on the ribbon cable connector and then the ribbon will easily slide in and then just push in that black clip on the connector which locks the ribbon cable in place.
Good vid mate thanks, I did my tach recently. Question though, do you know if it is the same LCD display replacement part for both speed and tach? Can't seem to find if they are different LCDs for each gauge. Thanks
First off, thank you for showing this content. I’m about to purchase the LCD’s for my Two gauges. My question is do you know what Torx sizes you used? I need to by a Torx kit and I want to make sure I get the correct sizes. Thank you!!!
I do not have access to the back of my gauges. How are they mounted in the console? Are they friction fit or do they have a locking ring or clips behind the console?
Hi I replaced lcd screens and worked great for a few minutes than lcd faded out on both sc1000 gauges. Seems to be a common issue but can’t find out why. Do you know how to fix this?
Most marine gauges are vented anyway so condensation can evaporate out. If your gauges condense on the inside turn on the back light and after a short time the moisture will dry out through the vent holes. I doubt this works with LED or florescent lighting do to their low heat output compared to incandescent.
I followed your general directions. It worked like a charm on both gauges. Hell yeah brother. Thank you!

Agree. Save yourself a lot of time and aggravation and pull that black clip forward. Ribbon slips right in . Once inserted, push it back in.
This video shows how the ribbon cable clamps work ruclips.net/video/UsgEZOtveRQ/видео.html it makes 99% easier to get the ribbon in

Thanks for the video. Really helped me pre-plan the lens swap out.
Thanks glad it help I figured it could help one person and I'd be happy. And it's a good lesson for my son.
Great video, agree w Fred on comb but this video really helped me a lot. Thanks
Great video but you forgot to release the comb retainer a must so you don't have to struggle installing ribbon
I did mine today , clay rood is right about the ribbon thank you guys
hi, may I know where did you find this replacement glass? I am writing to you from Italy
Great video!
Good vid mate thanks, I did my tach recently. Question though, do you know if it is the same LCD display replacement part for both speed and tach? Can't seem to find if they are different LCDs for each gauge. Thanks
Same part exactly.

Sorry do not but they are on the smaller scale I used a set for rc cars
Fabulous video. Did you buy new LCD's? if so where did you buy them?

This link doesn’t work anymore… can you direct me where to find the LCD screens?
Great video. Thanks
Really helpful. Thanks much!!
I do not have access to the back of my gauges. How are they mounted in the console? Are they friction fit or do they have a locking ring or clips behind the console?
They have a treaded plastic ring that tightens down . You will have to figure out access to the back of them .
Hi
I replaced lcd screens and worked great for a few minutes than lcd faded out on both sc1000 gauges. Seems to be a common issue but can’t find out why.
Do you know how to fix this?
That sounds like defective screens or the connection on ribbon cable is loose
Thank very good video.
Can you send website form were you buy?
Thanks this is where I bought them.

If there was a seal on the back the unit would flood if the lens gasket failed. No gasket on back allows it to drain. Intended design.

My sc1000 v6 lcd is bleeding black. Anyone know if I can replace it with a used display from a v4 unit and have all functions intact?
You could, but I would just get a new display unless the V4 is brand new the LCD will already be burning out
i think u better plug that piece in without fully seated the pcb board. Its a risk of bending that flat piece there.
Good evening, where can i find the trasparente front plastic?

thanks a lot, I avoid to brake small thing!!!
Break?
