A ton of help, thanks. I have a question though. My Smart Guage is lock on trim and will not come out of it. It says trim 25. I've done all of the resets and nothing helps. It will not cycle through the other modes at all. Ever run into this??
@@CapeFrank57 thanks for the reply! Your engine has full SmartCraft capability, so you can use any of our current SmartCraft gauges, VesselView helm displays, or VesselView Mobile.
@@CapeFrank57 You can use them all. System Monitor, SC1000 Tach and Speed, MercMonitor, VesselView, and VesselView Mobile. For part numbers and pricing, please contact your Mercury Marine dealer or Mercury Marine consumer support at 920-929-5040. 😎
Depending on your chartplotter model and which version of gauges you have, you may be able to use NMEA0183 to share speed data from the chartplotter to the speedometer. We recommend gathering some details and reaching out to Mercury Marine product support to discuss your options. The necessary information needed will be the version of gauges you have (upon gauge startup the version flashes on the bottom of the screen) and the make/model of the chartplotter you're using. Contact details for our product support team can be found via the link below. Thank you! www.mercurymarine.com/us/en/about-us/contact-us
Optional sensors or harnesses may be needed to view additional information on your SC1000 SmartCraft gauges. We recommend contacting your local Mercury Marine retailer to discuss which engine/boat information you're interested in seeing and what parts might be required.
New gauges in new boat. Fuel gauge not working, no help from dealer. Gauge reads full at 57 gallons and doesn’t move, when you say set to default will this work for me and how do I do this?
We recommend that you contact our product support team for assistance on this. They can explain how to access the calibrations menu to set your gauge to the default reading and provide an appropriate manual to help you tailor the gauges to your needs. I have a new mercury 150 HP with 2024 gauges. But tacometer does not show fuel consumption (flow). There is no fuel flow screen while pushing mode button. Does anyone have an advice to do? (I will try master reset for tacometer)
We're sorry to hear you're encountering some frustration with your SC1000 tachometer. You likely need to go into the settings and turn the fuel screen on. To do this, press and hold the Mode/Select and + buttons simultaneously for approximately four seconds until the word SCREENS appears. You will then use the - and + buttons to make changes and Mode/Select button to accept changes for each item. Feel free to contact our product support team when you're at the helm if you have any questions or wish to walk through it together. They can be reached at 920-929-5040. Thank you!
Hello Baylor, great question. The SC1000 tachometer only indicates fuel level remaining by means of reading a fuel tank sender. If you add the SC1000 Speedometer into the mix, that gauge does have a "Fuel Used" screen that you can reset each time you fill up if you want to see the gallons the engines have burned. Adding the fuel tank sender harness is the recommended route for any of our digital gauges and is generally a straight-forward installation. One end attaches to the fuel tank sender leads, the other end plugs into an existing harness on the engine. For more information on fuel tank sender harnesses or SmartCraft gauges, don't hesitate to contact our product support team through the Contact Us link on our website.
@@MercuryMarine Thanks for the reply. I've ordered the "fuel paddle wheel harness" and have a KUS sender for the tank. It's my understanding this harness connects to the SmartCraft CAN BUS at the engine. Presently the VesselView Mobile is connected there. Should I move the VesselView Mobile to the helm where I have a junction box and install the fuel paddle wheel harness at the engine?
The fuel/paddle harness will actually have its own connector on the engine that is different than the SmartCraft CAN bus connector, so your VesselView Mobile device can remain installed where you currently have it. You certainly could move it to the helm if you wish, but if you haven't had any connection issues, we would recommend leaving it right where it is.
Hello! Please can you tell me what could be problem if that "fuel used" doesn't work properly? It shows cca half of spended fuel. It shows 32 fuel spend and I refuel 60l. I also have problem with speedometer because when I start driving it doesn't work and during the ride suddenly it starts working and every time like that.

Hello Joze, we're sorry to hear you're having some frustrations getting your SmartCraft gauges to read accurately. We encourage you to contact a Mercury Marine dealer for assistance with troubleshooting as there may be some rigging issues related to these concerns. If you need help finding a dealer, please visit www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/find-a-dealer/. Thank you!
Hello Chris, great question. Typically, the paddle wheel provides the low speed input and the pitot sensor provides the speed input for medium and higher speeds. The gauge chooses the speed source based on how fast the boat is going and what speed you tell the gauge to switch the source its using (found in the calibrations). If your engine does not have a pitot sensor on it, it will not have any speed data to report. Feel free to contact our product support team at 920-929-5040 to discuss the engine you have and the settings within the gauge, and they should be able to help get your concerns sorted out.
Troll Mode not working since repower? Replaced 2005 150 Optimax with 2022 200hp Mercury 4 Stroke. Message on screen says “Must be in Gear”, I am in gear, but the Smart Gauge appears not to recognize it? I’ve done the master reset. When I get to the Cal 2 screen setting “Enable Troll Mode”, the option is to press YES or NO, and Save. I press YES or NO and cannot select either? Can you help me? I live on troll mode fishing the Northern California coast for King Salmon since 2005. Love the new 200hp 4 stroke, but want Troll Mode back. Thank you for any help. David R
Hi David, sorry to hear you're having some frustrations. A master reset should have solved the issue as the gauge is probably looking for the wrong type of engine. We invite you to contact our product support team at 920-929-5040 to discuss which gauge you have exactly, and they will be happy to assist you with sorting this out. You may also reach us at social@mercmarine.com if you'd like to share some images of the gauges you have, and we can walk you through a few steps to resolve this. Make sure that you note which version of the gauges you have as well. This can be found during the key-on sequence on the screen of the gauge, and it will be noted in the corner of the text box with V.---. Thank you!
Hello Andrea, great question. While you can change the units of measure from English to Metric, you cannot change the language used in the text within the gauges.
Hi Dan! Various displays and depth finders will have different settings in the menu where you can enable and disable alerts for depth, and even program them to sound at the depth you choose. If your display is a Mercury Marine SmartCraft gauge or VesselView unit, please reach out to our product support team via the 'Contact Us' link on our website for instructions on how to program it.
This can be done one of two ways, depending on the gauge version you have. You'll see your gauge version shown at the bottom of the splash screen when the gauge first powers up. Version 6.0 and below: Once the gauge is powered up, press and hold the MODE/SELECT and + buttons for six seconds until CAL 1 comes up on the screen. Let go of the buttons, and toggle through the options until you see DISPLAY UNITS. Change this from ENGLISH to METRIC using the + and - minus buttons. Once you have it set to METRIC, you can continue through the screens and exit the calibration. Version 7.0 and above: Once the gauge is powered up, press and hold the MODE/SELECT and + buttons for six seconds until CALIBRATION comes up on the screen. Let go of the buttons, and toggle through the options until you see DISPLAY UNITS. Change this from ENGLISH to METRIC using the + and - minus buttons. Once you have it set to METRIC, you can continue through the screens and exit the calibration.
Pitot speed is a feature only some engines offer. This would be a sensor that is installed onto the engine to pull water pressure from the lower unit through a dedicated hose, calculating that pressure data and sending it up to the gauge for a speed reading. Please work with your Mercury Marine dealer to see if your engine currently has a Pitot Sensor or if one is available to add to your application.
