- Found a time-capsule in a Berlin wood. What's in it? I'll open it on camera. Also made some new digger friends in the woods.
One of them did a great find which I was lucky enough to catch on video.
Thumbs up if you would like to see more!
With my luck, my first find would be a landmine.
the last thing he looked at kinda looked like one at first.
TheMegadethMonk it would be your last find too!
+Angels Arehere lmao #deadass 😂👌
nice one 😁
TheMegadethMonk
Imagine if the internet stays alive for the next 500 years like man archaeological gold mine.
box 8 news in the Saturday At that point, the internet wouldn't be a thing. It would've evolved so much, it would have become a consciousness.
+OspreyOtis That would be like the Advent in SOSE
Would this comment box still alive in 500 years? If so, greetings from Entre Ríos, Argentina to the future :D... I wonder if they still speaking spanish in my country, and if they still using emojis, i hope they dont do the second one tho ;).
Es el Lit Killah dam sin pila greetings from the future and the answer is yes to everything you daid
box 8 news in the Saturday Here we found a lazy town meme. Its in 750p, this means this meme was uploaded 2016.
I always wanted to start such a hobbie. The only thing stopping me is the fear that the next thing I'll find will be a landmine that will detonate as soon as my shovel hits it.
Herrman FEGELEIN lol
Tatar ball True
Tatar ball Damn... I can't even post anything now without people thinking I'm talking about antics xD
Herrman FEGELEIN lucky with my luck ima find a nuke there's like 53 of them lost I think
Jamie Krutzfeldt try 11
We should bury a bunch of time capsules that are full of those spring snakes. Just so they explode out when someone opens then 100 years from now.
Joe Morrell lol I can't stop laughing. Great idea
Sadly the springs would compress and render them ineffective
Potato peeler ):
@@Mara-vc2ch That's pussy talk, not engineering speech, we could make a polymer spring that never gets compressed over time. Hard silicone composite with glass fiber
2020 is when we start
*Opens it* *Giant note reads* "Bush did 9/11 lol"
No bush *will do* 9/11*
*why must we speak like this?*
Solar Panda13 why not?
Solar Panda13 *love this*
+Solar Panda13 he is a girl
He looks like a mix between john cena and Gordon Ramsey
Daniel Garduno yes
Daniel Garduno XD
Daniel Garduno XD he does omg
Daniel Garduno O.o so true
hello my name is NINOOOOOO
Id be carefull about old disintagrated gasmask filters like that, the cotten layer typicaly had asbestos back in the day
Yes they used to be blue asbestos.
Darren Jones No way?
+Mr. Duarte Yea I saw something about that. I heard of the filter was before 1985 then it could be dangerous but I don't know much on that subject so I could be wrong
Andre Krumins also the carbon could be dangerous. they used asbestos until the late 70's in gas masks.
He said it was non toxic

Why do I love this guy after 20 seconds? His voice is so calming
If ya like history, and a calmly voiced dude that enjoys history, I came across a channel called "the townsends" (sorry, I may have spelled it wrong), and it is all about the colonial days of the US, and moooostly covers food and cooking it.
I enjoy your videos. Keep going!
an archeologists would have a heart attack watching how you unbox that time caps. lol
they should've come earlier and dig it themselves then :D
Hahah you really don,t know where you talk about.
It’s true, plus the methodology, tools used, o recording of where find some are located (I presume). Brilliant finds and enthusiasm though lol.
Always has to be one of you huh
Sad to see how much moisture got in there.
The Restoration of Dr Who beyond repair but theres always more that will forever be undiscovered that could be perfectly intact. i hope we find some good artifacts or personal messages
I think you found a child's letter for it's father "Vater" who was on the front maybe and the child tells his father about school "Schule" and because og the writing style that's used in this letter which are children still using nowadays in school. Sad :(
Vlajic David perhaps it was the father's capsule and he kept the letter with him, that would explain why the letter was in the ground and not being sent
saint dong true
Vlajic David I think he found a note from a child named Luke and and his fathers names is Vater
It's a joke
could be possible
Amplify EX vater is no name, it literally means father
Imagine if it was a bomb and he tried to open it.
byebye world!
WeMuckAround it would probably not be functional if it was
Would be nice^^
Now thats a video 😂👌
Michael Rizig why not?
You would bei surprised n
by the amount of life explosives lying underneath the ground.
As a kid my favorite place was the barbershop, now back then we still had a few Span Am War vet's, lot of WW1 vet's including my grandfather, Army engineers development Bn. . I grew up with history, listening to those men talk mostly in French, mostly gossiping about the wife, cooking, etc... that's where I learned to cook. Then after them seeing me interested in the service, they gave me all kinds of stuff, uniforms, hats, brass, trench art, photos, bayonets, packs etc... now some 50 yrs later 519 uniforms, a 1943 MB gun jeep, found an M4A2Sherman, my front yard will get that placed. Be safe guys please, have fun ,we need more like yall.
This video really inspires me to make my own time capsule with all my important personal belongings and pass it down to my son when i grow old.
Thats some Metro 2033 Redux shit rightthere.
The Russian Meme God I got that same vibe lol
it is
The Russian Meme God that games feelis so old now
chihuahua lover a very awesome hentai.
The Russian Meme God lol u sure that's ice cream on her lmao
your first find was a modern shot gun slug
Yeah this is definitely a slug with the wad attached. It's a quite popular design in europe
Noazzland Gamer aaaaaayyye
Cloudless Oregon as in not from world war 1
Cloudless Oregon
its called a wadding
You could have taken this to Rick Harrison and he woudla probably gave you 25 bucks for it.
He probably would have started bidding a $ 2
Iron Mike Metaldetecting hahaha
Chthonian121 Or he could of taken it to hardcore pawn in Detroit for 35 cents and $6 store credit .
Well you know I have to find a buy etc etc , I have to make money to 50 cents
I like this, but how did this get in my recommended I've not watched anything that would lead to this being in my recommended, but nice vid
Your phone can here your conversations I was talking about ikea then when looked at you tube loads of ikea vids were in my recommendations strange or what.
Looks like something my friend's mom would cook.
+awesome dude LOL
I was expecting for there to be a pickle inside
king savage lol
king savage what kind of pickle? cough cough
bass master .No a hamburger.
+Ridge Pidge some old ass sandwich lol
ZERO DOKTAR!
I clicked on this video having no interest in metal detecting. But in the end, it comes down to the person behind the camera. You're good at not only detecting, but also at keeping the casual viewer, interested. I look forward to watching every one of your videos! Keep up the good work!!
Wow, what a comment! Thanks a lot Jake. I will make more videos (if the finds let me).
You got to have some patience though, It's going to take me a while to get back in the woods.
are these places dangerous, with bombs and artillery shells? or is it mostly clear?
Rusty Ranger mostly clear, i have found some live grenades though, were i metal detect
Scrubbing Bubbles Hit it with a shovel
They couldn't lmao. Only thing that would still be active are land mines.
MRlinkinpark12 well I'm sure that's not true, there is still a sunken ship in the Thames that has enough explosive power to flood half of London, not to mention blow out all the Windows, I'm sure a granade Could stay live, provided water hasn't gotten into the firing mechanism?
the SS richard montgomery
Wow that helmet was buried that deep?! It's amazing how things can be buried that far down in 70+ years. Awesome find!
Congratulations! I would not have opened the gasmask canister though....the complete helmet with the rubber band for holding foliage still on it is simply OUTSTANDING.
When you realize that there was probably a dead bits of people by the capsule.
Person. hahahaha lol
Person. Hahaha
Person. Yeah yeah, I'm not dumb
Person. not billions, thats an exaggeration, more like thousands.
Person. It's estimated that around 107 billion people have ever lived in the world, and there are around 7 billion people alive today, that means about 100 billion people have died in the world, which means for every person living, there is about 14.2 dead people lol
The thing at the 1:05 mark is a rifled slug for a 12ga shotgun probably. Hunters use them allot
hunters usually prefer a riffle over a shotgun
allot of people use over under rifle/shotgun combination here in Europe. So you have a 1 rifled barrel in a rifle caliber and usualy a 12 or 16ga shotgun barrel. So you load a slug into the lower barrel. That way you have a backup shot with a slug if you make any mistakes with the first shot. Also its illegal to shoot big game with buckshot where i live.
countryboy43 i prefer shotgun. but it's all hogs and birds down here.
What if that was an old land mine 😂
Nathan Turner it wouldn't activate if it rusted over
Shut down
It wouldn't activate?
*I* CAN'T DO IT?
greetz to you Mike and keep up the good work.
Wow I just realized halfway through that this would have been my country's enemy soldiers' belongings. It's really humanizing and such a cool find!
For a time capsule it wasn't preserved very well haha
Leader of Ducks Yeah I know. Cool either way haha
It obviously wasn't airtight. The mask is moldy as hell, and mold usually grows in very damp enviroments. Maybe it was airtight when it was buried, but with all the corrosion going on, it probably ceased being airtight long ago.
CapitalCringe 4/20 It is not a time capsule
Teemu Salminen that's what the vid called it. what is it then?
CapitalCringe 4/20 I think that is not a time capsule its part of their personal solider equipment where they could store their personal items.

Look in the photo number 7 thats what he found
I hope you donate it to an museum in germany.....it would be sad if you would take it to america or outside of germany.
Spy Crab well he"s dutch so i dont think its gets to america
Nick Prenger He sounds American.
Spy Crab mwah... somewhere in the middle he says hes dutch. and some words he say are dutch like (tip)
Spy Crab 13.27
he says he dutch
Nick Prenger ty
the helmet was cool.
jesse link Sorry it was accidental.
I love that stahlhelm. Really surprised that it had the band around it with a partial liner and chin strap
You just ruined a $300 USD antique shop item.... you could seriously harvest those and make a hefty income.
They are not that special. You can buy them easily for 20-25 dollars on ebay.
Hmm. I don't know, I've just never seen them before and I know that WWII stuff sells for a hefty amount in US antique shops; at least those in Washington.
www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Authentic-WW2-WWII-Relic-German-Gas-Mask-Box-Canister-3-/162340710884?hash=item25cc42a9e4:g:qKUAAOSw2xRYPekZ
Well I stand corrected. I know that things are generally priced pretty highly and I had never seen one before your video. It's still a neat find though.
He didn't ruin it either, it was ruined by the elements.
Little bit click baity. That wasn't time capsule, it was very deprecated gas mask in metal box.
user255 there was a message in there from the guys child
i think it roughly translates to "the father of the school" so yeah i think the letter was wither to his father or maybe a school teacher or priest of some sort.
user255 at this point people like you would call anything clickbait
A time capsule is basically something that was buried years ago, with some artifact from the time period it got buried in. So this is a time capsule.
Actually time capsule is something that is intended to be found in distant future, that contains something the maker of the capsule wanted to message to the future people.
What you describe is old artifact in some package. There is difference.
That is a foster style 12 gauge shotgun slug. Probably a Brenike which are very popular in Germany and the United States.
I really thought there was going to be a skull inside that helmet. ugh.
Feint same
ah yeah he cut of his head and put it in a capsule
jk i did it for the memes
Cylian That helmet wasn't buried as a time capsule. It was left there after someone dropped it or someone died there.
Is it just me or did I Dee a bullet hole in the helmet.
That first find looks like an unfired lead slug for a 12g shotgun . Deadly to 50 yards , also used for hunting wild boar ! I love your work . Thank you for the video !
Thanks for watching Stuart!
plot twist it's a bouncing betty
that first one is a shotgun slug
violenthauntingsanddemonic attacksurvivors IT IS NOT A SLUG, it is a "wad" m'kay? a slug is made of LEAD. yep, duh?
+Neil Armstrong wad are not rifled smartass
Neil Armstrong its a brenekie shotgun slug wise guy the wad is built into it google it or check out taoflademous video where he test the exact slug
violenthauntingsanddemonic attacksurvivors brenneke R
Just some stitch work and that gas mask is as good as new :D
To bad they didn't have stainless steel back then.
Niels Daemen Ikr
Cute Mew10 It's a gas mask??
they did have Stainless Steel back then since the great war they used Stainless Steel on firearms such as the British Lee Enfield mk3.
Stainless steel is expensive and the Germans where stretched when it came to resources.
TheBoxxWillRuleAll Well Germany actually has a lot of coal and iron.
But pretty much nothing else.
Absolutely brilliant and thankyou for sharing, as its amazing the history you dig up 👍 keep up the great work 🇬🇧
I worked at a shipyard (TODD) in the early 1980's building navy ships (ffg's). The same shipyard my Grandmother worked during WWII, when large structures are placed on the main deck; anyone nearby will place things from their pockets under the legs before being welded to the deck as a sort of time capsule like coins, etc. These will remain with the ship until it is scrapped. My Uncle worked on the dry dock as a welding/cutting supervisor and one day they were cutting steel plate for scrap from an old "Liberty Ship" we had built for WWII. While cutting an offset in a corner of what was supposed to be a large square cabin for troop transfer they found a skeleton in a welding suit ! The Coroner was called and that was the last I heard about it.
U look like mearl from the walking dead
D33z Nutz true
Merle* but jeah!!
TecSationce yeah*
See, and I was thinking more like Jason Statham.
Cool vid , anyone else think he looks like the Dutch version of,Jason statham? Lol
LOL
nah he looks much more like David Morse
Nah.. A duch Gordon Ramsay! But much more well behaved. :-)
I think he looks a bit like Merle from The Walking Dead :D
indeed
you look like a kind generous guy. take my subscribe
Appreciate you sharing that I know it sucks to mess it up but the value ur giving us by sharing was a worth while sacrifice to educate so many. You make History fun!
I love your history finds! It brings reality to all we were taught in school. Thank-you for sharing the sad but true things about war time. I am truly appreciative of all you do! Keep up the good work!
The first find is a shotgun slug with the wadding attached
Glad I came across your channel!
Greatness me too! :-)
Iron Mike Metaldetecting Good one, gut thank you, you were born and raised in Germany I am guessing?
Greatness No born and raised in Holland but I had German grandparents. They moved to Holland after the war.
Iron Mike Metaldetecting Oh you have history my friend. I like your videos, you're a pretty chill guy.
Iron Mike Metaldetecting 1st one is 12 guage shotgun sabo or plug orrr word is wad?.... still watching, thanks for show

Hi Bill, thanks for your message. Working on (future) videos so keep an eye on that. :)
That time capsule looks a helluva lot like a claymore. lol. "We saved you some war!"
'This video was brought to you by lootcrate'
Tom Holc Nice one.
Tom Holc sponsor eagle
that guy looks like jason statham
Echt weer vet gewoon! Super vondsten al is het idd niet veel voor 3 dagen, maar dat zien wij niet en hebben er dus ook geen last van :) Anyway zeker daumen hoch en gl hf with the next one. Cheers
Bedankt! :)
I think Fonzie stole that move from Russian Cosmonauts. Wow! The handwriting is amazing. So much time and history has passed between now and when that was written. Gives me a feeling of awe. That sand is nice to dig in. Iron river looks much nastier.
I swear that looked like a piece of skull in that helmet
+Adam Lumpkins must have been the helmet liner. I can assure you there were no human remains there.
Thanks for watching!
Iron Mike Metaldetecting yeah that's what I figured love the video man it just caught me off-guard I paused it and looked anyways just subscribed I love metal detecting I found some pretty neat stuff at a training base where my sister lives in the United States
Iron Mike Metaldetecting the last thing u held up kinda reminded me of an AT mine.
thanks for the sub Adam! You should have made a vid of your finds!
@trevor, nah, it really wasnt a mine. probably was a vehicle-thingy
It's Jason Stathams Dutch cousin, Jashon Shatham.
Great Video. Powerful history. I'm a new subscriber so keep the great videos coming my friend!
why is there only a gas mask in the time capsule? like why did they put a gas mask in a capsule just to bury it?
Ender Butter Not a time capsule. Its a gas mask holder lmao
Non Active that makes more sense now, he said it was a time capsule. I still don't understand why it was buried.
Ender Butter back then maybe there were foxholes dug , Artillery blast hole. or just a different entire landscape.
The man who owned that gas mask couldve even decided to bury it because he was superstitious about gas masks or something haha.
Ender Butter We will never know
Dont think its a time capsule, its a container for the gas mask, i have one myself, came with the glass container and the filter. The container he is showing is just like the one i have
that guy looks like a cross between Jason Statham and Conner Macgregor lol Jason Macgregor
that thing you dug up in the beginning is a shotgun slug also I'm a World War II reenactor fallschirmjäger is my impression I wish I could go out and dig things up like this I'd give anything in the world to do it
Its what they call a "Foster type" slug, the guy's name was Foster. He made it so it could penetrate light armor.
+Drew Shafer no, just no.
like a shotgun slug
jeremy simms lol 😂
I'm very surprised at how little the helmet seems to have rusted. looks almost as though you could take a wire brush to it and it would be good as new.
DrivenByDiamond It takes oxygen to rust, might not have had much.
What if the next helmet had a skull in it? I wouldn’t dare dig up something like this...
I metal detect when I can. Here in rural Missouri there isn't anything nearly as cool as what you find but I still enjoy finding the 'old' (for here) coin.
"I'm sorry little canister, I'm not trying to hurt you..."
me
Love your channel! Keep it up, and wish you luck with your findings
+Ethan thanks for watching Ethan!
First find was a 12ga rifled shotgun slug.
the first find looked like something that goes inside a shotgun shell
Th3MLGSc0ne yeah looks like a wad
Th3MLGSc0ne it's a slug. I've shot those a bunch of times
Thank you, Iron Mike. I love your videos!- Wichita, Kansas
+Wakita Sioux you're welcome! Glad you enjoy them :-)
I really love your videos! Keep up the awesome work, I can tell already that your Channel is going to be huge one day :D
this video is already huge (beyond expectation!)
Thanks for watching!
seems to be a german Gas mask. Schule means School. I think a kid owned it... but i have no idea
Der Vater Schule... Its a broken Sentence. its The Father School. The owner seems to be a german kid
Lucky its a Brokern sentence but its for sure not for a child but for the German Landser :) a M30 Gasmaske is for adults... you are right with the translation but it was in ww1 where every civilian had a Gasmask.
Lucky It could also be that his kid wrote that letter and the soldier took it with him. That would explain the writing: It looks like the handwriting of simewhere who just learned cursive 2 or so years ago, my little brother writing looks a lot like my brothers writing.
And the broken german could be explained if it were a foreign soldier and his kid. The Germans made german lessons mandatory.
Or i could be totally wrong... XD
jay taler I think so. Im German.
Hey brother! I hear a Dutch accent. (I have Dutch parents) thanks for posting
You've heard it correct! Thanks for watching and 'groeten aan je ouders'.
Iron Mike Metaldetecting leuk man. Trouwens echt te gek dat je dat hebt gevonden. Ik vind nou nooit zulke dingen in het bos.
ITS VERY PEACEFUL HERE XD
Thank you for taking these risks great job take care from all of us who look in bob uk.

As an archaeologist, it hurts me to see this. It is damn cool, though I wish this was done more safely and at a University.
1.05 a shotgun shell wad.
Mike Blair ye
Mike Blair
It was metal though. Aren't they usually plastic?
RedShift VS wads actually are plastic, it's dangerous as hell to use cotton or paper.
Jenna l plastic wasn't used till the late 50s

I used to metal detect with my grandpa and grandma before they passed I loved it it was so much fun
hey just keep looking, we are here to support your cool finds. very original channel keep it up.
I found a soldiers helmet on a beach once. I still have it. It was laying in the water in some plastic bag
Blizzard_gamer cool, what types of helmet was, like when was it from?
Imagine that people in Heaven watch these videos and they think to themselves "Wow, he found my gas mask!" I love the human body, sometimes.
Der = The
Vater = Father / Dad
Schule = School
DP l DecodingInspire was auch immer :D
Wow, basic German. Thanks man!
I'm thinking that the note was from a dad's child.
DP l DecodingInspire the dad school
Basically Vaders name is "Darth dad"
This was awesome. I seen this one before and still great. Never give up mike. Great stuff
No way I'm giving up :)
Really like your optimism and overall happy attitude
Thanks Keith!
The words on the paper said
"Du" "Vater" "Schule" translated: "You" "Father" "School". The handwriting looks a like the one of a young person
Holz I could be wrong but maybe the person was studying to be a priest? in a Seminary perhaps?
Steele Guitars I think he was i the "Volkstum" and wrote a letter
In soviet russia time capsule's detect them selves
I say Words lmao
