Randy, your channel is fantastic. Easily top 5 youtube bass fishing channel as far I’m concerned...every video a must-watch. Keep it up and thank you!
Great video as always. Content that can be applied in the water. Would like to see videos on ...
1. Bait rotations and why secondary bites happen when the first offering doesn't get a sniff.
2. What it costs gear-wise to move up the success ladder as an angler. Not talking about becoming a pro, just a guy who regularly catches them regardless of conditions. Its easy to invest $1000s in equipment which many of us cannot do.
I always turn my hook to run with the worm, hook point up on a neko rig, due to the weight making it fall vertical and standing the worm vertical as you hop it, surprised you show hooking it the same as a wacky presentation, which will place the hook horizontally on a neko rig. Interesting.
Maybe the worm's tail is less likely to get hooked? It's happened to me on wacky. Not you?
It's actually pronounced "neck-o" in Japan and translates as "cat". I'm Japanese-American and enjoyed your recent video about Japanese anglers! Thanks for your great fishing channel!
Thanks for the clarification!
Official pronunciation aside, it's just easier to say neeko. Necco reminds me of a candy wafer from my younger days.
@@gregstabryla9945 I used to play in a band at a club right across the street from the Necco factory in Cambridge, MA back in the 70s. Whole block smelled like Necco wafers.
@@gregstabryla9945 It's just easier to say it the wrong way? O_o
So should we say your last name as "Stabber-lah" since that looks easiest?
Thanks Randy it all makes perfect sense. Your explanation on how and where to use these set ups was spot on . The fact that the zoom trick warm floats would makes it a deadly choice on neko ric.
YOU are truly INCREDIBLE!!! Thanks for
A GREAT VIDEO!!! These are so helpful and I truly feel like I am learning a TON. Thank YOU!!
Great worm fishing Tips.
Thanks a lot Randy.

Great demonstration and explanation Randy, thanks.
Hey Randy thanks bud on the neko rig I do use a o-ring but for the wacky rig I set it up the way you taught us with no o-ring and that does make sense not to use the o-ring more natural looking hey I learned that from this really neto guy from intuitive angleing hey you gotta watch this guys channel it's the best one on u tube. Hope you got a kick out of that Randy God bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike. Ps you are with out a dout the number one u tube channel.
Thanks for spilling all this info to us every day. Some of the stuff you use in lakes doesn’t seem to work the same in the New River where I live but it’s still really good info and I like trying it anyhow.
Great information Randy. Put that small sorter wire wrap around hook( straight part just above worm ) in windy conditions. Helps for trick worm not to slide up line when catching fish.
Terrific information Randy, thanks!
Love the Neko rig with a Gene Larew Tattletail worm....Wheeler put me on them in a video of his and I catch a ton of fish on it!
I agree with everything you told us, except for the neko hook position, i think the worm sinks weird if the hook is rigged like you suggest instead of in alignment with the bait. For wacky I 100% agree with the no oring and sideways hook.
I have used this rig for 30 years and it works very well in farm ponds.
Thx for the info. Explained it very straight forward and simple.
Thanks for taking the time for the little trick and tips
The watermelon is one of my favorite No one in my club is using that color hopefully they're not watching lol
Thank you for explaining how and when to use each. Until today, I threw each like a Hail Mary and hoped for the best.
Really enjoy your tips and tricks videos
Neko is my go-to confidence rig. It's from the wacky rig lineage but I fish it more like a shaky head. I always rig it with an o-ring, hook point up- with a wacky I don't use an o-ring and rig the hook point perpendicular to the bait. Neko is hooked nearer the bottom, wacky nearer the center.
For baits I pretty much exclusively wacky rig with stick baits, either a real Senko or a Bass Pro stick-o because the action is just superior. I never use stick baits for Neko rigs. I use Zoom magnum trick worms or magnum finesse worms. I use o-rings with Neko rigs. O-rings for me are to facilitate hooking the bait, not to keep the bait intact.
If I want a more slim profile with a similar action, like a standard trick worm, I throw a chicken rig with a light wire EWG. I fish it similar to a shaky head as well. I don't fish actual shaky heads as much because they snag in the rocks more easily than a weighted worm. Keep more tackle this way and spend more time fishing than tying rigs.
I have a Wacky rigged up all the time, but never a Neko. I will add the Neko to my fishing rotation. Thanks for the explanation of the difference between and when to use each. I always enjoy your videos.
Hi Randy great tips I really like throwing the neko rig does well for me even in the winter months take care Randy....
Top four instructional channel. Great job!
Thanks Randy, saw the other video about wacky. Will try roughing it up, makes sense. You have a new subscriber!
If you wanted to keep the orientation of the hook but didn't want to hook the worm. Use 2 orings and have them criss cross. The hook can hook through where the orings cross and you are able to keep the hook in sideways orientation.
I haven’t fished the Neko rig yet but I’m just about ready to go out and give it a try. My go to rig is still a shaky head or Texas rig.
Great video randy keep them coming
Happy New Year to Randy and everyone!
I enjoyed the info. You give us.
Just became a subscriber, and first time seeing your channel. Great content!
Thx!
Thanks for this great tip and I will give this a try once things thaw out here in Central Ohio! Your channel is really great and I have liked each video and I have subscribed to your channel! :)
Love your videos Randy!! Thanks and keep'em coming. Good luck this year.
Man I’m lovin the videos very helpfull thanks 🔥🐟👍
Thx man
I was taught a little differently. Inline hooked, nose weighted is Neko; appears as a rooting bait scrubbing the mud feeding.
The wacky is weighted or unweighted bait with a perpendicular hook with or without o-rings or bands around the middle.
You keep out doing your self .I feel like I'm watching a fishing Santa Clause your great them fish better watch out this year.
I bought some weedless neko hooks to use for wacky rigs because they looked like they might be a better choice for wacky rigs
Men!... This channel is pure wisdom... thanks!
The side hook works great if you aren't using the neko retrieve to cover water. When you bounce it and retrieve to cover water the side hook doesn't look near as natural.
Great video. Love the neko!
Love your videos
Breaking it down, like a Boss! Good stuff!
Congratulations awesome ☺️
I guess technically I've been fishing the Neko rig all this time instead of the Wacky Worm, LOL. We always ran nails in the head; in fact it is rare that I don't with the trick worm. The stick baits I typically acutally wacky rig it.
Have you ever heard of a pro using a bobber with a plastic worm in a tournament? Seems to me it would work but we never hear about it.
Thanks for the tips
Have not heard that
More good stuff. Do you 'rough up' the trick worm like you do the stick style baits? Thanks.
Yep!
It glides like the old flying lure. The neko rig is great way to so something different
Good video!
What's the hook's keeper for?
You mentioned lake Guntersville. Do you live in Alabama?
Never seen anyone rig the Neko rig like that huh! I’ve seen wacky rigs like that so it falls to one side while targeting docks or cover to one side but never Neko rigging. to each his own.
Do you ever use the flick shake rig?
Yes it’s one of my faves
+1 on Flick Shake. Been using it for years -- long before I knew it had a name
I never tried neko cause I figure you lose your weight every time you lose a worm. I just use wacky rigs.
Why do you use the gamakatsu straight shank with the plastic keeper on it instead of one without it. You said that the o ring is something that you do not use partly because of its unnatural look and yet you fish a hook with an unnatural look that you are not using for its intended purpose. That spur will also have more of a chance to catch weeds upon retrieve. Please explain.
I’ve experimented with lots of different hook styles and sizes and this is the one that works best for me. The O-ring not only adds a visual negative to the bait but the hook position is not as effective as hooking it straight through. The hook is always going to be a bite negative to some degree
@@randyblaukatintuitive Thanks for your reply. While I do agree with not using an O ring as you previously had mentioned, I use the Gamakatsu G-finesse stinger wacky/neko hook as it is a straight shank light wire without the spur, just saying.
Why does everyone call the senko type baits soft plastic, but every other bait made of the same material is called rubber
love u channel
It's ridiculous how many bites those two presentations get, probably the only things a beginner or a kid needs to have tied on.
If anyone cares, "Neko" is a Japanese word, and the "e" is pronounced as a long "A".
If you don't pronounce it correctly it won't catch as many fish...🤔
