Love you guys! Ren's Volumes 1 and 2 were written before he was 26 or 27. he just turned 34.. He says he has over 1, 000 songs on hard drives that he wrote. He picked these out and finished them. I think he's going to release a volume 3 from these older writings.

This song references Ren's time working with Sony. In an interview, he said that Sony was great to work with, but his health started to fail. He tried to cover it up and pretend like he was fine. He said he would do some takes, excuse himself to go to the bathroom, and then vomit up blood before going back into the studio. He eventually had to accept that he was making things worse and Sony and Ren parted ways amicably.

I’m sorry, but it made me giggle that you mentioned Demos vol. 2 without considering that there might be a vol. 1 before that one 😂 So much greatness from his earlier releases that deserves more attention. Well it’s Ren so it’s honestly all good 😅
One of my personal favourites is off Freckled Angels: Crutch feat. Bibi. As an older song it’s from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning. Also very different from everything else in his catalogue!
I can tell ya, Haven't found one I don;t love !! And I have heard some of the best, hundreds of concerts through out the 70s and late 60s in San Francisco so the venues were to many to remember ! And Ren is different unique and intelligent .. Nice reaction guys. Have you done Heretic ?? Another good one..

In the interview on the Zach Sang Show (a must watch) Ren lets Zach know that he has at least a thousand songs sitting on his hard drives, mostly coming from when he was really unwell and could not do much else except compose and write, some he has since released as demo's. yeah, the first stages you are experimenting, learning, not knowing or caring about rules, but after a time you develop your style and when you're not ren, that can hamper you in your expression.
Always love watching you two groove to Ren’s brilliant music! I found this song just a few months ago; another gem in Ren’s goldmine! I highly recommend you check out Dominoes next as other commenters mentioned. It is another incredible song with a really powerful message.

I love hus esrlier stuff and thank goodness he could get it out on YT since he couldn’t be out their grinding in the usual way. It’s just a damn shame that he wasn’t ‘discovered’ in this phase because the industry only looks in certain place. Clubs and venues they have cultivated and curated for decades.

There's so many, plus all the stuff with The Big Push and Sam Tompkins, Swan Song by the Big Push will give you some idea of the range he is capable of along with it's a man's world with Sam busking live on the streets of Brighton.

Ren's first, that he doesn't even count, is the Love Music album that's only available on bandcamp. Then his debut album Freckled Angels, followed by EP's Demos 1 and Demos 2, and finally his sophomore album Sick Boi, tho he has also dropped a few songs that aren't on an album.

I can't speak for your viewers, but I think it's highly unlikely that Ren himself would be upset that you hear similarities between his voice and Sting's. In a RUclips interview, Ren said that Sting was a huge inspiration for him. "Singing Sting's stuff for me - in the early Police stuff particularly - just felt really good for me in my range ... and I think his choice of melody kind of leaked into my choice of melody because I listened to them so much growing up. I really love it; it's slightly more unusual."
Also, as MissMeKate commented, The Big Push did a fantastic cover of Sting's "Englishman in New York" and there's also at least one busking session with Sam Tompkins in which Ren incorporates part of The Police's "Walking on the Moon." Of course, you already saw his recent video "Back on 74/Message in a Bottle," so there's another song by The Police right there! 😊
