Pictures Of Matchstick Men - The Blue Hospital Sessions, Episode 5 (Status Quo Cover)

Seeing a RUclips video of a very young British band awkwardly miming to their first single hit in their first appearance on Top Of The Pops in 1968 reminded me of the fact, that this very song has accompanied me (and surly many of you, if you’re in the correct age group), all through the Seventies.
The distinguished single - note opening and the warbling mix of wah - wah guitars and e-piano struck a note in my admittedly underdeveloped part of the brain responsible for processing musical information ( come on, I was six or seven....).
The band was, of course, Status Quo and the song was Pictures of Matchstick Men.
Little did I know (adding to many things I didn’t know at the time) that this song about, well, something very profound if looked at from a psychedelic angle (and apparently inspired by British painter L.S. Lowry and written by Rossi on a toilet, thanks, Wikipedia....) would emerge in 2020 during our never - ending search for original material to adapt and interpret on the Blue Hospital Sessions channel.
It was clear from the get - go that we would need a special approach and since there are so many versions of this classic out there, the level of tweaking to make it stand out was immense.
