If you get a border collie In the next year or 2 please make lots of videos training it. I’m looking to get one for agility and trick shows so any tips on training Is great. Love your videos and Cowboy. Have a wonderful day.

My nephew has a Belgian Malinois, and we discuss the similarities between our dogs. Malinois are more athletic, and certainly better protectors though

I have an Australian Kelpie/Cattle Dog Mix. She’s a good watch dog but I don’t think she would bite. Her herding instincts are very strong. She’s great at agility.

I have a border collie. She is a fantastic friend and she's brilliant. She is not - however - any good at watch dog duties. Someone can approach my home and she doesn't care AT ALL. If I were to ever get another dog it would be a dog that had some watchdog ability built in.

Have you heard of Mcnab Shepherds. Look them up, super cool dogs. Top Gun Mcnab shepherds great representation of the breed. I have a cattle dog 13 years old. Great dog but still never stops, and her obsessive behaviors are more pronounced with age. Mcnabs have an off switch. Great smart athletic and protective and a herding breed.

Malinois are not a fulltime job. Yeah sure, the first 2 years they need a lot of work, but so does my Aussie. If anything my malinois was easier as he had a shitton of focus and drive, but could also be left alone easily. Having said that they are not dogs if you have a lot of people coming over. They wil always guard you, it took me took a lot of effort to get that out of him.

I'd say both those breeds ( Mals and Aussies ) are more work than most. Just depends on your living situation and what you're looking for in a dog! For someone like you and me who is used to that high drive type of dog, maybe not as much. But for someone going from a french bulldog to a mal (or their first dog) it could be considered quite the time consuming task.
