Sets like this make me wish Lego did an Architecture line for Star Wars. I have no use for a clumsy, inaccurate replica of Jabba's Palace with a missing dollhouse wall, but I'd buy a smaller, reasonably accurate shelf ornament instead.
What nobody seems to realize is that the throne room doesn't have the dome for its roof. It's underground. WAY underground. Also microscopic compared to the dome.
@@JANGsLEGOreviews That may be so, but it’s clear that the backside of the set is aiming to create a facade of the palace in its whole. Without the roof, it looks incomplete. I wouldn’t put it past them to release a separate bacta tank room set that attaches to the top to complete the look, but for the price of this set I would have rather it be included from the get-go.
I also think its non-inclusion makes sense considering the light controversy with the last version of this set. I honestly don't really see what the issue was with that but I understand if lego wants to distance themselves from that old design because of it.
@@JANGsLEGOreviews i mean yeah, but it's more from a displaybility point of view, can sacrifice accuracy for making it look better to the eye imo, still like it, easy to mod
this feels like a set future fans will really want, much like the last palace we got. such a shame the price is so high, makes fans who have the opportunity to buy it not want to
This looks ok, but the last one just looked so much more substantial. The tower was much taller and the exterior was much better looking and more accurate too.
The set is extremely lazy and overpriced. The figures are not that good apart and cut a lot of corners, the build is ugly as a display piece... This isn't worth at all the price tag. Would have been a better set it it was just the throne with Boba and Fennec for 15€.
I actually like the trone sliding out fully, makes it easy to just display the throne if you want to disassemble the set. Still gives you the context behind the show if you low on space and just bought the set for figures to display
I wish Lucasfilm could have given more information to LEGO about this setting. Most of what's here is not relevant to the show. Although, I'd probably rather have those classic alien figures than figures of the Mods anyway.
I agree on the color of Boba Fett's helmet. However, could the reason be that the darker green color they use is the same color as the markings on the helmet? So using a darker green would result in losing that detail.
Hi, Jang! Very weird request, but if you have a character whose name you don't want to pronounce in a video in the future (for very understandable reasons! 😄), could you write it on-screen? I skipped straight to that figure in the review because I thought she looked cool and wanted to look her up (even though I don't have a lot of interest in other modern Star Wars stuff) and am left with a bit of a cold trail, eheh. Thank you for the consideration.
The Theelin Dancer figure is the star of the set. She has such beautiful detail. Espically the cheast and back print with the almost "holographic" designs
Great review as always Jang! Looking at this tan structure reminded me that I’ve not seen any reviews of the re-relaunch of the Harry Potter line from you- is this in protest to JK Rowling’s views? If so, mad respect.
It is. The sets have been looking fantastic and I respect the opinions of folks who side with the separation of art & artist, but I myself have seen too much lasting pain from the impact of the artist's words & actions that I personally choose not to continue to promote her art. I'm open to reconsidering this in the future if a lot more separation is made between the two.
@@JANGsLEGOreviews thats really cool to hear. I struggled with this greatly myself as I have been undertaking a huge custom Hogwarts castle build which I started before she began making these comments- I chose to put a PSA at the start of my video denouncing her views, and focused my praise on the artists who created the castle prop itself for the movies, but I still feel uneasy about it. Thanks for sharing your perspective JANG, I'm a huge fan and your perspective is greatly appreciated.
It's not very well designed.. price aside, why don't the doorways connect? Why can't I close this up to be one sealed building? Why is there not more space to put minfigs? It looks good on a shelf but it's a bad play set.
I think it's a bad deal for $100. The build kinda sucks and so do the figs. Same boba fett as the last set he was in, fennec without a helmet, only one gamorean guard. I think lego is working to much on figs and not the build and yet they're still failing.
Like the mix of minifigs. The basic idea is great for a set. The folding rooms/walls don't do it for me. But not bad for a set that Disney wouldn't have fully explained.
Great review Jang, love your vids as always, but wow this set really highlights how lego star wars sets have slipped over the years. This set is really rough for 100USD. The details on those side builds are rough.
I recently got this for 80 euros, and I think that's a really fitting price for this set. The build quality is really sold, and I'm not too bothered by how easy the throne slides out as it is just a display piece for me. I love the amount a variation in minifigures, some really unique (and for me personal new) ones. Yes, Boba Fett should have had his rearmored jetpack and helmet. Yes, Fennec should have come with her signature helmet. But even then I think this is worth picking up for 80 euros/dollars.
I do like this set. It is flawed, yes, but I’m okay with it. I found this at Costco for $80, and felt it was worth that price. I do not feel it is worth $100.
It's a weird set. it felt like they were rushing for book of boba fett and they just got it all kinds of wrong on the minifigures. One Gamorian Guard? No helmet for Fennec and just random everyone else. :/ Possibly it should have been a 30 dollar dias with throne?
I didn’t like this set…. But you can get it at Costco right now (as of 4/27/22) for $60… so I picked it up. I still don’t think it’s a great set, but I like the minifigs so I picked it up. I have the 2012 Jabba’s Palace, so I’ll be opening for minifigs then parting out the set.
I remember years ago when we got Jabba's Palace which looked much bigger (and could be assembled with the Rancor Pit, I might add), this new Palace looks pretty nice, if a bit expensive, I'm sure it will probably be 25$ more here in Canada! Still, not a bad set, not perfect, no. Thanks for the review, Jang!
Looking forward to getting this but I will definitely wait for a discount. In terms of the wider context I'm also fine with no dome. That additional height would be wasted space in a playset anyway, and the price would be even higher. I'd much rather see a usable side room like the booth in this set. In terms of aesthetics I don't think it detracts too much; it's pretty much impossible to do the palace justice at this scale to begin with so it's not a huge loss. Another guard and maybe a droid (8D8!) would maybe justify the higher price.
Truly hate this build. The throne is ok, but the tower and the dome suck. The figures are the only reason I'm picking this up. So happy I have the 2012 version. The builds aren't even close
All I see is set full of good ideas but because of limits its very unfinished. Seriously make a tower a separate set. And use budget on making better looking main hall.
I think the elephant in the room in terms of value is that Jabba isn't included in this set... Yes, I know that this is Mandalorian themed but it's still Jabba's Palace at the end of the day... Jabba's only ever been included in palaces and sail barges, so this was a wasted opportunity to give newer fans the Jabba figure (I am one of the lucky ones who got into Lego Star Wars around the Jabba and Rancor monster sets).
I would change the minifigures so it was less scene specific. Boba, Fennec and Bib are fine but I would have preferred an extra Gamorrean guard and 8D8 instead of the other characters.
Back in 2012 and 2013 there were two Jabbas Palace Sets. One was Jabbas Palace itself and one was just the Rancor Pit. Both were full sized buildings and they actually were designed to be put together. Unfortunately i only have the Rancor Pit which i think would not work with this version but it would be nice if they go back to that Idea.
Shame they used really hard to apply stickers, for a set at that price you would think there would be some exclusive prints rather than using pre existing prints on parts, I can technically make this with my own parts, and that Bib fortuna looks awful! I think Lego are just making a cash grab on a set that could have been something really special, so it’s a no from me 😕
I bought this set yesterday and for some reason got a random piece. I ended up with yondu’s golden arrow piece. I checked and its not listed in the parts list. Never have had this happen in my 20 year lego journey
this show was trash and the set is overpriced... the figures are nice (expect for bobas sand green pieces - very cheap, lego) but i will definitely be passing on this
Two years later, just now watching this video, and your Amazon link has this at the better price of $80. :) As someone who likes Lego more than Lego minifigs, I gotta say, for whatever reason, the minifigs to me are by far the highlight of this set after watching your review [though the lack of helmet for Fennic is weird and agree with the you on the bad choice of color for Fett's helmet/jetpack]. That dancer figure - that printing on the torso, hips and legs is amazing. When TLG puts effort into it, they can really get some amazing prints [Fennic as well looks spot on!].. I wish I hadn't missed out on the original Jabba's Palace set - I think that's what is having me think about getting this one [plus I own so many sets from Tatooine, it feels like I should own this one as well....sigh...I really do need to purchase the winning lotto tickets. soon ;) ].
Characters who use skirt should ALWAYS come with fabric skirt pieces. Unfortunately, Lego is getting lazier each passing year in some aspects, for example this one...
$100 is what I expected the Australian price to be. Perhaps $120 at the most ($85-90 for the US). However our price is $170 - which is over 23c per piece... it's one of the most over-priced sets I've seen for a long time. I refused to buy the UCS A-Wing for being $340 for on ly 1700 pieces. This is worse! I do love the figure though - and it seems to be a great play set.
Honestly… I’d like to see that set at $60 with 1 less figure. There’s just nothing there that’s worth it, no play features, it’s a chair in a room with slightly inaccurate figures. To me I just don’t get it, but maybe $80 is more reasonable, $100 is weird
I agree with you, Jang. Overall I think this set is far too over priced and overhyped. I also think the lack of details on the building, in particular the missing roof is actually a huge miss and one of the primary reasons I will not be buying this set. It just looks incomplete to me. As always, great review!
It's a shame they didn't include the Bacta tank in this set... and that it doesn't close completely... should have been double the size for that price. Also the stickers, Lego has so much competition these these days that don't use stickers even on cheaper sets, they can't continue this way.
Why no helmet for Fennec? Ridiculous omission. Also this set screams out for a corresponding basement set with Rancor and his pit, where Luke could forget he has the Force and clumsily heave a rock at the door switch. Silly movie
Boba fetts entire jetpack is wrong, They are still using Jango's alternate jetpack. IOm surprised that Fetts armour is not a seperate piece. Iv sen some bootlegs that look great.
Just wanted to put this here. Jang said it would be great at $70, and I just got it for $70 from Walmart a few days ago. Reach for the stars everyone! :)
Bought this last week on sale for 64€ and have to say I'm not satisfied and thinking about selling it again or buying parts to mod it for a better look. The build feels good and has some details but it just doesn't look good at all. The figures are nice but I'm more interested in builds than figures.
Boba's chest plate should also be printed in sand green to match the helmet and the jet pack. My guess is that they keep producing those pieces in sand green so the dark green printing on the helmet won't be in a new and different color.
Besides the price this set has so many really bad design choices. All those swinging and opening mechanics don't add anything. I'm really disappointed by the set.
They would have been better just doing the throne room and not failing to make it look like the palace. They have cut out the roof due to the controversy and that is just daft.
I love when you have to wait to get home to watch the review since you get the notification and it doesn't disappoint (it never does as a matter of fact)
I actually think the gammorean guard is a bit inaccurate, the 2 we see in book of boba fet are shirtless so the figure in this set ought to have a bare green chest imo but the overmold piece they use for him does look great, just inaccurate for book of boba fett
But this isn’t really Book of Boba Fett. This is from the teaser at the end of Mandalorian season 2. The guard was shot on the stairs (hence that play feature). Technically this is Bibs palace.
So, what Book of Boba Fett sets could we have next? My money's on: 1) Rancor Rampage 2) Scorponek Droid 3) Mods vs. Majordomo Speeder Chase 4) Pyke Syndicate's Smuggler Train
honestly mostly because of Fennec's Helmet not being included, her hair piece not looking accurate at all and Boba's helmet and jetpack still not having the darker shade of green, I starting to think twice on whether or not I should get this set and instead spend it on 2 more 501st battlepacks. Also I find it funny how LEGO is kinda teasing us with box art. Cause Fennec is there with a helmet by her side
Unfortunately, the palace itself could not convince me, which is why I took the parts for a Nevarro Cantina MOC (you can see it on my channel). The minifigures are not that good too. But the set is a great parts donor if you buy the set cheaply used without figures. by the way nice review.
$100 for that? Just like with the head pieces, Lego has gone out of their mind with the pricing. Did their special blend of plastic inflate along with everything else?
Thankfully, you can pick this up at Costco for $80- my local one has had a full pallet of these at that price for over a week now!
Sets like this make me wish Lego did an Architecture line for Star Wars. I have no use for a clumsy, inaccurate replica of Jabba's Palace with a missing dollhouse wall, but I'd buy a smaller, reasonably accurate shelf ornament instead.
This set looks really good. The only issue most people have is the roof. I personally don’t care but would rather have the roof.
What nobody seems to realize is that the throne room doesn't have the dome for its roof. It's underground. WAY underground. Also microscopic compared to the dome.
@@JANGsLEGOreviews oh wait that’s right I fell dumb not realizing that it’s been fact since return of the jedi!

Boba Fett: "Don't nobody go in the "Throne Room" for 35-45 minutes!!!"
Somebody open a window!
I wish the side sections were able to swing around to the front of the throne room, even if that wouldn't be accurate to the show.
I agree on the color of Boba Fett's helmet. However, could the reason be that the darker green color they use is the same color as the markings on the helmet? So using a darker green would result in losing that detail.
thing is the markings on the helmet are now black (with the base helmet being the darker green), so the detail wouldn't be lost.

The Fennec minifigure's face in this set looks like Nyna Calixte from the Legacy comics.
It just occurred to me that if they do a Boba Fett Castle then much like the Darth Vader Castle it will have to come with a bacta Tank.
7 minifigs in a $100 star wars set is almost unheard of these days..they get so greedy with star wars figs sometimes.

But this isn’t really Book of Boba Fett. This is from the teaser at the end of Mandalorian season 2. The guard was shot on the stairs (hence that play feature). Technically this is Bibs palace.
The used the Gamorrean Mold they had for almost 10 years so it would be way more expensive to design a new one.
I wonder If we will ever get a ucs jaba/bobas palace
It's far more likely now we have seen rooms and sections within it in the Book of Boba Fett.
Oh, they're rancor faces! I can't unsee the Honey Monster...
Just got it for 79!! 🙂 it was priced down in a toy store.
I got if for 45 bucks on ebay so i personally like it!
just picked it up for $99 aus, that’s a third off lol
So, what Book of Boba Fett sets could we have next? My money's on:
1) Rancor Rampage
2) Scorponek Droid
3) Mods vs. Majordomo Speeder Chase
4) Pyke Syndicate's Smuggler Train
honestly mostly because of Fennec's Helmet not being included, her hair piece not looking accurate at all and Boba's helmet and jetpack still not having the darker shade of green, I starting to think twice on whether or not I should get this set and instead spend it on 2 more 501st battlepacks. Also I find it funny how LEGO is kinda teasing us with box art. Cause Fennec is there with a helmet by her side
I only want three of the minifigs. The rest can screw off
No fennec helmet is probably the sets biggest mistake
Unfortunately, the palace itself could not convince me, which is why I took the parts for a Nevarro Cantina MOC (you can see it on my channel).
The minifigures are not that good too. But the set is a great parts donor if you buy the set cheaply used without figures. by the way nice review.
Great review as always. Love that we get an extra door droid printed piece.
$100 for that? Just like with the head pieces, Lego has gone out of their mind with the pricing. Did their special blend of plastic inflate along with everything else?
Lego Star Wars has become just a way to get cool mini figures, apart from ships because locations have become disappointing and overpriced.
there is just one thing i gotta say for the front of the thing: ew
Gamorian Guard Battle Pack!
for once the price is the same in America as it is in Europe
