higher refresh rates helped me SO MUCH especially with rhythm games, I feel like pjsekai on my Samsung being capped at 30 fps while playing but 60 while on the menus but when I turn on 120hz the menu lags but the gameplay is so much responsive, the only problem is heating :')
@@scarlet.miku39 I was thinking of buying a cooler but how do i place it and play?
Or when the device gets heated put it near the mini table fan and let it cool
Idk how much it will work tho
@@hotoke666 honestly I go with a small electric fan or place a nearby electric fan so you won't sweat and your device can stay a bit cooler like that's what I do when it's summer
@@scarlet.miku39 yeah i think I should do this as well.
To add on to one of your points - JPSekai had an update where they turned VSync on by default and you couldn't turn it off anymore - which means that no matter if you have the 120fps setting on or not - if your device is 60hz, it will only be able to run at 60fps.
my device have 120hz, but it still running on 60fps
@Hok_aloh Are you on global server? If so, you will more than likely have to manually change it in your settings.
@@kurokazerealI'm on JP server, thank you but I just realised that I forgot to turn on "apps running on higher refresh rate" in my phone's settings. Now I can play in 120fps🎉
@@Hok_aloh Nice! :D
You called out so many people with that talk about inches
i'll say one thing - the perfect window for project sekai is ~41ms
so 60 fps gives u around 2-3 frames to hit the note perfect (1000/60 = 16.67, 41/16.67 = 2.5)
but 120fps not only makes it smoother, also gives you double the amount of frames to hit it perfect
this is why im struggling to ap in 30 fps :p
the "double frames" usually only gives you a slightly larger window, but 30 fps pretty much makes it so perfects have to be frame perfect
@@iexist_nt exactly
refresh rate doesn't affect polling rate which basically dictates how often a decice would sense a input being pressed and if you are still confused go watch tokaku's video on polling rate
bro we're taking that 120fps car any day!! 🔥🔥🔥 (hope your car gets repaired soon)
I remembered playing on 30 FPS due to Battery Saver, and it was so inconsistent. I always get Good and Great.
When I turned it off and brought it to 120. The difference is so noticable.
Why am i watching this, i cant even download the english ver 💀🙏😭
Manifesting that you get a better phone 😞🙏
something that you didn't mention but is equally as important is polling rate which basically tells the game if you are pressing any input and can make a big deal if you have a low polling rate and hit a note barely in the perfect window but the polling cycle sends it to the great judgement
OMG ME MENTIONED! JEFF I FEEL SO HONORED 😭 THANKS FOR USING ME IN YOUR VIDEO ❤❤❤❤
hello there, nick 😨
I was playing the international version of Project Sekai with my iPad that supports 120 hz but I never noticed that it wasn't running at 120 hz until I decided to get the Japanese version since I heard that the international version was a year behind on features. And once I did that, I noticed how much smoother it was it was like "woah" and then whenever I go back to international I can really feel the 60 fps and then I started googling and then realized that only jp had it ;-;
As someone who plays rhythm games on pc.
The difference between 60 fps and 120 fps is HUGE.
On my phone i noticed a huge difference and makes gameplay so much better
I play on a Samsung Galaxy S10, and it has a 60hz 6.1" OLED screen. I'm quite used to 60hz now, since I've been playing on this refresh rate for 2 years now. and fun fact: 90hz/120hz Android phones do run Project Sekai at their native refresh rates, no matter the version. It's only iOS that soft limits the game's frame rate even if you have a 120hz screen. That's why when I tried playing on my friend's Galaxy A52s 5G (which has a 120hz 6.5" OLED screen), I actually had a harder time reading each note which made me lose all my health. (and before you ask, yes that was before the 3rd anniversary update.)
I personally find that 90fps is the sweetspot for my phone. It improves my note reading, and it helps me out when the game lags! Playing on 120fps makes the notes look all kinds of crazy, and I think that's because I don't have the 120fps toggle on (thank you for that, I found out right now). But yeah, having issues with lag is my main reason for not playing on 60fps. I have an Asus Zenfone 8, for reference. It's so small I can barely play Append on it, but otherwise it treats me well in terms of my rhythm game experience.
Well it does now! The UI overhaul has come to EN server and now im watching this video.
For games like Geometry dash, fps and refresh games are amazing
Absolutely. The demonlist is basically geared for higher refresh rates.
When I was watching this video, I was just thinking of gd lol
I own a Sony Xperia 1 V and play at 240hz for quite some time now.
I play on a 60hz ipad and when I switched over to my iphone at 120hz, it instantly made me feel like I am playing better even though the screen was a bit too small and narrow for me. Hitting perfect on trills is also a lot easier with 120fps compared to 60fps, because the motion blur can really mess up my reading
This video was just a realization that my iPad can’t run 120 fps 😭 it’s a bare minimum 60HZ.
i checked my phone immediately and found out i can switch from 60 to 90 fps and it helps sm
One notable correction is that the other servers of pjsk, DO support 120fps. It always has been running at 120fps without having to change anything in the setting, you can check it yourself by just playing a few charts so your eyes are accustomed to 120fps, then limit the refresh rate of the device to 60hz and play, try and you'll easily see the diference. I think there was just a misundertanding that the jp server didn't add the 120fps option, it added the 60fps option
Oh, if I wasn’t clear in the video this is from the perspective of an iOS user.
As far as I know Apple devices couldn’t play in 120fps until the anniversary update.
thank you, 0.1 inch is indeed huge (i am a she/her female)
my main issue with 120 fps is that it causes weird glitches with 3D MVs
I never had issues with the 3D glitching, tho the issue is that its forced to run at 120fps which takes Way too much performances and gets my phone overheating after a few songs with 3d mv
@@SpeedyGwen when camera moves fast, all the characters are vibrating is the glitch I have, like one of them moves at 60 fps and other at 120
I don't have any problems with notes tho, just the 3D MV
@@Lordszynencja I think its ur phone not being strong enough to handle it so its messing up the frame rate and its not having it
But then why does it redraw everything with offset? It would just have less frames instead of characters vibrating left and right
I used to play rhythm game on 60Hz phone (in this case, Phigros, because it can run on potato phone), which I play quite well, but 2.5 years ago I got Xiaomi pad 5 which has 120Hz screen. Up until now, I can't go back to 60Hz anymore. I feel like I'm hitting more late and my touch isn't so responsive in rhythm games, maybe I used to 120Hz screen but the weird thing is I can normally play OSU! on 60Hz monitor without the same problem I just talked about. Weird, right? I know.
Ps.1: I got Xiaomi pad 6 now because the old one is broken.
Ps.2: English is not my native language, so some parts will have wrong grammars.
W video, also I just use my phone to play pjsk, I’ve tried on a friends iPad and honestly I played worse. Might just be cause I only tried a couple times tho
WTH BRANDON?!
I was literally just looking for vids with pjsk tablet tips...
@@Rik0Art HELPPPP riko are you stalking me 🤨🤨🤨🤨
I always played prosekai on my xiaomi mi 11i which has a 120hz display and I did notice that having it at 120fps is MUCH much better than 60fps, especially for such a fast game as prosekai
also, the xiaomi mi 11i has the ridiculously beefy processor for a phone which is the snapdragon 888 and I dont ever get performance issues even with the 3d stage in the background activated, tho after a few songs, it usually overheats if I dont remove the silicon case or just disable the 3d
also I got it for around 300€in perfect shape which is why I love android phones, they can be soooo much cheaper than other options and do a good enough job
btw, a 120hz screen is Incredibly good for anything, may it be scrolling, at 60fps the text gets blurry when scrolling while it doesnt as much at 120fps or 144fps
also, I always played on the JP verssion of prosekai and I didnt understand on half of ur vid why u said that it didnt support 120fps but u did confirm that it suports it later on
I originally got my iPad Air for a different game cuz the screen is smaller and easier to control, now that I main project Sekai, I’m wondering at what’s stage would I need an upgrade?
I play with 120 FPS on my phone on EN pjsk (yes, it works), and it changed my life. It's smoother, reduces input delay by a lot, it feels very responsive and allows me to play on a high speed (between 11.2 and 11.4). However, 120 FPS on EN is kinda glitchy, it's very noticeable in 3DMVs, where some animations aren't rendered in high enough FPS, or the main menu, where scrolling is capped at a lower FPS (for me it feels like 45-60).
Someone correct me if im wrong,
But I think the menu is the same for JP
Where its running at a lower frame rate, and only kicks into 120fps during shows
when i use 60hz on my phone for any server theres lag, but when i use 120hz on 60fps its fine and theres lesser input delay so we can technically use 60fps on 120hz
i had a monitor that had 75hz option, and i tried it for osu!mania (my main pc rhythm game)
helped quite a bit compared to my 60hz monitor, especially as the noted appeared more smoother. Alternatively, just play better and time to the music better.
120 hz is pretty big in a lot of arcade rhythm game, from bemani games like Beatmania IIDX and Sound Voltex, to also sega games like Chunithm. These all have the same thing in common, that is all of the game being a vertical scrolling game(notes go up and down, aka VSRG)
120 is nice in these game because there is something called ghosting, where the notes falling down might have this "shadow" that mnight mess up your reading. 120hz basically solves this issue. 120hz just make the game feel much more fluid and smooth.
I started taking iidx more seriously just before the lightning cabs came out
And oh man, ever since playing on them I can’t go back to playing on 60hz 😭
2:40 I'm VERY sure, that pjsk runs at 120 fps (in android atleast)
Yes im sure too !
I guess I shouldve been more clear that
this video was about ipads/iphones lol
Folern expert chart is so fun!
you can unlock 120fps in jp, but my phonetato can't even get stable 60fps :>
120fps right now has not been fun for me, it might be a skill issue but compared to when i used to play on 60 im playing so much worse.
i'm pretty sure En server has uncapped fps..? cuz i really see the difference when i switch from 60 hz to 120 hz on my phone when playing en server. but jp server has 60 fps and 120 fps options
Forgot to mention this is specific to apple devices
What kind of phone do you have ?
@@laoloserr the redmi note 12 5G.
thank god i went with the ipad pro m2 instead of the lated ipad air m2
YAY LAOLOSER POSTED MORE TIPS
Yoo I have Xiaomi pad6 and it has 144hz does that mean I get 120 fps?
In different game I get 144 fps so how do I find out how I get 120 fps in proseka?
5:03 😥Rip
My phone has 120hz but i am not used to it, since i just get an absurd amount of great fast and just dont want to bother with it
Maybe i have to soon, since flicks delay are a real problem, but the problem is game performance has been dropping like hell since the engine update and my phone just cant consistent 120fps(on 60fps fasts is coming more often), waiting patiently for Sega to fix the game(bc even M4 ipad cannot have 120hz with 3dmv on anymore as i saw on twitter)
How do I test my devices refresh rate, At least for Project Sekai?
first check if your screen is 60hz or 120hz, a quick google search should tell you.
Does the finger position matter in rhythm game?
Some rhythm games more than others
Depends on what youre playing !
so i have 2 higher refresh-rate devices, one is a 2022 14 Pro Max, and another that came out really recently a gaming phone 2024 Red Magic 9 Pro that supports both 120hz, the issue with both of my phone is i had to split them both, my screen response rate on my red magic 9 is too responsive which causes me too hit my note early, i have never realized that Psjk EN didn’t support 120 because when i tried the JP with the 120hz option, i was comfortable playing on 11.1 notes bc of how fast the notes were coming, now for my iphone is mainly for EN, the difference between both of them is response time and the note due to EN haven’t gotten the Ui overall like the jp did i had too lower down my notes speed bc of the 60Hz capped so my notes feels abit delayed to hit and it causes me to hit a great or a good if it gets really bad, but this is my POV of both of my phone and side by side since i own multiple 120 even 165hz at some point considering switching to ipad soon.
yes
bg folern gameplay!!!!
I use Android!
Me too!
Lol me who has 90 fps lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
