    sorry, i think you tried your best but do your homework. "Industrial" is not just synthie-Metal. Industrial being first mentioned by Monte Cazazza is an dada-ish artwork Lifestyle and its first musical output is being recorded by Industrial Records in the UK. Throbbing Gristle (formerly COUM Transmissions) did it first, being followed by SPK, Monte Cazazza, Einstürzende Neubauten and a few more.
    The "second wave" of Industrial Culture connects to the cold wave scene and was now lead by pure musical acts like Skinny Puppy or Ministry. Ministry mixed up trash metal elements, dance elements, synth elements to the Industrial atmosphere of his main project and Lard, RevCo or 1000 homo DJs. Projects like Nine Inch Nails are art-concepts between Mainstream Synth and deep ambient artwork as well as rock and metal elements.
    The term "Industrial" describes a lifestyle, an artconcept and at least a bit musical reference to "strange" or "cold" artificial soundscape.
    Listen to these:
    1. Throbbing Gristle - 20 jazz funk greats
    2. SPK - Leichenschrei
    3 Skinny Puppy - Brap back and fourth
    4. Desiderii Marginis - Years lend a golden charme
    5. Ministry - The land of rape and honey
    i think this adds more understandinh by what Industrial culture COULD sound like :-)

    This is terrible, in context of industrial music... You can tell that whoever made this, isn't 1) exactly a fan of industrial music, and 2) isn't exactly clear what industrial music is. A bunch are, while great songs, terrible examples of industrial music, and therefore don't really belong here. There's a ton of truly great actual industrial left out of here... And the reliance of Rammstein basically outs their limited understanding of what industrial even is, if the rest didn't already. This is the kind of person who would put the Eagles, and Neil Young on a list of best country(hint: neither are country), would call Slayer death metal, and Black Flag pop punk...

      What genre even is rammstein? I’ve seen people everywhere saying „this isn’t (insert any metal genre). It doesn’t quite capture the essence of……“

    • @xjesusxchristx
      @xjesusxchristx 29 дней назад

      @@peterpumpkineater6928 Well, industrial isn't even metal, which is part of the misunderstanding to begin with. Industrial was initially a form of freeform experimental anti-music, that as it evolved started to become more coherent. More experimental forms of electronic music is much closer to to spirit of industrial. Post industrial, which is what it started to become as it gained some sort of cohesion, started to incorporate other music elements into it, from dance music forms, to folk music, and rock. The rock elements became popular enough that many people started calling that industrial without any qualifiers, and that led to by the 90s industrial metal getting called just industrial, mainly by people that do not understand what industrial is.
      So the answer is a little complicated, because now when people say industrial, who are not a part of actual industrial scenes, they usually are referring to metal and rock bands who incorporate some electronic elements.
      What genre Rammstein is is just as complicated, because if you ask them they never even heard of industrial until they were already known outside of Germany. They would tell you that they are New German Hardness Movement, which is a German scene that shares many elements with post industrial music. I think it is fair to call them Industrial metal, and that is how I think of them, but industrial metal and industrial are not quite the same thing in the way that a knife is a blade, a sword is a blade, but a blade is not a knife, and a knife is not a sword. There is correlation, and relation, but there are differences that matter to the classification. By relying upon them so much for this list, and with the other choices they have used for most of the other slots, it is clear that whoever made this has no clue what industrial music is, and thinks Industrial is basically a certain related sub genre that emerged in the 90s, and is missing most if not all of the experimental side that properly defines the genre as a whole.
      This is industrial music: ruclips.net/video/j4pt2U5h120/видео.html
      This is early post industrial: ruclips.net/video/FZbZ-8k5-q4/видео.html
      Neither of which is what you would get from this list, which is mostly mainstream industrial metal(with a couple exceptions)compiled by someone who seems to have a vague, or completely missing, understanding of what industrial is. A list of industrial in general, should contain maybe one or two industrial metal bands at most if they are trying to represent industrial, and not the specific subgenre of industrial metal.
      Anyway, I watched this video and commented two years ago, haha, so I don't even recall who else is on this list - but the thing that came across when I did watch it, was that the person had a poor understanding of what industrial, in the full and wide sense he indicates for this video, actually is or means. This list should have been called Post Industrial(because there are a couple non industrial metal bands here, but all of it is post industrial), and he should have chosen only one song from Rammstein.

    History of Industrial Music: 1. The first big Industrial worldwide band was COUM TRANSMISSION in 1969. Then, in 1970 the iconic Kraftwerk released their first album. Next Throbbing Gristle unleashed in 1975, I think. Then, I believe in the early 80s Rock It by Herbie Hancock, other Industrial innovators to mention, KMFDM, Cabaret Voltaire, Front Line Assembly, Coil, Front 242, Rammstein, Skinny Puppy, Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music", The Art of Noise blew the doors down with their massive hits like Beat Box, and Close To Edit. Then Yello had a hit with a song called Oh Yeah, Next Nine Inch Nails did Industrial music with style. Then Prodigy's massive hit Firestarter. Then in the 2000s Lady Gaga's song Bad Romance. I may have missed somebody. But that covers most years.

      This isn’t about giving honorable mentions tho. If you want to rate songs correctly, don’t care who the artist is. He is rating the songs and not the artists. Even if that means 50% are the same artists. Although there definitely were other good songs that could take the places of the songs from rammstein.

      @@axel90000 if chess games were fair then Magnus Carles wouldn’t have won 15 times in world championships, right? All I’m saying is that a song from Rammstein appearing on the list doesn’t decrease the odds for another rammstein song further in the list. Probably actually increases the odds. This analogy does not indicate any personal preference. Im just saying that a band reaccuring in a rating is normal because it’s not like everyone just released ONE big hit and the rest is negligible. Again, these aren’t honorable mentions where every artist has the same chance on getting recognition trying to only just take one song from any band to leave space for other musicians. Competitive ranking doesn’t work like that.

    • @axel90000
      @axel90000 28 дней назад

      @@peterpumpkineater6928 Yeah I agree that more than one song appearing is not unusual, but the amount of Rammstein songs that appeared in comparison to that of all other artists, with other artists that realistically should be on the list (e.g. Ministry, TG, Eisbrecher, Die Krupps, etc) are missing even though they've definitely made songs worthy of it. If two or three Rammstein songs were on there then I'd be fine with it but this many signifies there might be a bit of bias (and this is coming from a Rammstein fan).

    I don't know, except for a few songs (maybe engel for example) rammstein shouldn't be identified as industrial to begin with, for me they did lot's of techno metal songs, a guy with a keyboard playing samples between the heavy noisy distorted guitars this is not industrial and I'm not even talking about the industrial roots (cabaret voltaire/throbbing gristle which majority don't like) but they're not even a post industrial band. Where is the post-punk influence, where is the dystopia, the experimental and underground elements to produce a song that balances guitars and electronic stuff? nah, KMFDM, nine inch nails, sexydeath, skinny puppy, FLA and so on are much more industrial than rammstein prove that I'm wrong
