I love how organized your sub plans are. I'm a super organized person as well. However, being a sub has taught me that a clear and short lesson plan works best. 2 pages maximum. As a sub you also have lots of responsibilities and in so little time. It's too much to just go through and read a detailed lesson plan. That's just a tip from me. I think less is definitely more and it will make the day for the sub run smoothly.
I would love to see a fitness or workout routine video! 💕 As a teacher myself, it's hard to find the time to go to the gym regularly BUT when I do, I usually am at a loss for exactly what to do! 😂 Any tips or tricks would be awesome!!

Love the organization! Especially how you sorted sub plans and materials in the tubs! My sub plans seem over the top just for 1 day, but I want to make sure everything they need to know is there. I also don't leave my laptop for the sub to use, I'm weird about it too I guess, lol. Have an awesome time on the cruise! You definitely deserve it with how hard you work!
What a beautiful clean inspiring classroom. Congratulations on your dedication, I love the energy you give me. Have you thought of using what we call plastic sleeves instead of paper clips/binder clips. Works well for me. How fortunate your students are to have such an amazing organised teacher. You have taught me a way of using powerpoint that I would never have thought of. The quality of the resources you produce is incredible.

I am very glad that I found your channel. I am starting college this August to get my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I graduated last May with my Associate's. This channel is definitely going to help me once I graduate and find a teaching position.
I'm currently substituting for a 6 day assignment and the teacher literally only left me one 7 page document with all the plans and the materials needed. She wrote plans by subject not by day and I just think it was so much less stressful for her. Also it might help for you to find a substitute who you like and trust. Every single job I take was a specific request for me as the sub and I don't really ever have availability for the substituting system.
That being said, your room seems like a dream to substitute for because your plans are so thorough and you're so organized!
This video was especially interesting to me because I am currently a substitute teacher. I am going back to school in the fall to become certified in Early Childhood Education. I would love to be a substitute for you!!! You are so organized and logical in the way you present the plans. I always appreciate detailed sub plans, but the first thing I end up doing after reading through them is create my own summary schedule for the day. It is so helpful that you do that for your subs! Also, truth be told, I prefer paper copies of everything. That way it's easier for a sub to look ahead to see what needs to be done later. As a sub, I am always happy when I have a little bit of time to think about the lesson before doing it live. If everything is online, it's harder to look ahead. Also, there are often issues with logins/passwords/smartboards. It's just better if there is a paper backup. I love all of your videos. You are the type of teacher I would want my kids to have. Enjoy your cruise--you deserve every minute of it!!!!!!

I'm so disorganized too. This was really helpful. Making sub plans is the worst which is probably why we choose to go in sick as opposed to getting a sub!
Just discovered your videos and love them! I am not your typical teacher. I am 28 and currently an ECED teacher working on a Bachelors in Business, however I have always wanted to be an Elementary Teacher. Didn't think it would be possible at this point in life since I have to work full time and do classes online! I just found out this week that the college I am at offers a Transition to Teach Elementary after I obtain my Bachelors Degree I am currently pursuing!! It will take another year after I graduate with my Bachelors but will technically be a graduate degree and will allow me to take the classes online, do a semester of student teaching and gain my teaching license! Your videos are giving me life now!

I LOVE "Sick" by Shel Silverstein! I am exhausted just watching you prepare for the subs. I would need a serious nanny nap after all of that hard work. Or I suppose a cruise would be a good reward too huh?. I hope the subs and kids appreciate your efforts. I always like to provide more work and information than I think the sub would need, but I think it helps to cover everything because the kids will always try to pull one over on the sub if they can. I can't wait for the cruise vlogs.

I'm a supply teacher in the U.K.. don't know how I'd feel if I turned up to 50 pages of notes for a week.. 😂 I just covered a class for 4 days and was given an a4 time table for the week, and digital files for planning, 2 pages for maths, 2 for English. I was then just told what to do for afternoons by other teachers from the same year group.. crazy how different things are!!
OMG that is an incredible amount of work! You are amazing! You do so much and yet still find the time to work out and do other things, again, you're amazing!
You did so much work! Save all of the originals and plans. Next year, since you'll be in MCPS, you can send them to Copies Plus where are "copy elves" will make copies of it all and you can save them as your emergency plans :)

Maybe this is an obvious question but how did you get permission to take off that many days for a cruise? We only get one discretionary day a year. Is it because you only have 2 days for spring break?
That's a great question. Of course I find it hard to take days off anyway. I'm a music teacher so when I make sub plans I have to write lessons for 6 different grade levels for every day I'm out. BTW l just subscribed to your channel I liked your how to videos.
I guess it goes by school district. For ours, we do not have any vacation days. We have three personal days but I dont think you can use them all at once. If you are out more than two consecutive days, you must have a doctor's note for day 3 on.
Do the substitutes that come to your school actually use & teach from the sub plans you leave? I've written sub plans before and the sub does whatever he/she wants. It's so frustrating. 😡 Hope you're enjoying your cruise! 🌴🍹🏖
It happens!! Not all the time for me though... but I know the feeling! We put in so much work and time so that the guest teacher can understand everything and not feel lost...and some don't even use it :( I have saved notes of those who do use it and leave me comment about how clear and well done my lesson plans were :)

something I wanted to ask, even though you do all this work for day to day instructions. Do most substitute teachers follow your plan or does another instructor check up on them? Or in this case in which this is a planned vacation, do you have a sit down with this person to see if they have questions? I remember when I was a kid, which was waaayyy before your time I remember subs hardly ever following the instructors notes.
